You got further than I did, OP. I think the last Scarpetta book I read all the way through was "Body Farm." I don´t think I finished "From Potters Field." If Cornwell had stuck to the forensics of her stories and had not delved into ´lifestyle choices,´ I might have read the whole series.

I quit reading her when the niece was suddenly gay and Scapetta was having the affair with the FBI agent, she was supposed to be friends with his wife (yeah, right). Guess somebody must have still been reading.

Personally, I am a big fan of Clive Cussler. His heros Austin, Pitt and Cabrillo are great. I also enjoy the fact that somebody writes books that have heros that still love America.

Just finished "Threat Vector",Clancy´s latest, #4. The premise, while realistic, is too far reaching to be realistic. I´ve been a fan since his first book, but he´s starting to lose me.

Gave up on Patricia Cornwell and Kay Scarpetta years ago as did every reader I know. Used to love her mysteries, but when it became all about Kay and the niece and their private and public exploits I was out of there. Can´t believe she is still on the bestseller list.

Nice to see a pal of hitlery klinton getting the same treatment they give to the rest of us.

I tried really hard to like Cornwell´s books. Read a few. The last one I read - she just sort of stopped writing. No real ending. Scarpetta is not a likable character. The only one who is - I think his name is Marino (the fat cop) - she never misses a chance to belittle him. I don´t know who´s reading her books now but I won´t read anymore.

Folks, you have to read Vince Flynn! He writes some good stuff. Try ´Term Limits.´

I read Cornwell years ago but gave up on her. For a while her plots read like she was under contract for X number of books a year and she was just fulfilling her contract.
That said…it´s her money and she can spend it any way she wants.

I used to like Cornwell´s books. They had great plots, but then one day I realized I simply didn´t like Kay Scarpetta and her whiny niece at all. So I quit reading them. Now, I am a huge fan of Vince Flynn, Brad Thor, C.J. Box, Michael Connelly, Robert Crais and Andrew Klavan.

A few years ago she claimed there was a conspiracy to post negative reviews of her book on Amazon. You didn´t need a conspiracy - her later works are awful. But as others have said, the first couple were very good. Sounds like she is trying to buy happiness, which is impossible in this world.

The book reviews are interesting, but this article is not about her books. It is about her belief that the company she hired to manage her financial interests didn´t do so properly.

What she has spent is no one´s business, including the snoopy tabloid Mail´s. And her being a lesbian is beside the point as well.

It should not be difficult to prove her contention legally. The rest is just gossip.

Now, about Mooch and her spending. And her books don´t hold a candle to Cornwell´s earliest ones.

I don´t know who´s right or wrong in the lawsuit but it´s a little hard in these times to feel sympathy for someone "down to their last $13,000,000." And that for writing junk books and being admittedly bi-polar which is the PC way of saying she has absolutely no self-control.

I maintain, lesbians are a crazy bunch.

If you have it, spend it! You can´t take it with you. Still, I wonder how much good 100 million could do rather than just flashing it and wasting it as this dumb gal seems to do.

She seems to be unaware of how much money she actually spends. She´s unhappy that her asset managers didn´t "insulate" her from her wealth, but they probably accommodated her every whim, since they work for her -- what are they going to say? No?

Makes me think of that funny Walter Matthau movie, A New Leaf. A wealthy man exhausts his fortune by living a lifestyle that exceeds his income from said fortune. He devises a scheme to marry an heiress (played by Elaine May) and then kill her, but events don´t don´t play out according to plan.

What I mean is "... events don´t play out according to plan."

I too stopped reading Cornwell many years ago. The first few books were okay and then she went off the rails. #12 Thanks for a new author, C.J. Box. Never read him but have read every book by all the other authors you mentioned. So glad to have a new author. Gregg Hurwitz and John Lutz are pretty good too.

I loved A New Leaf, #18. It was one of my all time favorites.
As for writers--I´ll just keep reading J.A.Jance. J.P. Beaumont and Joanna Brady are my kind of people.

Article is a bit confusing. The disputes with Snapper seem to have been going on since 2009.

There is probably truth on both sides, she spent a lot of it and Snapper, et al, also took some.

I can imagine $40k/month for a fine apartment in Trump Tower. The best in NYC costs plenty. But the article says $40k for a room? What kind of room would that be?

What does Gruber do with her money if they blew all of Patricia´s ?
