NRA President Schools Candy
Crowley: Obama and Feinstein
Are Driving Gun Sales Not Us!

Newsbusters, by Noel Sheppard

CNN´s Candy Crowley on Sunday floated the typical media nonsense about how the National Rifle Association is ginning up fear to sell more guns in the wake of the massacre in Newtown, Connecticut. Fortunately for State of the Union viewers, NRA President David Keene was on the set to correctly point out, "The two people who are selling so-called assault rifles are Senator Feinstein and President Obama not us" (video follows with transcript and commentary): CANDY CROWLEY, HOST: One of the big questions here has been

No, it isn´t perfectly logical...and you don´t have to be a liberal to see it differently. When they tried to have a conversation about how to prevent another Newtown, how to prevent another unstable individual from easily getting hold of weapons that could mow down a classroom full of first-graders...the NRA´s LaPierre went out, held a press conference (at which he took no questions) to declare that every school should be armed! Completely ignored the subject...how to keep the Adam Lanza´s of the world from getting into the position where they could do such heinous acts. Instead, went all-out with the cry, "More guns are the answer! More guns in more places!"

And the NRA has the gall to claim that they aren´t the ones promoting more guns???

#1: LaPierre is the head of an organization that supports the 2nd Amendment rights of American citizens. It is not a government organization, nor is it a mental health organization. He was right. An armed responder would have at least had a chance to stop the carnage early on and all those kids might still be alive.

Feinstein´s statement about her bill was that it would affect any guns that would be purchased after the date the bill passed. Tell me that isn´t an advertisement to "buy your guns now because it´ll be too late soon!" And tell me, when her biggest benefactors -- the California teacher´s union -- has invested in gun manufacturers, that that wasn´t an attempt to help them get a windfall before they bail on the stock -- which they just announced they plan to do (after the buying frenzy, of course).

It was up to Lanza´s mother to keep guns away from him. How many people even knew he existed?

Obama and Feinstein are driving the gun sales. We do not trust government to protect us or even to understand the problem. Put that together with distrust of Obama´s intention to transform our country into what he thinks it should be and the people begin to think about other countries, such as Russia, who disarmed their population rendering it helpless sheep for the shearing and deciding they wouldn´t let it happen here. The guns are just in case.

I used to be anti gun but I came to my senses.

People can see that this president´s policies and attitude are promoting chaos. In the face of chaos, people feel like they have to be prepared to defend themselves, their homes, and their families.

Why do the politicians in Chicago tolerate large hunks of that city in utter chaos? Because it keeps people in fear and keeps them elected.

#1: How many ARMED guards protect the children where Obama´s girls attend - and have been guarding it, BEFORE Obama -

How many ARMED guards protect Obama and everyone else in that administration?

So, apparently having gun to protect them is ok for the ´ruling class´ but not ok for we peons?

Home invasions, where the perpetrator violently kicks down the door and attacks the homeowners in residence are on the rise in my area. I do not plan to go quietly. Perhaps you do. I´m glad you aren´t making the decisions for MY family.

You want to prevent the Adam Lanza´s of the world from getting guns? Easy, commit them to mental institutions. My rights shouldn´t suffer because this person´s mother was stupid. She had firearms in the home, accessible to a mentally ill person. It never ceases to amaze me the stupid things people do that result in someone being killed.

We will never be able to keep weapons out of the hands of people who want to do harm. To think otherwise is to live in a fantasy. Meth amphetamines, heroin, cocaine, etc. are all "banned". Anyone can get them, anywhere in the world. We as a nation once banned alcoholic beverages. It did not work. In fact, every society in history has "banned" murder. It has not worked. Bans on anything will never work. If you are honest with yourself you already know that. All any ban has ever done is increase demand, spawn black markets and taken away the liberty of law-abiding people. Fact.

#7: One of the possible motives Adam Lanza went berserk was that his mother was allegedly in the process of getting him committed. Retrospectively, we would say she should have done it earlier. I think it is not difficult to criticize the mother for doing a stupid thing like encouraging him to use guns when she knew of his impulsivity, but sometimes, being a parent blinds one to the evil nature of one´s offspring.

The problem continues to fester because society still doesn´t know how to responsibly deal with people with mental illness. Competing interests in protecting society from the mentally ill and ensuring the mentally ill are not mistreated. The solution will not soon be reached because the poisonous atmosphere, for which I mostly blame the progressives, between left and the right kills any good faith discussion.

Democratic Party officials believe that Kevin Strouse is exactly the kind of candidate who can help them retake the House next year. He’s a smart, young former Army Ranger — good qualities for any aspiring politician. But what party leaders really like is that Strouse doesn’t have particularly strong views on the country’s hottest issues. Immigration? Tax policy? “Certainly I have a lot of research to do,” Strouse acknowledged in an interview Thursday as he announced his candidacy in a suburban Philadelphia House district. Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

Carbon emissions in the US were at their lowest level in 2012 since 1994, according to figures released by the US Energy Information Administration. We did it without carbon trading scams, the EPA making carbon dioxide a poison, or obeying the dictates of the Kyoto climate Treaty. We did it partly because of decreased economic activity as a result of the Obama recovery-that-isn’t, but mostly because of good old fashioned market forces; competition between natural gas and coal: Energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in 2012 were the lowest in the United States since 1994

It is amazing just how wrong economists were in their predictions for the number of jobs that were to be created in March. The “consensus” figure was 200,000 — a far cry from the actual number created which was 88,000. Totally “unexpected,” as usual. In one way, you can’t blame them. After a better than average gain in February of 236,000 (revised upward this month to 268,000), along with some positive numbers in housing and consumer spending, there were no doubt many analysts who began breathing a sigh of relief and believing that the long-awaited jobs recovery was upon us.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”
