W.H. Releases Letters from Little
Kids Pleading for Gun Control

The Weekly Standard, by Daniel Halper

Original Article

Posted By:PChristopher, 1/16/2013 8:22:31 AM

The White House today released letters from little kids pleading for gun control, just hours before President Obama is to release a comprehensive proposal to limit guns and ammunition. The letters were released to the Associated Press in what appears to be a coordinated effort to help shape the narrative the day of Obama´s announcement.

Comments:
Oh, how sweet...I´m sure they just copied whatever teacher wrote on the board for them...if they were even from kids at all.

I have four granddaughters, ages 10 to 22. I don´t think it would ever have occurred to any of them to write to the president about guns. They might have written about any number of other subjects, but guns????

Does this remind anyone of Jimmy Carter´s supposed bedtime conversation with a very young Amy about "nuclear proliferation"?

Just when you think the agitator-in-chief cannot possibly get any more insultingly cynical, he springs the old "for the children ploy". Shades of Saddam Hussein asking one of HIS human-shield-children if he had "enough milk". Like Hussein, the pathetic ´dear leader of the left´ has NO shame. What a terrible time in the history of this country as we painfully see once again that Elections really DO have consequences.

Get use to it - 4 more years of the most narcissistic human being in America doing whatever he can to ´create his legacy´...

So, wonder if Obama turned those letters over to the cops - as was done by one high school who told the students to write ´anti-violence pledges´ - which were then handed over to police for potential ´crime solving´ via handwriting samples?

Nothing like using a ´tragedy´ to convince the kids to hand over evidence w/o a warrant, eh?

Noted elsewhere today - the White House has just ´doubled´ the required signatures on petitions filed with ´em - before an answer is required. Guess they think a petition for Impeachment couldn´t top that number?

As if...

They do not understand the Constitution. They do not understand mental illness. They do not understand anything that goes into this complicated issue.

Commenters are ignoring fact that surely 60% or more of these children voted for Obama in 2012. They were not aware that the local Obama for America office used their names, but those votes still counted in the hundreds of voting precincts that went 100% for Obama.

So if they can vote without knowing, they can stand around Obama without knowing the Consitutiion.

Seriously, Obama use of children is an eerie update of Michael Jackson. Weird that the WH would do a reprise of the Neverland Ranch.

An understanding of current social issues are a part of many states´ education standards. So, letters about gun control from children don´t surprise me at all. The social studies lesson was extended to a writing/language lesson and with the inauguration coming up, the President is already the focus of many classrooms. Wonder how many teachers will earn some extra merit pay if one of their student´s letters was chosen.

Also, if you wnt to really STOP the violence, get the guns out of the criminals who are NOT suppose to have them and commit 99.9% of the gun crime. Why do they have no answer when we ask them about taking guns out of the hands of criminals??? These letters sound like they were written by parents or teachers and they used the child´s name to do it. How about if we get conservative parents to get THEIR kids to write letter so obama will not infringe on our constitutional rights???? Will they post those letters???

This just goes to show that even the best music in the world can turn ugly if sung too many times by your drunken boyfriend at his birthday party. A 23-year-old Colorado woman named Samantha Malson was arrested this weekend after she choked out her boyfriend for singing “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore over and over, even when she asked “25 times” for him to stop. Unfortunately, it was her lover’s 26th birthday that evening and the victim was wasted (as birthday boys tend to get), leading to an unfortunate altercation

That disparity is even greater for African-American women and Latinas,” Obama said in a statement issued Monday.

As President Obama prepares to head to Colorado on Wednesday to push gun control legislation, some are calling into question the validity of a key statistic he’s using to tout his message on near-universal background checks. During several speeches, Obama has said 40 percent of all gun purchases were made without a background check. But that number is nearly two decades old and comes from a poll with a relatively tiny sample size.

Amid a backdrop of record-low ratings for some broadcast shows, cable is feeling pretty good about its prospects in this year’s upfront advertising sales derby. For the season, ad-supported cable as a group has opened up a bigger ratings advantage over the Big Four – and has beaten the broadcasters in the 18-49 demo on a regular basis in a handful of timeslots. But cablers still feel slighted by Madison Avenue because they rarely command ad rates that are commensurate with broadcasters. That may not change this year, but the tipping point feels like it’s getting closer.
