Kerry´s words on Assad
certain to draw scrutiny

Associated Press, by Donna Cassata

Original Article

Sen. John Kerry has held up Syria as a country that could bring peace and stability to the Mideast and predicted that the now-disgraced government of President Bashar Assad would pursue a legitimate relationship with the United States. Those assertions are certain to draw scrutiny at Kerry´s confirmation hearing to be secretary of state as Assad´s brutal crackdown has plunged his country into civil war.

Kerry has been a demonstrative foreign policy idiot for several decades now, so I´m sure this won´t hurt his chances. . . In fact, when it comes to Democrats, being stupid and proud of it is viewed as an attribute as long as it makes America look bad.

Kerry may be an idiot, but read the article and examine his words carefully, especially in context of the last paragraph. I read this as a dose of reality to Obama and his aid to the rebels. Kerry is essentially saying it looks like Assad will be there for the foreseeable future so we better start talking to the guy. I.e., in the typical, vague democrat and LSM style, Obama screwed up big time, now we have to unscrew it.

The U.S. Supreme Court denied a stay of execution for Mexican national Edgar Tamayo on Wednesday, allowing Texas to put to death the convicted killer who is also at the center of a diplomatic dispute. Texas has until midnight local time to execute Tamayo at its death chamber in Huntsville. The Mexican government has called on Texas to halt the execution, saying it would be a violation of international law and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has asked Texas Governor Rick Perry to consider a stay. Tamayo, 46, was convicted of shooting dead Houston police officer Guy Gaddis in 1994. Gaddis had

You´d almost think that he´s a fan. The subject of George Zimmerman´s latest painting has been unveiled to showcase the face of the special prosecutor responsible for charging him with second-degree murder. Florida State Attorney Angela Corey appears in a finger-paint-like swirl of red and orange as she tightly pinches her fingers together under the text: "I have this much respect for the American Judicial System." The chosen image of Corey is precisely when she publicly announced her murder charge against the former neighborhood watchman in April 2012. Zimmerman´s brother, Robert Zimmerman Jr., unveiled the painting on his Twitter feed Wednesday evening. "Very

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif insisted Wednesday that the Obama administration mischaracterizes concessions by his side in the six-month nuclear deal with Iran, telling CNN in an exclusive interview that "we did not agree to dismantle anything." Zarif told CNN Chief National Security Correspondent Jim Sciutto that terminology used by the White House to describe the agreement differed from the text agreed to by Iran and the other countries in the talks -- the United States, Britain, France, Russia, China and Germany. Sen. John McCain said President Obama is worse than Jimmy Carter. In an interview with an Arizona radio station, the president’s 2008 opponent argued that Carter’s often-criticized foreign policy “pales in comparison to this president.” It’s hardly a new dig. Former vice president Dick Cheney has also argued Obama is worse than Carter. So has Obama’s 2012 opponent, Mitt Romney, and his running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan; conservative commentator R. Emmett Tyrrell Jr.; conservative pundit Hugh Hewitt; New York Post columnist Michael Goodwin; and real estate mogul Donald Trump, among others. Among Republicans, calling Obama “worse than Carter” is now as cliched as

If there is anything New York doesn´t need it´s more reasons for Empire State residents to flee. Over the last decade (2001-11) New York´s population fell by 1.6 million. In politics, lying is the new sex. Even the lesser sin, exaggeration, is grounds for questions about your suitability to run for office. Americans may be becoming more like the French in tolerating peccadilloes (just ask Rep. Mark Sanford of South Carolina or Sen. David Vitter of Louisiana about surviving a sex scandal), but get a detail wrong about whether you divorced at 21 or at 19, and woe unto you. That’s what happened to Wendy Davis over the weekend. You may know her as the Texas state senator in pink sneakers who delivered an 11-hour filibuster against abortion restrictions in June.

The Pentagon on Wednesday is expected to announce widespread changes to rules governing religious items and religion-based physical attributes that service members can maintain while in uniform — including beards, some religious tattoos, and turbans. NBC News obtained an early draft of the new Department of Defense instruction which states that the military will make every effort to accommodate “individual expressions of sincerely held beliefs” (conscience, moral principles, or religious beliefs) of service members. It goes on to say that unless doing so could have an adverse impact on military readiness, unit cohesion, good order and discipline, health and safety,

What’s so great about Zulu? To answer that question properly, you need to pass this test first. 1) Do you know Men of Harlech off by heart? 2) Can you name at least half of the 11 Victoria Cross winners in the film (by their nicknames where possible) without resorting to Google? 3) Have you ever found yourself stirred to ridiculous feelings of patriotism by John Barry’s magnificent film score on the morning commute? I really hope someone else answers “yes” to all three, otherwise you can chalk me up as a lone madman. Zulu--released 50 years ago this week--is
