NBC’s Gregory won’t be charged for

The host of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” David Gregory, will not be arrested or charged with a crime for waiving what he claimed was a high-capacity ammunition gun clip on national television last month. D.C. attorney general Irvin B. Nathan announced his decision Friday afternoon by releasing a letter to an attorney for NBC. Nathan wrote that though the device Gregory held up “meets the definition” of the criminal statute, he wrote that prosecution “would not promote public safety in the District of Columbia nor serve the best interests of the people of the District to whom this office owes...

Well that didn´t take long. Meanwhile in New York, Ryan Jerome, a Marine, was forced to accept a plea deal (pay $1,200 in fines and perform 10 hours of community service) or face three and a half years in prison after being arrested Sept. 27 for carrying a .45-caliber Ruger that was legally registered in his home state.

Based on the prosecutor´s explanation for not going forward with charges against Gregory, I have an idea.

There will be at least one pro-2nd Amendment march in Washington D.C. in the coming weeks. Would happen if each one of those tens of thousands of Americans carried with them and brandished a an empty 30-rd AR magazine in protest?

Separate laws for the privileged class.

NBC, to maintain impartiality, should demand that Gregory be fined. Otherwise, they come off as being in cahoots with the liberal agenda.

So why do they have that Law if it´s silly to prosecute anyone under it?

Now that they failed to charge him, any future charges against others for the same thing are likely to get thrown out if they have even a middlin´ attorney - equal protection, donch´a know.

This was the right decision, much as I would enjoy seeing a character like Gregory get what´s coming to him. It would have been a foolish, wasteful, unnecessary waste of resources to prosecute him for using an ammunition magazine as a prop when everyone knows there was no criminal intent or danger. Prosecutions like that are what Leftists do, not conservatives. It might well have had a different outcome had Limbaugh or someone on the Right waved the empty magazine - but that is the world we live in.

An orderly protest over the death of an armed 16-year-old turned into a riot in Brooklyn tonight after young people started lashing out at NYPD officers. Between 60 and 100 rioters gathered around Church and Snyder Ave. in East Flatbush and threw bottles and other debris at police, witnesses said, following a vigil for Kimani Gray, 16, who was shot dead by two plainclothes officers over the weekend. One person has been arrested, though no injuries have been reported. They were lashing out at the NYPD, who they believe are responsible for the teen’s death.

ROCHESTER — Starting April 15, New York will have the smallest gun magazine limit in the country, and all signs indicate no gun makers have plans to accommodate it. Gun manufacturers have never had a reason to make a magazine with fewer than 10 rounds, because no state required it until now. And, as far as local gun dealers and the Democrat and Chronicle have been able to determine, there are no manufacturers planning to make seven-round magazines. This means that in less than two months, gun dealers such as Paul Martin, owner of Pro-Gun Services in Victor…

CHICAGO — A federal appeals court won´t reconsider an earlier ruling that Illinois´ concealed carry ban is unconstitutional. A three-judge panel of the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals struck down Illinois´ ban in December and gave lawmakers until June 8 to legalize the concealed carry of firearms. Attorney General Lisa Madigan asked for all 10 judges to review the decision, saying it conflicted with decisions by other federal appellate courts and goes beyond what the U.S. Supreme Court has held. Illinois is the only state in the nation that still has a ban in place.
