Farewell, Mr. Boortz

For my money, the single most talented voice in the modern history of talk radio is retiring later this month. Not “one of” the most talented — the most talented. Neal Boortz began his career in radio while in college at Texas A&M, but his long stint in commercial radio started as one of the many individuals he would, over the years to follow, continually cut off: opinionated callers. Boortz in the late 1960s was a frequent caller to a local Atlanta talk show, and when the host died unexpectedly, he went from brash caller to brash host. But Boortz’s rise to the Radio Hall of fame

His crystal ball has been very accurate these past years. He was one of the very few conservatives who called for Barry winning a 2nd term. I didn´t want to believe his prediction....sigh.....

He always said he had an escape plan. What really scares me is I think he has seen the need to execute that plan.

Boortz has made quite a nice living off bashing welfare recipients, illegal aliens, government schools and unions. The thing is he´s not bashful about any of it but rarely does what he says make front page news.If Rush made the same comments as Boortz,he´d been run of the air a long time ago.I usually listen to him when Rush is off because I can´t stand his fill ins.

I guess Herman Cain is taking over his show and I really don´t want to hear what he has to say about anything.

The "Boo Got Shot" thing makes me cry with laughter EVERY time I listen. Royal Marshall (Neal´s long-time producer to died a couple of years ago) was a treasure, and is dearly missed.

Neal has been dead-on in his predictions, and I didn´t want to believe them, either. But he was right. We wish you well, Mr. Boortz.

Many people still remember the huge conflagration between Bill O´Reilly & Neal Boortz.

Lots of laughs. Neal made a lot of friends.

What am I missing here? Neal retired months ago, and this article is dated January 2013.

Anyway, Neal was indeed a great talkmeister and I especially miss the Royal days, RIP Royal.

That said, I must defend Herman Cain. Even though I was never for his nomination (not that he wouldn´t have made a much better president than our present one), he has done a really magnificent service over the years, through his radio talk shows on WSB, of educating people, including black people, about conservatism. How many black people would have had the courage to go so very much against the grain of 99.999 % of his peers here? I often wonder how he even survives going to his church services. He deserves great respect and a Medal of Honor for what he has done with his opportunities to speak out.

As for the allegations against him, I tend not to believe them and tend to believe he was set up. Even if true, though, that would not alter the facts about his career, nor the above sentiments.

Anyway, thank you, Neal - and thank you Herman.

MARIETTA — The mother of a slain 13-month-old boy took the stand Tuesday and tearfully told jurors how she witnessed her baby being shot between the eyes by a young man she’d never met before. De’Marquise Elkins is accused of shooting Antonio Santiago execution style on March 21 while Antonio was in his stroller returning home from the post office in Brunswick. Because Elkins was not 18 years old at the time of the shooting, he cannot be sentenced to death, but faces life in prison if convicted. The trial was moved to Cobb County following concerns about media coverage and racial tensions in Brunswick.

Marietta - After shooting 13-month-old Antonio Santiago between the eyes, prosecutors say De’Marquise Elkins stashed the murder weapon under a friend’s couch in Brunswick. Then his mother and sister threw it in a saltwater pond, Cobb County jurors heard from witnesses Monday. Kicking off the second week of testimony in the case against De’Marquise Elkins, accused of killing Antonio, the jury heard how he tried to hide the .22-caliber revolver and how his family allegedly disposed of it. The trial was moved to Cobb because of concerns about pre-trial media coverage influencing a jury,

Marietta - De’Marquise Elkins had the right to remain silent when he was arrested on March 22 and charged with the shooting death of a 1-year-old baby in Brunswick. But what Elkins allegedly told police as they were taking him into custody is now being used against him in the high-profile murder trial playing out in a Cobb County courtroom. Police testifying Friday said Elkins, 18, bragged to officers who arrested him that “you ain’t got s--- on me. You ain’t got no gun.” Police hadn’t told him the murder he’s accused of involved a firearm. Elkins, of Brunswick, is charged with murder and cruelty

The star witness in the case against accused baby killer De’Marquise Elkins admitted lying to police, the court and his family more than a dozen times Thursday, giving Elkins’ defense attorneys a chance to take shots at his credibility. The co-defendant and star witness for the prosecution, 15-year-old Dominique Lang of Brunswick, traded in his jail jumpsuit for slacks and a button-down shirt as he testified for more than five hours Thursday against Elkins in front of the Cobb jury for the first time. Lang is accused of being present when police say Elkins shot 13-month-old Antonio Santiago in the face and

Day three of the trial against accused baby killer De’Marquise Elkins ended with an unanswered question about the credibility of a key witness. In the last hour Wednesday, 15-year-old Joe Lang took the stand to testify that he saw Elkins and his co-defendant Dominique Lang together at his grandmother’s home in Brunswick after the shooting took place. Elkins is accused of shooting 13-month-old Antonio Santiago between the eyes in his stroller during the attempted robbery of the toddler’s mother. Elkins faces multiple charges, including murder, but is not eligible for the death penalty because he was not 18 at the time of

Famed former CNN host Larry King said he has never heard of Juanita Broaddrick Thursday in an interview with Steve Malzberg on Newsmax TV. Broadrrick, a former Arkansas nursing home worker, accused President Clinton of raping her during the late 1970s in a 1998 Dateline interview. Malzberg was describing a double standard of media coverage during the 2012 conventions, noting left wing pundits dubbed the GOP convention a “convention of rapists” while remaining silent on President Clinton’s keynote address despite sexual assault allegations directed against the former president. King interjected “Hold up, hold up. Stop! Bill Clinton was accused of rape?” Malzberg reacted

First Lady Michelle Obama apparently halted private-jet traffic at Aspen airport as she landed for a weekend of skiing while President Obama headed to California. Michelle, with her daughters, Sasha and Malia, was expected to touch down in Aspen Friday to spend Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day weekend away from her husband, who was meeting late Friday with Jordan’s King Abdullah II in Rancho Mirage, Calif. Mrs. Obama’s arrival amid tight security was expected to delay the arrival of other wealthy vacationers on private jets at the Colorado ski resort. One source said, “Some of those heading into Aspen were whining that

Jonathan Turley, faithful Obama supporter and liberal professor of constitutional law at Sandra Fluke´s alma mater, Georgetown University Law School, is sounding the alarm that "a system in which a single individual is allowed to rewrite legislation or ignore legislation is a system that borders on authoritarianism." Question for Mr. Turley: what kind of constitutional law professor votes for an inexperienced community organizer who believes that the U.S. Constitution is "fundamentally flawed" in the first place?

A growing group of Ted Cruz’s Republican Senate colleagues are infuriated with his tactics. So frustrated was Arizona Senator John McCain with the latest, forcing fellow Republicans to take a politically risky vote on lifting the debt ceiling, that yesterday he tweeted a Wall Street Journal editorial accusing the Texas lawmaker of instigating “needless drama that helps to explain why Republicans remain a minority.” (Snip)Cruz’s insistence Feb. 12 on a 60-vote threshold to advance legislation lifting the nation’s borrowing cap foiled his party leadership’s plan to let the measure move forward with only Democratic votes.

CHATTANOOGA, TENN. — The UAW suffered a devastating defeat at Volkswagen’s plant here as workers rejected union representation by a 712-626 margin. The defeat, which came despite Volkswagen’s neutrality, tarnishes UAW President Bob King’s legacy and could make it next to impossible for the union to extend its reach beyond domestic automakers.
“While we certainly would have liked a victory for workers here, we deeply respect the Volkswagen Global Group Works Council, Volkswagen management and (German union) IG Metall for doing their best to create a free and open atmosphere for workers to exercise their basic human right to form a union,” King said in a statement.

The criticism of Clinton over the deadly attacks appears to be a preview of what the former secretary of state can expect should she pursue a presidential bid in 2016.(Snip)At the same time, more personal accusations have been laid against Clinton by OPSEC (military slang for "operational security"), a group of former special forces and intelligence operatives that

In a segment on last night’s Hardball with Chris Matthews, political commentator and prodigal GOP son Ron Reagan called out Sen. Ted Cruz’s latest filibustering of a Senate bill to increase the debt ceiling as self-destructive maneuver that achieved nothing — except, perhaps, hastened the destruction of the GOP. “What exactly was on Ted Cruz’s mind?” a boggled Reagan asked. “What was he thinking of in terms of his Senate colleagues? They could have all voted against the debt limit increase, they could have all gone home to their constituents in Tennessee or Kentucky or wherever, and they could have said,

At least every week now, there is a new story supporting the narrative of an inevitable 2016 Hillary Clinton presidential bid. Indeed, the conventional wisdom is that it is an absolute certainty that she will run. If anyone is currently saying, flat out, that Hillary isn´t running, I haven´t come across them. Is the inevitability of her run really as certain as the conventional wisdom suggests, and further, is it unfolding in an optimal manner for the potential candidate? In all likelihood, Clinton will not make a final, "go-or-no-go" decision until early next year, after the dust has settled from

The school of literary criticism known as reception theory holds that a text should be studied in light of its effect on its contemporaries, that a reader should be aware of the “horizon of expectations” in which a text is produced. I was reminded of this the other day as I observed, in amusement, fascination, and occasional pity, the reaction of the so-called mainstream media to Alana Goodman’s lengthy and rock-solid report on “The Hillary Papers.” This trove of previously unexamined transcriptions of conversations between Hillary Clinton and her best friend Diane Blair had been collecting dust at the University

So you can imagine my surprise when I discovered a Michigan health care facility, funded by federal tax dollars, blocked Fox News Channel from its waiting room television sets. The president of Family Health Care directed staff to block Fox News after a board member complained about our network’s coverage of the Affordable Care Act, an employee told me. “The board member complained that patients were turning the channel to Fox News,” said the employee who asked

Earlier this week Senator Ted Cruz took to doing what he enjoys most: Lecturing the GOP “establishment” from his moral Mt. Olympus. Speaking critically about the vote to raise the debt limit, Cruz–who insisted on a 60-vote threshold to end debate on the measure–said some lawmakers are “willing to mortgage our children’s future” because they “care so much about being praised by the Washington media” and don’t think voters are paying attention. “But sometimes, come November, the people remember,” the junior senator from Texas declared.
