| A hostage drama inside a Westchester department store ended Friday morning when 14 people were freed and armed robbery suspects escaped from a Nordstrom Rack, police said. Two suspects entered the store around 11 p.m., and someone inside called police, according to police sources. Los Angeles Police Department SWAT officers arrived and surrounded the store, the sources said. At one point, one of the suspects exited the store, saw police and ran back inside. A second suspect walked out with an unidentified woman, saw police and turned around back to the store, the sources said.

From the headline, sounds like Nordstrom´s had them strung up.
Amazing what goes on in the neighborhood where I work. The store is down the street near the Howard Hughes turnoff to the 405.

Here´s an AP update from the same link, uglier details. 14 people is a lot of people to take hostage. That anyone would be bold enough to do it to rob suggests a very dangerous gang of maggots on the loose:
LOS ANGELES (AP) - Police say some of the 14 workers held hostage overnight during a robbery at a Los Angeles clothing store were assaulted, and one was stabbed.
Police Lt. Andy Neiman says the stabbed worker was treated for a non-life threatening wound.
He says another worker was sexually assaulted and others were manhandled during the four-hour standoff at a Nordstrom Rack store near Los Angeles International Airport.
At least two robbers are being sought.

During a rally held on Tuesday with workers, Venezuela´s acting President Nicolás Maduro announced a rise in the minimum salary of 38-45% that would be implemented in three stages. The first 20% would be implemented in May, from USD 325.55 to USD 390.66. The next increase (10%) would be adopted in September, bringing salaries up to USD 429.73. A final adjustment would be enforced in November by 5-10%, based on inflation. The president in charge also announced the creation of "workers´ groceries," aimed at bringing state-run food network Mercal to state-run companies so that workers can directly buy foodstuffs at their workplace.

ONLY a handful of peace-time politicians can claim to have changed the world. Margaret Thatcher, who died this morning, was one. She transformed not just her own Conservative Party, but the whole of British politics. Her enthusiasm for privatisation launched a global revolution and her willingness to stand up to tyranny helped to bring an end to the Soviet Union. Winston Churchill won a war, but he never created an “ism”. The essence of Thatcherism was to oppose the status quo and bet on freedom—odd, since as a prim control freak, she was in some ways the embodiment of conservatism.
