Booker: Shut Down Gun Shows
and Private Sales, Cut Rate

PJ Media, by Bridget Johnson

Newark, N.J., Mayor Cory Booker contended that closing down private gun sales would dramatically cut the number of domestic violence slayings. “What we see in Newark is that law abiding citizens buying guns are not causing the crime. It is that criminals can so easily get their hands on guns,” Booker said last night on MSNBC. “…You have an overwhelming majority of gun owners agree with instant background checks, agree that we should end the gun show loophole and end these secondary markets.” “The best data point I have on this is that when you

Comments:
This would really make a difference to all the criminals in Chicago and other high crime cities. Heavy s/o This gun control fiasco sure is showing the true colors of Democrats and their complete disregard for the Constitution. You have to wonder if this happened before the election it could have changed the outcome. Too late now.

Booker needs to focus on angry men who will kill women by whatever means necessary. They don´t need funs.

Hmmm. So Mr. Booker thinks guns are the bane of women?

Tell that to the half-million female babies left as puddles on Planned Parenthood clinic floors every year...

Or just pour yourself a cup of tea to go with that sanctimony.

FTA: "What we see in Newark is that law abiding citizens buying guns are not causing the crime. It is that criminals can so easily get their hands on guns,"

Make a magic law such that all gun sales go through a background check and the only thing that would change is that criminals would simply break another law when buying guns from one another, or stealing them. This joker will go far in Democrat politics; not too bright, just the right skin tone.

There is no gun show loophole. People who buy at gun shows must have background checks, the same as gun stores.
This gov´t has made rich people the bad guys, now it is the gun shows.
Stop falling for this crap, people.

Why don´t the dems crack down on the criminals who use guns the way they want to crack down on the guns themselves? Silly question, criminals are a big part of their constituency.

Actually as you make guns more difficult for law abiding citizens to obtain you would likely see a rise in the number of women murdered. There´s a good reason a gun is known as an equalizer.

These gun-banners are irrationally focused on gun shows. They are the monster under the bed for them. None bother to find out that the percentage of criminals who obtain weapons at gun shows is in the low single digits. Closing every gun show would have no effect on crime. None. Zip. Nil.

And the "gun show loophole"? Do they even know what that is? That "loophole" is just private, law abiding citizens engaging in private legal transactions to buy/sell a legal product. Just as you might sell an old appliance to a friend or neighbor. All licensed dealers peform background checks at gun shows just like they do in their stores.

#5 nailed it. I have been to a number of gun shows in Texas and have never seen anyone who resembled a "gang banger". Most attendees appear to me to be middle class gun enthusiasts of all races.

I´m sure that once private sales are outlawed the thief who steals a gun won´t sell it to a gang banger because it would be against the law. Good grief are these liberals that naive or just that stupid?

Restrict gun ownership to those who vote Republican, and the gun crime rate will dip drastically.

If they don´t want to own guns, then they can divest. Just like those who advocate for higher taxes can pay more. But, in either case, they will not.

Gang bangers who kill women will kill then with or without a gun. They are also not going anywhere near a gun show. Know why? Because gun shows are filled with ATF agents and cops. And not as customers. They´re watching everything anyone does. Illegal transactions at a gun show would be very, very difficult to accomplish.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church.
