Powell defends Clinton on Benghazi:
‘You can’t keep everything from happening’

Former Secretary of State Gen. Colin Powell defended current Secretary of State Hillary Clinton´s handling of the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, saying it could´ve happened under anyone´s watch. "I think she´s had a distinguished record," Powell said in an interview on NBC´s "Meet The Press" broadcast Sunday. "And I don´t think that this one incident--which is one of these things that those of us in government have been through many, many times where suddenly an action happens late at night ... I don´t think it´s a blot on her record." "You´re surprised," Powell said

Comments:
It´s been 4+ months and virtually no one has come forward with the truth about what happened in Benghazi. Colon is OK with that - as long as ´O´ doesn´t get his garments dirtied.

Yes colon, repeatedly telling troops to ´stand down´ and leaving 30+ people to die is perfectly fine, and anyone else would have done the same. /s

One wonders how it happened that Colin Powell was scheduled to appear at this particular time. Whose idea was it? Why now?

It seems pretty obvious that someone has dusted him off, wound him up, and sent him forth to promote the current administration´s agenda. He should stop pretending to be a Republican. He is a Democrat.

His comments about Benghazi are disingenuous - to say the least. There is ample evidence of advance warning and even pleas for increased security from the embassy. They knew they were in danger. Hillary Clinton and others tried to mislead Americans immediately after the attack by blaming it on a spontaneous protest over an anti-Muslim film.

Finally, I wish just one time, when someone gushes over what an outstanding record Hillary Clinton has compiled as Secretary of State, they would tell us one thing she has actually accomplished that justifies such praise. Maybe I missed it - but all I have seen is her parading around and acting like somebody important. What has she actually done or accomplished for the U.S.?

Yes, Colin Powell is working for the obama administration. He had all of his lines memorized, and David Gregory read from the script. We were supposed to believe that Powell did his own research and held his own opinions about the Hagel nomination and Hillary´s suitability for president. Then he winds it all up by stating once more that he is a Republican. He´s only opposed to the "extremist" in the party (none mentioned in the dem party). He further works himself up with umbrage toward the suggestion that obama is lazy. That´s clearly racist, since the next (imaginary) descriptors are "shiftless", etc.

Colin, I bet you couldn´t get a Republican on the Hill to buy you a cup of coffee, you lazy, shiftless, racist, false-flag waving, traitor.

What a disgrace to his country, his uniform, and worst of all to the military. He has clearly revealed himself as a racist, an anti-semite, and has lined up on the side of the communists in our government who call themselves democrats.

Dictator Obama and the Secretary of Disgrace, Pantload Hillary, are responsible for the deaths of our brave Seals on that rooftop in Benghazi. They deliberately withheld support that would have saved them. Colin Powell was an affirmative action general and it shows in spades.

He must be angling for a position in Dictator Obama´s collection of thugs, communists, and criminals which these days are called his cabinet.

I ask you general Powell, have you ever heard of these three words: Duty, Honor, Country and if you did you then clearly you do not understand the meaning of them. You, sir, are a without honor or dignity. For Shame.

I, too, am baffled whenever anyone talks about Hillary´s distinguished record as Secretary of State.
What is that record? What are the instances where she acted in a distinguished way?
Was it the re-set button with Russia, when they laughed at her so heartily, some KGB pants might have been wetted?
Was it when she said, about libya and khadaffi, ´we came, we saw, we killed?´
Can anyone point out one success? The Arab Spring? North Korea´s nuclear program? Iran´s general mischief? Syria, when she said the president there was a reformer??

Powell is pathetic in his attempt to help Clinton. Hillary shamelessly lied lies regarding Benghazi and proved herself once again to be incompetent. Now Powell fears this will hurt her in race for the White House. Above all, Powell does not want the GOP to win. Remember, this "Republican" endorsed Obama.

1. OK, ´fess up. Who asked for this mutt´s opinion? [Good questions raised above -- why him, why now?]

2. As bad, as horrible, as criminal as was the immediate handling of Benghazi, there were in fact greater, earlier errors. One is general, one is specific. a. the general error -- not having armed Americans on site providing the security at our facilities in Muslim nations. In many of them, we were "required" to use local security by the Muslim gov´ts. Worse than reckless, it proved deadly. b. the specific error -- treating 9/11 like "just another day." Especially, it appears, in the face of intel that there would be attacks on us [not that being extra-suspicious that attacks would occur was on a par with history´s 10 greatest insights].

Support for the health care reform law is at its lowest point since it was enacted four years ago, according to a new poll. The Associated Press survey found that only 26 percent of Americans support the Affordable Care Act, President Barack Obama’s signature domestic achievement. Forty-three percent said they are opposed to the law. The poll was conducted online, and online polls are typically not as accurate as telephone polls. But the results nevertheless point to political peril for Democratic congressional candidates in the midterm elections, with Republicans again running against the law across the country. MOSCOW - President Vladimir Putin on Friday said Russia´s takeover of Crimea showed off its military prowess, as his defence minister reported that the Russian flag was now flying over all military sites on the Black Sea peninsula. In a Kremlin ceremony with senior security officials, Sergei Shoigu told Putin that all Ukrainian servicemen still loyal to Kiev have left the Crimea region, whose annexation by Moscow has led to the worst stand-off with the West since the Cold War. Washington - The United States and Europe must stand firm in rejecting Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and its annexation of Crimea not just because they challenge the principles a peaceful and prosperous Europe is built on, President Obama said Wednesday in Brussels, but also because they thwart "universal values" of freedom and self-determination that stir all humanity. The president’s speech – the format Mr. Obama has favored for delivering big messages in foreign places – came at the end of a day during which the American leader visited for the first time two pillars of trans-Atlantic relations: NATO headquarters and

BRUSSELS — President Obama said Wednesday that Europe and the United States now face “a moment of testing” that challenges their unity and the international order they have worked for generations to build. In a speech Wednesday evening at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in this Belgian capital, Obama suggested that the current standoff with Russia over its incursion into Ukraine is part of a more fundamental struggle between democratic ideals and “an older, more traditional view of power.” He warned against “complacency” in the face of what he called Russia’s violations of international law in taking over Crimea. “If we

A few weeks ago, I wrote about how the sweeping acceptance of gay marriage in recent years is owed in large part to Christianity. Rejecting the rigidly hierarchical and stratified societies of the ancient world, Jesus Christ taught the equal dignity of all persons, proclaimed that the meek shall inherit the earth, and declared that the last shall be first and the first shall be last. The Western world has been working out the logic of these subversive teachings ever since, with the institutional transformation of marriage being the latest, though surely not the last, example of its social, moral,

NATO commander Gen. Philip Breedlove told a conference in Brussels that the Russian force along the Ukrainian border "is very, very sizable and very, very ready" and that "Russia is acting

At least 59 people have died in Guinea following the outbreak of deadly flesh-eating virus Ebola. The first cases of the haemorrhagic fever were spotted late last month. With no known cure or vaccine, health ministers have warned people to stay inside while they try to stop it spreading. Symptoms include internal and external bleeding, vomiting and diarrhoea. It is spread by personal contact and kills 25-90 per cent of those infected. ´In Guinea, a country with a weak medical infrastructure, an outbreak like this can be devastating,´ the Unicef representative in Guinea, Dr. Mohamed Ag Ayoya, said in a

Former President Jimmy Carter believes U.S. intelligence agencies are spying on him — so much so, he eschews email to avoid government spies. "You know, I have felt that my own communications are probably monitored," Carter told NBC´s Andrea Mitchell in an interview broadcast Sunday. "And when I want to communicate with a foreign leader privately, I type or write a letter myself, put it in the post office and mail it. (Snip) The 39th president, however, stopped short of criticizing No. 44 over the handling of the N.S.A. scandal, the crisis in Ukraine or anything else. "I don´t have any

All 17 Democrats on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee have called on Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) to end the “partisan” investigation into the Benghazi attack “and begin focusing instead on conducting responsible oversight to implement constructive reforms.” The Dems, led by ranking member Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), charged that the probe “has been characterized by wild and unsubstantiated political accusations that turn out to be completely inaccurate.” They proceeded to outline those instances in the five-page letter. “Continuing this reckless pattern of launching wholly unfounded accusations on national television — and racking up more and more Pinocchios in the process —

As part of its plan to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, the Obama administration is targeting the dairy industry to reduce methane emissions in their operations. This comes despite falling methane emission levels across the economy since 1990. The White House has proposed cutting methane emissions from the dairy industry by 25 percent by 2020. Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas. Some of these methane emissions come from

In an address to the House on Wednesday, Alabama Representative Mo Brooks read aloud a letter sent to him by Dr. Marlin Gill of Decatur. The letter holds nothing back while detailing the excessive costs and regulations that Dr. Gill calls Obamacare’s “war against doctors.” Here is the full text of the letter, courtesy of Rep. Brooks’ office: Dear Congressman Brooks, As a practicing family physician, I plead for help against what I can best characterize as Washington’s war against doctors. The medical profession has never before remotely approached today’s stress, work hours, wasted costs, decreased efficiency, and declining ability to focus on patient

After a disastrous presidential campaign in 2012, can Texas Governor Rick Perry mount a credible bid for the White House in 2016? Texas Governor Rick Perry is currently on a media tour touting the theme that America is a great place for second chances, specifically second chances for Texas governors with national ambitions. Perry is trying to erase the memory of his disastrous 2012 GOP presidential campaign which included “brain-farts” and “oops” debate moments with his folksy, charming, and uniquely American manner. Curious about Perry’s comeback strategy, I asked Texan and GOP presidential media guru, Mark McKinnon and he said,

Please, try not to let what I’m about to tell you destroy your faith in the integrity of the national Democratic Party. Right now, a crime wave is sweeping the nation, and everyone in this out-of-control mob has a D after their names, even if most of the media are loath to report it. If you are a low-information voter, a Globe subscriber, say, you have been told endlessly that the root of all evil in American politics is the Tea Party, better known in your moonbat media as “teabaggers.” Oddly, however, the hacks rounded up over the last few days, well,

Ann Furedi, of BPAS, said the law does not prevent women from choosing a termination on the grounds of gender and she even compared it to abortion after rape. Mrs Furedi´s comments come weeks after it was disclosed that the CPS had decided not to prosecute two doctors who were exposed by a Daily Telegraph investigation arranging terminations purely because the unborn baby was a girl. A group of 50 MPs, drawn from across the party divide, then wrote to this newspaper warning that the decision was a “step back in the fight for gender equality” and effectively changes the law without

A University of Virginia student arrested by Alcoholic Beverage Control agents who wrongly believed she´d illegally bought beer when in fact she only had bottled water is seeking $40 million in a lawsuit filed Tuesday. Elizabeth K. Daly, 21, alleges malicious prosecution, six counts of assault and battery and failure to appropriately train ABC agents in the suit which names the state and seven agents involved in her arrest. (Snip) Daly claimed she attempted to flee from the agents because neither were in uniform, one pulled a gun, and the other tried to smash her car window with a flashlight. ´My

A startling rift appeared Tuesday on the Supreme Court as the three female Justices came out swinging like Brunnhildes — women warriors — for what they erroneously labeled an “entitlement” to employer-provided contraceptives and morning-after pills. The Justices were hearing oral arguments in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., a case hyped by the Democratic Party as a test for women’s rights. Justices Kagan, Ginsberg, and Sotomayor sprang on Hobby Lobby’s attorney , interrupting his every sentence and pummeling him with questions taken right out of the Democratic Party’s “war on women” playbook. That playbook was laid out in a

President Obama marveled at the sheer size of the Colosseum during a private sightseeing tour Thursday night in Rome. "This is bigger than some current baseball stadiums," Obama told reporters, noting the size exceeded Wrigley Field in his hometown of Chicago. "I have to check on what it seats. It´s remarkable. Unbelievable." The amphitheatre, located in central Rome, was constructed between 70 and 80 A.D., and was estimated to hold between 50,000 and 80,000 spectators. The Colosseum was home to gladiator battles and animal hunts during the Roman Empire. Obama walked along a platform running through the center of the

President Obama said Pope Francis did not raise Obamacare “in detail” when they met on Thursday, but that in a separate meeting with the Vatican’s secretary of state “we discussed briefly the issue of making sure that conscience and religious freedom was observed in the context of applying the law.” At a joint press conference with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, Obama also acknowledged that he differs with the Vatican’s stance on some issues, but added that he “heartily” agrees with most of its positions. During his nearly hour-long papal audience, Obama said Pope Francis “actually did not touch in

Only "mere scraps of data documented" Barack Obama´s mother´s "days in Seattle," writes Obama biographer David Maraniss in his 2012 Barack Obama: The Story. Incidentally, Maraniss was telling the truth: Ann´s "days in Seattle" weren´t mentioned in Dreams from my Father and were only vaguely implied in Maraniss´s lengthy 2008 article. And it appears that the only "scraps" of evidence of Obama´s mother´s time in Seattle during 1961-1962 was a listing in a Seattle Polk directory and a University of Washington (UW) transcript. And it appears that the only "mere scraps" of evidence of baby Barack´s time in Seattle are

The past couple of weeks have marked a turning point in American ugliness as the mob has turned its full fury on first lady Michelle Obama. From criticism of her trip to China to a recent “tell-all” by former White House assistant press secretary Reid Cherlin in the New Republic about Obama’s allegedly tyrannical behavior, the gloves have been removed. As described, she was a perfectionist — super-attentive to detail and laser-focused on advance planning. And this is bad because? Worse, according to a former (anonymous) staffer, there was no barometer for meeting Obama’s high standards. “The first lady having
