Dropping the Hagel Bomb
American Spectator, by Ben Stein

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 1/14/2013 6:40:25 AM

You really cannot, in fairness, blame President Obama for naming “Chuck” Hagel, one of the most clearly anti-Israel, anti-Semitic members of the Senate (or ex-members in his case) to be Secretary of Defense. President Obama has not changed his views on Israel since his first speech at the Democrat convention in 2004, when he made it clear that his sympathies in the Middle East lay with the Palestinians. In a way, you have to admire his consistency. Of course, he has to pay lip service to Israel when he visits Miami Beach, but how he must laugh

Despite Obama´s open hostility towards Israel the past 4 years, there´s still a lot of people who don´t see it,exactly because of the occasional lip service. But nothing has been as openly hostile as his nomination of Hagel, yet pro_Israel groups won´t fight him getting the position.

One thing you can´t take away from Obama is he´s very good at playing a sucker.

Wonder if the Jews in Germany felt the same way about Hitler..that he was all bluster and did not reallllllllly mean to exterminate them? Self delusion has long been a trait that seems to follow them. I personally have a strong sense of who is false and who is not; who is my enemy and who is not; who is phony and who is real. Liberals do not have that sense. They think good is bad and bad is good; phoney is authentic and authentic is phoney. Many moderates are the same way..and with less excuse as moderates have had more exposure to the truth but still suspend belief and pretend we can dance with the devil without getting burned. In the end it is truth/lies, enemy/friend, love/hate, war/peace...very clearly divided. I choose the God of Israel over the devil in the small man Obama.Jews choose Obama by a large majority. Tells us a lot. Pray for Israel and USA.

Thanks for allowing this to be posted. I don´t always agree with Ben Stein but this is a pretty lucid and logical explanation for the 2/3 of American Jews voting for The Won.

If it is O who wants Iran to have nukes and wants Israel vaporized, does it really matter, except that Hagel is a 2-fer as an anti-Israel Republican, who is Secretary of Defense. Hagel seems a nincompoop, a bought and paid for hack who will do what he´s told. I would not vote for his confirmation, but anyone nominated by O will surely share the same views.

On a second point, Ben Stein tells us twice here that the Jews who support O will put loyalty to the "party line" above Israel every time. That´s obvious. It would be more edifying of Mr. Stein, and more courageous, if he would go out on a limb and tell us why that is the case. Surely, he has an pinion on why.

Jews living in America have guilt over Jews living in Israel who are definately on the "front line". They downplay the tenuous circumstances of the state of Israel. Culturally, they diverge more and more as time goes by. Such is life.

Yo..yo...Most German Jews thought they were safe because they had become "good little German citizens". That big bad Hitler surely wouldn´t harm them! Didn´t work out too good for them. Remember Hitler was the "Politcal Messiah" who would save the German people. Hey...Let´s see how the new political Messiah does for ´Em.

I merely point out that those who think all Jews in America consider Israel a high priority are mistaken. The left-wing group-think party line far outranks Zionism for many, many Jews.

Liberal first, Jewish second. Or third. Jewishness for the American Jew has become just something they were born with. The Orthodox Jews are different -- they´re serious about their faith and about Israel, but your garden-variety secular Jew in America couldn´t care less about what happens to Israel, and most Jews in America ARE secular, i.e., they observe traditions of Judaism but not the religion of Judaism nor its God of the Bible.

So if Israel is wiped off the map, that fits just fine into the American Jewish notion that it is the Palestinians who are the "freedom fighters" and the Israelis who are the colonialists and oppressors.

Stein, as usual nails it. And he is also dead right about evangelical Christians being Israel´s only friends. We, unlike secular Jews, take our religion and our God seriously, and God gave that land and more to Israel. We also know that Israel and Judaism are at the foundation of our faith and Christianity is the outworking of Judaism.

As a Christian evangelical, I fear for Israel and yes, I see another holocaust on the horizon if Obama and Hagel and American Jews get their way. Pathetic....

#5 hagel´s position was news even when he was a senator. The majority did not hold his view and managed to get things done. People of Nebraska finally voted this maroon out. Now the lazy one wants to bring him back so that he can play hard ball with the Republicans.

Reply 10 - Posted by: EnsignO´Toole, 1/14/2013 7:57:47 AM     (No. 9115211)

Hagel is a symptom or evidence of the Obama disease. If Hagel is confirmed, Jews should find a way to inoculate themselves.

Ben is right in his observation: The only real friends that Israel has on this earth, evangelical Christians, will take note. Moreover, it is quite possible that we will soon be seeing Martin Niemoller´s famous words again come true:

"First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the...
and I did not speak out
because I was not a...
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me."

Please note I have taken some liberties by not reproducing the full quote. The repetition is chilling but full of irony because some of Niemoller´s "victims" are now the ones who are perpetrating the crime or, at least, have helped/are helping with it.

For those who care the Bible might give one plenty of insight as to what can be expected from Israel. And one might also learn their ultimate end.

Israel must be abandoned by the whole world to fulfill prophecy. And at this time the Jews are blinded, unable to see what is plainly before them. So we should not be surprised that they reject any common sense even when it pertains to their own interests. They are an "obstinate" people according to scripture.

And if we "rightly divide" the Bible like we are instructed to do then we would recognize that Israel is not God´s chosen people at this time; the is no difference in any of us in God´s eyes. But that does not mean God is not setting the world stage to fulfill his prophesy of coming to fight on Israel´s side against the whole world when the time comes. It is quite comical to watch the world leaders believe they can bring peace between the Jews and Palestinians. The Jews will eventually have enemies wishing for their demise on every side with no one in the world willing to help. It´s all there for anyone to read.

But that the world will ignore it is there in prophecy too. Go figure.

Now that the messiah is president we have colon powell signing on to the same ugly anti semitism that is rife within this administration.

Clearly Rev. Wright´s disciples are willingly coming out now that O is safely re-elected.

Israel is our only true ally in the middle east, yet O is willing to see to their destruction to appease his fellow muslims.

Pray for the free world.

#10, I´d rewrite the part that says " I did not speak out" to read "did not provide over-watch and covering fire" - much more useful than speaking out to LPs who don´t care what you have to say but do respect your ability to plant them 6 feet under. Apparently Martin hadn´t figured that out yet (if ever) when he wrote his letter. Hitler wouldn´t have cared what the Jews/´Good´ Germans said, but he would have cared if they had been in a position to plant him. Just like modern LPs. Which is why he disarmed them first.

On orders from Moscow, American Jewish Communists suspended criticism of Hitler during the August 1939-June 1941 period of the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact. Violation of that edict was called “premature antifascism” and men died for it.

What a different world this would be if Hitler had only been tipped off about the word Fasciaphobe.

It´s safe to say we´ve never had an American president who so enjoyed slapping our allies in the face and bowing to our adversaries - as Obama has.

And a great many of us never dreamed we´d have a little Emperor in ´control´ and having his way on so many different levels - bashing, trashing and trampling on basic beliefs and traditions we Americans believe in. And his motives? Too chilling and frightening to even think about now - with four more years to go.

Not that it isn´t a bloody shame that so many Catholics voted for Obama, twice. Just like among Jews, Marxism was injected into the culture virtually unopposed for a long time.

I am in constant confusion about the American Jews- they seem so intent on self destruction with their constant votes for Democrats. Their support for Øbama, in spite of both his speeches and actions against Israel and the leaders of Israel made not one iota of difference to the American Jewish vote- they almost unanimously supported Øbama. What a foolish group of fantasy believers. The Hagel nomination won´t change any American Jewish minds, either. Øbama could nominate an openly Nazi saluting candidate and the American Jews would still make excuses to support the Democrat. Amazing ethnic blindness.

First, let´s not use euphemisms - it´s not "anti-Israel, anti-Semitic members of the Senate;" it´s "anti-Isreal, anti-Jew members of the Senate." What other "Semitic" group are they opposed to?

If they are anti-Jew, what makes the American Liberal Jews think there is something different between themselves and Israel?

As #8 says, Jewishness for the American Jew has become just something they were born with. Do they think the Anti-Jews in this country will treat that as, say, something covered by the American with Disabilities Act? It did not protect the Jews of Reconquista Spain or Crusader Europe or WW2 Germany.

They don´t CARE is you act like Jew. It is the fact that you ARE a Jew.

As Prophet Jeremiah (who had a lot of experience with Jews on this point)said:

"Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not".

Ben is way off the mark here. What we are witnessing in the Hagel nomination is another battle in a war WITHIN the Jewish community about the way FORWARD and the rest of us are getting punked. There or 11 or 12 Jewish Senators-including Al Franken who Ben Stein endorsed in 2008--any one of whom could put a hold on Hagel’s confirmation. Why no hold, why no leadership on this nomination, and why are the GOP Senators supposed to lead on this matter when 80%, not 2/3, voted for Zero twice? Axelrod who is Jewish managed both Obama campaigns...Rahm, his first chief of staff chose go to Israel and support the IDF during the first Gulf War instead of enlisting here...Lew, Zero’s current chief of staff is an Orthodox Jew and is the nominee to replace another as Secy of Treasury...heck, Zero’s appointed chair of the DNC is Jewish...whinning and saying this is simply a Zero play is ludicrous...that´s why I respected our Jonah´s column last week where in effect he said, kill Hagel´s nomination and confirm Michelle Flournoy as the first Secy of Def. At least she married well...

Jews fear the Christians more than they fear the Muslim in office. They will continue to vote Dem and they will repeat history. It shouldn´t surprise anyone since the Jewish lobby and Jews who own media operations continue to help the Dems get elected. Glad Mr Stein has finally told the truth about what is going on.

FTA: “Barack Obama got two thirds of the Jewish vote.”

It was even worse. He got 70%.

“the really committed left-wing Jew does not care much about Israel. “

The “really committed left-wing Jew” is in reality an atheist who either no longer or never did believe in God. Yet they are still included as Jews. We American Christians however order our reality differently.

To us, it is God, family, country, in that order, and we take it seriously. An American who sells out America to her enemies has no claim to the title. A Republican who campaigns for the Democrat candidate is a traitor and a pariah. A Christian who betrays Christians is a Judas and an outcast.

Looking in from the outside, the obvious conclusions are that to Jews it is Tribe, Tribe, Tribe, in THAT order, with God as little more than a cultural relic, that America is just a big market, and that Jews were Jews long before God spoke to Abraham and will still be Jews long after they have forgotten God.

So perhaps one may understand why an old conservative Christian´s support for Israel has evaporated since 70% of those who are supposed to care just helped saddle America with 4 more years of her destruction, yet the 30% continue to embrace the 70% and ridicule and reject the evangelical Christians who are their only true friends.

I am free. I will watch for the New Jerusalem somewhere else.

I hope they are counting Catholics among those ´evangelical Christians´ who support Israel. I believe that most of us consider Jews the ´parents´ of our faith.

Jesus, Mary, Joseph, John the Baptist, Peter, Thomas, Andrew, Mary Magdalene, Elizabeth, Lydia, Martha -- all our founders were Jews -- except for Paul who opened the door and extended the faith to the gentile. Without Jews, Catholics would have no church.

Add that to the millions who identify as Catholic or Christian, in name only, and still vote for a President who is fulfilling his intentions instilled from birth; to take down the Great Satan United States to the level of the simpering, groveling E.U. which will cower at the powers of Islam, China & Russia and turn U.S. into a Godless used-to-be super power. I have a dear, dear Orthodox Jewish friend with family in Israel who said Israelis would have voted Bush 43 in for a 3rd term. So, while many American Jews don´t support Israel, and that´s what it comes down to with their support of Obama, we conservatives, evangelicals and Christians should continue our steadfast support of Israel. They need our support and prayers.

Sometimes it boggles my mind how much they hate us. The Jewish messiah - the real one - taught us something else, though: He taught us to love even those who would kill us. Because He did.

How America Lost
Its Four Great Generals

The quasi-official ideology of the U.S. armed forces holds that generals are virtually interchangeable, that individual personalities don’t matter much, that ordinary grunts are in any case more important than their leaders, and that what really counts are larger systems that make a complex bureaucracy function. There is some truth to all of this. But for all of the bureaucratic heft of the services and the heroism of ordinary soldiers, it is hard to imagine the Civil War having been won without Grant, Sherman, and Sheridan—or World War II without Marshall, Eisenhower, Patton, Bradley, Arnold, LeMay, Nimitz, Halsey,

Last August a 28-year-old gay-rights volunteer named Floyd Corkins entered the office lobby of the Family Research Council (FRC), a Christian traditional-values group headquartered in Washington that condemns homosexual conduct and opposes same-sex marriage. Corkins took a gun from his backpack and fired three shots at building manager Leo Johnson, one of them wounding the unarmed Johnson in the arm before he wrested the gun from Corkins. On February 6 Corkins pleaded guilty to three felonies: committing an act of terrorism while armed, interstate transportation of a firearm and ammunition

FORT WORTH -- For 21/2 years, Germain Gardea kept his wives in the dark. The 38-year-old flight instructor spent weekdays in Arlington with his first wife, Jennifer Saldivar, and their young son. On weekends, he left town for his job as an instructor at a flight school, residing in Grapevine with his second wife, Leslie Gardea, who traveled during the week. To keep the women from finding out about each other, he created fake divorce documents on the Internet and filed his first wife´s taxes, marking her as single without her knowledge. But the deception came crashing down in May after Leslie Gardea

Eliana Johnson reports that four Republican members of the Senate Judiciary — Jeff Sessions, Chuck Grassley, Mike Lee, and Ted Cruz — are calling for transparency from their GOP colleagues in the “Gang of Eight” that is drafting immigration reform legislation. In a letter to John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio, and Jeff Flake, the four Judiciary Committee members express concern that an immigration reform bill will be rushed through Congress without proper oversight in the form of hearings and robust debate. They note that the Gang has “secretly met for months” without consulting

The Supreme Court could soon end one of the federal government´s most archaic practices. Since the 1930s, the Agriculture Department has turned California raisin growers into pawns of its Raisin Administrative Committee, which can commandeer up to half of the farmer´s crop and then pay them little or nothing for the product. Marvin Horne, a 67-year-old raisin farmer in Fresno, Calif., was fined almost $700,000 for refusing to surrender control of much of his harvest to the government committee in 2002. Horne, who has been growing raisins for more than 40 years,

There are many who scoff at Andrew Cuomo’s chances in a presidential primary campaign, but I am not among them. His name is an iconic Democratic brand, he’s forceful on the stump and a prodigious fund-raiser. Besides, somebody has to win the nomination. Of course, there are hurdles. Saint Hillary is gearing up to run, and there will be a scrum among contenders, probably including Vice President Joe Biden, competing just to be Clinton’s top rival. The scenario, then, is daunting but doable — or at least it was,

A great superpower, weakened by economic calamity at home and staggering under the debt from years of war in the Middle East, finally collapses. A new political best-seller, or an apocalyptic Hollywood blockbuster? Neither — it´s the story told by a 1622 shipwreck whose treasures were desperately needed to shore up the finances of the struggling Spanish Empire. The galleon Buen Jesus y Nuestra Senora del Rosario was one of 28 ships in the Tierra Firme fleet; all were sailing from the New World back to Spain, laden with colonial treasures,

How the ´indispensable man´ became

Historian James Thomas Flexner referred to George Washington as "the indispensable man." Americans all know he was a general, but have you ever wondered what grade of general? How many stars did Gen. Washington have? In today´s Army, a one-star general is a brigadier; two stars is a major general; three stars is a lieutenant general; four stars is just plain general. During World War II, Congress created the five-star general, the modern rank of general of the Army. There had been an earlier grade that was called general of the Army,

Meanwhile, many of South Korea’s youth were worried about something else. A 25-year-old pop star named Seo In-guk had appeared on a popular reality TV show the night before and, in a misstep that quickly dominated online conversations, had washed his strawberries incorrectly. Because the F.B.I. is investigating Eric Murdock, the whistleblowing former assistant coach, for extortion. University officials let it slip to The New York Times´ Steve Eder that Federal Bureau of Investigation officers recently visited the campus and met with athletic director Tim Pernetti sometime before Pernetti was fired on Friday. Imagine the pitch to a History Channel executive for the smash hit The Bible. Here’s one scenario: Producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett: “Hi, we want to produce a story that appeals to all age groups. It’s has everything: love, lust, greed, war, self-sacrifice and redemption. It’s called ‘The Bible.’” Executive: “Could you repeat that? You said ‘The Bible’?” RD and MB: “Yes – we want to retell the Bible for this generation. And we think we can make money doing it. We’ve done a lot of market research —there is no competition out there.”

Since the Shermans of General Patton´s Third Army crossed the Rhine on March 22, 1945, there have been American tanks in Germany. No more, as John Vandiver of Stars and Stripes reports. The U.S. Army’s 69-year history of basing main battle tanks on German soil quietly ended last month when 22 Abrams tanks, a main feature of armored combat units throughout the Cold War, embarked for the U.S. The departure of the last M-1 Abrams tanks coincides with the inactivation of two of the Army’s Germany-based heavy brigades.

Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. And pundits and reporters aren´t the only ones positing the "The Hillary Factor": No less than the House Democratic whip, Steny Hoyer, told BuzzFeed, “I don´t know that anybody would run against Hillary…. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent

In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

Her betrayal consists of being gauche enough to acknowledge publicly a truth that everyone who’s come up through Ivy League culture knows intuitively —

According to a White House statement, the Obama administration believes the current rules allow some wealthy individuals "to accumulate many millions of dollars in these accounts, substantially more than is needed to fund reasonable levels of retirement saving." "The budget would limit an individual’s total balance across tax-preferred accounts to an amount sufficient to finance an annuity of not more than $205,000 per
