Whole Foods CEO says Obama
healthcare law is ´more like fascism´

The Hill [Washington, DC], by Elise Viebeck

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 1/16/2013 11:31:33 AM

The CEO of Whole Foods Market said President Obama´s healthcare law is more like "fascism" than "socialism," a parallel he drew in 2009, to some backlash. John Mackey made the remark in an interview Wednesday with NPR. "Technically speaking, it´s more like fascism," Mackey said of the Affordable Care Act. "Socialism is where the government owns the means of production. In fascism, the government doesn´t own the means of production, but they do control it, and that´s what´s happening with our healthcare programs and these reforms." The term "fascism" was first used to describe the right-wing regime of Italian

Comments:
Excellent! I hope he has good security. The regime will really frown on that. I´m surprised NPR didn´t throw him out of the studio.

Why does everybody accept nazis, fascists, etc. as being right wing? They are all on the left. They want to control, own, all facets of our society. Right wing wants to get the government out of our business, not cede our god-given rights and responsibilities over to them! That is the media blurring the true meaning of words again, and the simple minded and low information public simply lap it up without question! Absolutely maddening!

Italian fascism was not a right-wing phenomenon. Mussolini and his mob were socialists to the core. Of course, The Hill doesn´t understand that simple fact.

Actually Mussolini was raised as a socialist and wanted to promote it, but he recognized that it wouldn´t sell in Italy. So he modified it and called it Fascism. A Spanish party adopted it also. The Nazis called their party socialist and stuck with that label. Whatever then name, it´s all about controlling people and dictating economic and other behaviors.

As a new Prius owner, I haven´t converted to "Green", I´m just "energy independent!" (Saving over $300 per month on gas from our previous SUV). Love it! But, I will have to put a bumper sticker on it such as "Socialism is anti-American!"

I always assumed that Whole Foods was super liberal, but now I will make a point of shopping there. We have been saying "Fascism" for years now!

#11 there´s nothing more conservative than saving money. The Prius is a great car. It´s the Volt I can´t stand.

Mackey provides high deductible insurance and health savings accounts to his employees. Something the left hates, it puts power back into the hand of the individual.

Good for him. Sounds like he actually cares about his employees by caring about his company... you know the company that pays his employees a paycheck. Those are not mutually exclusive concerns contrary to liberal dogma.

I do wish folks would understand that fascism, socialism, and communism are all essentially the same idea, less freedom and wealth for the people, more power and money to the government. Label it what you like but in the end it always leads to tyranny.

One of the first political issues negotiators must tackle in crafting an immigration reform bill is among the most important: what to name it. It’s a decision that will bruise egos, create legacies and deeply affect subsequent messaging battles. “Every time the bill is mentioned in the press, you either have a brand that´s positive or a brand that doesn´t mean anything or even hurts you,” said Frank Sharry, the executive director of the pro-immigration reform group America’s Voice. "Thatcherism" was the most popular and successful way of running a country in the last quarter of the 20th century and into the 21st. Her origins were humble. Born Oct. 13, 1925, she was the daughter of a grocer in the Lincolnshire town of Grantham. Alfred Roberts was no ordinary shopkeeper.
