Gun Control: Cuomo´s
2016 Presidential Play

National Journal, by Michael Catalini

Original Article

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo´s aggressive advocacy for some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation is already heightening speculation that he´s already seriously thinking about a presidential campaign in 2016. In his State of the State address Wednesday afternoon, Cuomo dropped numerous hints that he´s thinking as much about his national prospects as his gubernatorial re-election in 2014. "This is New York, the progressive capital," Cuomo said in his address. "You show them how we lead. We can do it." On gun control, he bellowed: "No one hunts with an assault rifle.

I cannot stand to look at or listen to Cuomo. I felt the same way about his father, although Andrew seems to lack the funereal sanctimony of his dad. Both of them impress me as phonier than Bigfoot.

andrew may be more corrupt that mario but its difficult to know for sure. Recall during cuomo jrs reign as HUD secretary $56 billion vanished. Poof. Without a trace. The records were conveniently so sloppy an audit was impossible. Predictably cuomo paid no political price for the outrage. The corrupt press didn´t lay a glove on him even though people knew that during cuomo´s tenure, HUD was was run like a criminal enterprise. The final insult was that the GOP made a feint protest at best over the loss of $56 billion. As I said the other day regarding cuomo´s demand for sandy relief, I wish some Republican would tell cuomo to pay for it with the 56 billion HUD dollars.

Cuomo was exactly who the Founding Fathers had in mind when they wrote the Second Amendment. They weren´t thinking of ducks, deer, targets, or collections. They were assuring the survival of the nation.

Not as smart as he thinks he is. This could help him win the nomination, but the word "confiscation" will drive tons of voters away from him in the general election.

Don´t know what he was thinking. He could have talked tough without shooting himself in the foot. And in New York, I would love to know the percentage of murders that are minorities killing minorities (mostly blacks killing blacks) with handguns.

New York City´s "stop and frisk" policy has done more to reduce the slaughter of blacks than any gun law. But thanks to the ACLU, that might be on the way out.

While listening to the Cuomo speech yesterday on Rush´s show, my thoughts were brought back to the black and white films of another insane dictator speaking to masses of cheering listeners in the 1930´s.

I´d love to see an overdub of Cuomo´s speech and those old films.

Listen again and see if you agree.

He has a cloying lilt at the end of every sentence. Its like he is constantly on the verge of tears. It really doesn´t fit his Mafia leg breaker look.

AUSTIN - The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals on Wednesday agreed to review whether a lower court correctly decided last fall to toss out the prison sentence handed to former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay on money-laundering charges. The state´s highest court on criminal matters announced that it would accept a petition asking it to consider whether a 2-1 decision by the Third Court of Appeals overturning DeLay´s criminal case conviction was appropriate. The appellate court in September 2013 tossed a high-profile jury verdict, ruling that "the evidence was legally insufficient to sustain DeLay´s convictions." In a dissent, the lone Democrat on

The news reports read like the script of a cheesy movie. A ship sits at anchor one Sunday night off Cyprus. It holds a cargo that just has to be recovered to support a vital U.S. ally. Navy SEALs approach silently over the water, climb the hull, and take over the ship without firing a shot. Then, in the movies — as in real life — the SEALs begin searching for the critical cargo and find what they came for. In the reality of ship seizures by our special forces, there’s always a something to find. That’s because, in somewhat delicate terms,

Foreign-policy watchers on Twitter had some fun with the Associated Press when the newswire tweeted this morning: “BREAKING: Vice President Biden says US will respond to any aggression against NATO allies.” It wasn’t exactly “breaking” news that an attack on NATO would elicit a response from NATO. But I think Biden’s proclamation–“breaking” or not–is in fact worth discussing, for two reasons. First, it should be a given that the U.S. will defend its NATO allies, but in the Obama era of resets and red lines, Washington has sought any excuse possible to avoid confrontation, even if it meant reneging on promises
