A longtime substitute teacher in Phillipsburg, NJ, has been fired after he shared a Bible verse with a student – and upon request gave the child a Bible. (Snip) The Phillipsburg School Board voted Monday night to terminate the employment of Walter Tutka. He was accused of breaking two policies – distributing religious literature on school grounds and another policy that directs teachers to be neutral when discussing religious material. “It’s unfortunate the Phillipsburg School District chose the path of religious hostility and intolerance against a retired man serving his community and simply responding to a Link corrected by staff

Comments: But it´s okay if you worship at the altar of 0bama and spew forth propaganda. They probably would have celebrated if he shared a verse from the Koran. This makes me sick.

As long as the school was run by the government, I agree that teachers there should not be pushing religion. Why not just privatize the "public" school systems?

I agree with #2. And I am equally aghast at schools that allow prayer rugs and foot baths and whatever, so that muslims can pray. There can be no religious accommodation for the gutter religion of Islam. And don´t tell me about peaceful muslims. They are nowhere to be found.

Oops - one more thing. It is possible to use bible verses as literature and philosophy, and it is also possible to compare the bible to other religious tracts, such as the koran. But the examination of those has to be in the context of literature, philosophy, morality. (Matthew 18 - toiling in the vineyard - is a good example.)

If anyone cares to do a bit of research, you would find that our founding fathers were "all about" the God of the Bible and would be rolling over in their graves today if they would see this secular immoral culture run roughshod over the freedoms Americans have to personally quote Bible verses in schools! If the humanists can quote their "evolution" religion in programmed class setting... at the least, we should be allowed to quote Bible verses!
When they remove prayer from the halls of congress before sessions, then... I may give ear to you hypocritical Bible haters voicing your demonic tripe about people quoting Bible passages and handing out Bible in public schools!!!

To the trolls asking stupid questions the answer is yes it would be fine to share a verse from the koran and give out one.... but having said that there He wouldn´t have been fired for giving out a verse of the koran and given a koran to the child. The 1st amendment covers all religions and for the trolls sake, there is no separation of church and state anywhere in the constitution what so ever just a made up law that is repeated over and over because of Thomas Jefferson´s PERSONAL writings... Why don´t we use all the founding fathers writings if we are going to cherry pick what was written by someone as a THOUGHT (Jefferson would have been roundly censored for trying to put that into the constitution and probably was). What the founders wanted trolls is for there to be no REQUIRED state religion being forced upon us, and guess what we do now and its call secular humanism and it is being propogated daily but hey since its your religion you don´t even think about complaining. Just saying

I am failing to see how a substitute teacher giving a student a Bible--one of the Great Books, by the way--at the student´s request, on his lunch hour, is the "establishment of religion." Where does it say that the teacher wasn´t neutral in his discussion with the student? And the Bible is more than just "religious literature. " It is one of the Great Books of the world that has had enormous influence on art, literature, music, among many other "non-religious" pursuits.

In past years the Gideons could distribute Bibles to every student in a school, even in class. Then they were forced to stand on the sidewalks before/after school. I don´t think the man should be fired since there is no evidence that his behavior had any impact on his teaching. This is a knee-jerk reaction and unfortunately it is the default position of schools today.
However, I am uncomfortable with anyone in school distributing religious literature without the knowledge of parents. I would not want a Jehovah´s Witness or a Scientology member to give out their propaganda. The man could have told the child that he would be happy to have the discussion after school, with his parents. The bigoted anti-theists still would not be appeased but at least this would have allowed the man to continue working. Ramona (the Pest)

Bill Clinton taught us in his Presidency to accuse your enemies of what you are guilty of - when the racist liberals start the racist labels, we should immediately point out that they are the racist! When the liberals accuse others of intolerance, immediately point out their intolerance! When the liberals begin their accusations of hate, immediately point out their hateful invectives!!! It is time that we start taking the gloves off as good ole Chuck Heston said, "... from my cold, dead hands!"

In a covertly made tape-recording at a Nebraska abortion clinic, Dr. Leroy Carhart told a pregnant woman that aborting her late-term baby by subjecting the child to a lethal injection inside the womb was “like putting meat in a Crock-Pot.” “It’s like putting meat in a Crock-Pot. Democratic lawmakers introduced a bill Thursday that would prohibit credit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) and Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) said their bill was necessary because currently there is no federal law that consistently protects LGBT individuals from credit discrimination. “Obtaining credit is a critical step for many looking to buy a home, go to college, or start a small business,” Murray said. “And since equal protection under the law is a fundamental right in our country, no one should suffer discrimination when trying

Former President Bill Clinton on Friday sought to squash reports about his criticism of President Obama’s handling of Syria. Clinton reportedly warned Obama risked looking like “a total fool” by listening to opinion polls and not acting more aggressively to help Syria’s opposition during a private event on Tuesday. The former president in an interview on MSNBC brushed off suggestions that his comments were critical of Obama. “First of all I think I’ve been a little amazed by the coverage of this – I just did a question and answer session for Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, is already willing to vote for final passage if some minor tweaks are made to the current bill. The Hill reports: Cornyn told Republican colleagues at a meeting Wednesday that he would consider making changes to his amendment to bolster the border-security provisions of the Senate bill. His willingness to negotiate left some Republicans convinced after the meeting that he would

Pro-life organization Project Defending Life has released a new video exposé featuring an undercover telephone call placed by a young woman to Planned Parenthood of New Mexico in Albuquerque. The caller, who gives her age as 14, states she is seeking an abortion and that she is concerned because her boyfriend is 21 and is "worried" he will be reported. The Planned Parenthood employee tells the young woman that she and the doctor will discuss these issues but that the clinic "probably won´t" report her circumstances, even though her pregnancy by an adult qualifies as statutory rape.

On Thursday, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) said one reason illegal immigrants must be legalized as soon as possible is so they can help fund border security measures by paying taxes and fines. During an interview on "The Andrea Tantaros Show," Rubio, as Byron York points out, first said there was no choice but to legalize at least 11 million illegal immigrants because he said the country "cannot wait another four years" to enact immigration reform. He then said illegal immigrants needed to be registered "as soon as possible" so the fines they pay into the system help

Talk show host Andrea Tantaros had a very pointed and uncomfortable question for Sen. Marco Rubio today. She interviewed the Florida Republican about his support for the Gang of Eight’s “comprehensive” immigration reform bill, which puts legalization for millions of illegal aliens ahead of the border security that a majority of American voters want. “People are saying, Senator, that [the immigration bill] is just like ObamaCare, just like McCain-Feingold. It will be an albatross around your neck and Democrats are pleading with Obama to stay on the sidelines,” Tantaros said.

Some days it looks like Barack Obama is just trolling the whole world. The same man who opposed ousting Saddam Hussein now will arm Islamist rebels in Syria. The same man who railed against Bush for wiretapping terrorists wiretapped all of us. That same man has now nominated Avril Haines to the number two post in the Central Intelligence Agency. It’s an important job, one you’d think would require some intelligence or military background of some kind. Haines has none of that. What is it with Chris Christie and Democratic presidents? First, the Republican governor from New Jersey surprised his party by embracing -- both figuratively and literally -- President Obama. Now, Christie´s headlining the closing ceremonies of Bill Clinton´s annual international forum in Chicago. Today´s session, called "Cooperation and Collaboration: A Conversation on Leadership," is the product of an odd-couple pairing of Clinton and Christie that has developed in the four years since the popular former president tried unsuccessfully to end Christie´s political career before it really took off, sources close to both Clinton and Christie said.

Throughout United States history, the group of men who assembled in Philadelphia in 1787 to write the nation’s Constitution had been known as the “Founding Fathers,” a moniker used even on official government websites. But the use of the “fathers” may have been a step too far for the Obama administration. In a Thursday post on the White House’s blog, Keith Donohue, the communications director for the National Historical Publications and Records Commission at the National Archives, announced that the papers of the “Founding Founders,” otherwise known as the Founding Fathers, are available online.

Franks made the comment during a committee mark-up of his late-term abortion ban bill, which is expected pass the House next week. The Republican lawmaker was arguing against a Democratic amendment allowing rape and incest victims to procure abortions. As written, the bill only exempts women whose lives are in danger.
