Bill Clinton makes surprise
appearance at Golden Globe
Awards

The Daily Caller, by Jeff Poor

Original Article

Posted By:jackson, 1/14/2013 11:38:59 AM

Former President Bill Clinton made a surprise appearance at Sunday night’s Golden Globe Awards to introduce Steven Spielberg’s “Lincoln,” which was nominated for best dramatic film. Clinton received a raucous standing ovation from those attending the awards ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. “A tough fight to push a bill through a bitterly divided House of Representatives. Winning it required the president to make a lot of unsavory deals that had nothing to do with the big issue,” Clinton said. “I wouldn’t know anything about that,” Clinton added, eliciting laughter from the crowd.

Comments:
As a film fan, Clinton sees himself as Lincoln. But history will hopefully see him moe truthfully as Harry Reems.

Kind of reminds me of that ancient Simpsons episode when Homer bowled a 300 game and just started showing up as a ´cameo celebrity´ anywhere he felt like it.

I was sick of Clinton over 20 years ago and I wish he would just go completely away...and take that miserable little peanut jerk with him, too.

Lessee... despite the fact that: he was run out of England with credible rape charges over his head; he has been accused of molestation [at the least] by several women; he was involved as Governor in sending contaminated blood from state inmates to Canada; he disgraced his office and committed as egregious an act of boss/employee whatever [feminists? where were you? where are you?] as ever occurred in the White House; he then repeatedly lied about his acts; he lost his law license for doing so under oath; he was impeached for same; we probably don´t know the whole story about Vince Foster; we probably don´t know the whole story about Ron Brown; he refused to act on bin Laden at least 3 times; and more; but "Clinton received a raucous standing ovation from those attending the awards ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel."

So: any questions about Clinton? Hollywood? The image-worshiping Left?

No? No questions? OK.

#2: IIRC, and to our credit if this is correct, there are open warrants on Polanski.

With Vladimir Putin’s dispatch of Russian troops into Crimea, our war hawks are breathing fire. Russophobia is rampant and the op-ed pages are ablaze here. Barack Obama should tune them out, and reflect on how Cold War presidents dealt with far graver clashes with Moscow. When Red Army tank divisions crushed the Hungarian freedom fighters in 1956, killing 50,000, Eisenhower did not lift a finger. When Khrushchev built the Berlin Wall, JFK went to Berlin and gave a speech. When Warsaw Pact troops crushed the Prague Spring in 1968, LBJ did nothing. When, Moscow ordered Gen. 7 questions for Darrell Issa to

California Republican Rep. Darrell Issa’s House Oversight and Government Reform Committee has recalled embattled former IRS exempt organizations division head Lois Lerner to testify on Capitol Hill Wednesday. Lerner’s apology for improperly scrutinizing and harassing conservative groups applying for non-profit status kicked off the IRS targeting scandal ten months ago, and Lerner has been stonewalling ever since (famously trying to invoke the Fifth Amendment the last time she testified but failing because she made a statement attesting to her innocence first). Her lawyer said she intends to “continue to assert her Fifth Amendment rights.” Since she already waived them, Issa

The constant mischief of the progressive left is hurting the nation´s morale. There are few areas of national life left in which they are not busy, and few in which they´re not making it worse. There are always more regulations, fees and fiats, always more cultural pressure and insistence. The president brags he has a pen and a phone. He uses the former to sign executive orders. It is not clear why he mentioned the latter since he rarely attempts to bring legislators over to his side. Who exactly is he calling? The most hopeful thing he´s done is signal this

In a move sure to reignite the IRS scandal that rocked the agency and the Obama administration last Spring, House Oversight Committee chairman Darrell Issa is recalling disgraced IRS official Lois Lerner to a March 5 hearing, demanding that she resume her testimony before his panel. In late May, Lerner delivered an opening statement to Issa’s committee before invoking her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. The panel later voted that, in making that statement, in which Lerner declared she had done nothing wrong, the former head of the IRS’s Exempt Organizations division had waived her Fifth Amendment rights.

KAMPALA, Uganda—Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Monday signed into law a controversial antigay bill, setting the stage for a showdown with Western donors and rights activists opposed to the legislation. Although the bill has won praise in Uganda, especially among religious groups, human-rights activists have decried the measures to curb what Mr. Museveni has called "abnormal" behavior. Hundreds of jubilant antigay activists took to the streets of the capital, Kampala, on Monday, shortly after the president signed the bill into law. TOPEKA — A man who provided sperm to a lesbian couple in response to an online ad is the father of a child born to one of the women and must pay child support, a Kansas judge ruled Wednesday. Topeka resident William Marotta had argued that he had waived his parental rights and didn’t intend to be a father. Shawnee County District Judge Mary Mattivi rejected that claim, saying the parties didn’t involve a licensed physician in the artificial insemination process and thus Marotta didn’t qualify as a sperm donor, The Topeka Capital-Journal reported.

McCain said he spoke to Cruz about the comments and it was “cordial” but he took specific offense at the remarks concerning Dole. “He can say what he wants to about me and he can say anything he wants to about Mitt,” McCain said,

Via Matt Lewis, here’s Maverick once again demonstrating that “cordial relationship” in politico-speak means “two people who can’t publicly admit to hating each other but obviously do.” And it’s a cheap shot. Cruz’s point yesterday at CPAC was that Dole, McCain, and Romney lost because they weren’t conservative enough. That’s not because they’re gutless — he said specifically that they were “good” and “decent” men — but because they’re not committed, full-throated ideologues, even less so when they’re fighting for purple states in a national election. We can debate whether that’s true but there’s nothing offensive in raising the subject.

What’s been said of confession — that it is good for one’s soul but bad for one’s reputation — can also be true of testifying to Congress, so Lois Lerner has chosen to stay silent. Hers, however, is an eloquent silence. The most intrusive and potentially most punitive federal agency has been politicized; the IRS has become an appendage of Barack Obama’s party. Furthermore, congruent with exhortations from some congressional Democrats, it is intensifying its efforts to suffocate groups critical of progressives, by delaying what once was the swift, routine granting of tax-exempt status. So, the IRS, far from repenting

One of the most seismic changes in American politics over the last decade has been the emergence of a sharp generational split among the electorate. The Democratic Party owes its success in the last two presidential elections almost entirely to overwhelming support among the very young, which has overcome continued conservatism among older voters. The Pew Research Institute has dominated the field of exploring the ideological cleavages among different generations. And its latest survey shows again how the liberalism of the youngest voting cohort, millennials, remains firm, and likely to continue to recast the electorate. A few charts from the survey
