| Rush: "Federal regulators for the first time are laying out rules," this is from the AP, "aimed at making sure that people who borrow money for mortgages can afford to repay them." Do you realize what this means? Do you realize what this means? "Federal regulators for the first time..." It´s 2013! For the first time? This is a tantamount admission. Nobody´s calling it this, except I, El Rushbo, except me. I´m telling you: It´s a tantamount admission that the subprime mortgage mess was exactly what it was. It was people who were given loans that could never pay 'em back,

The clintons brought in their corrupt buddies and have wrecked the lives of millions of people and cost the lives of thousands and left 10´s of thousands of people wounded with their ideas/theories and just base criminality..
I know it, you know it. I absolutely hate it when we see republican politicians being nice to these criminals.

This is the same story as in Thomas Sowell´s book ´The Housing Boom and Bust´. Sowell tells it in sober and reasoned way. Rush gins it up and makes it entertaining.
But it´s same story: liberal economic dunces with no notion of economic consequences.
And if you think this is bad, just wait until the student loan bubble pops.

I believe that this is old news. Any informed investor knew long ago that the Government, the investment brokerage firms, the rating agencies, and Federal agencies were all part of this fiasco. When Lehman Bros , on the verge of bankruptcy, tried to separate the "bad" loans into a separate off-balance sheet entry as opposed to the "good" loans that they would keep on the books, the Government said " no way ". End of Lehman Bros. Incidentally the mortgages Mr Limbaugh is speaking of were integrated with car loans, student loans, etc and the whole ball of wax got far more complex, to the point that few knew how to judge what each pool was worth, and then insurance was taken on the pools , and then insurance was taken on the insurance, like Alice Througjh the Looking Glass, and it all ended in a multi-year recession which is still in play. This has all been greatly exacerbated by President Obama, who never took a budget course in his lifetime.

I´d be greatly surprised if these new guidelines applied across the board. Maybe standard banks but I´ll bet the FHA can still make risky loans. The left doesn´t throw in the towel on something like socialized housing out of simplistic common sense like this.
Give me an example of where the left does anything out of common sense and I´ll start listening.

Then how come those inept federal regulators are still allowng the FHA to do the same thing which will cause another bailout in the billions?

Documentary Filmmaker Michael Moore on MSNBC´s Ed show... "Did you realize that over 90% of the guns in this country are owned by white people in the suburbs and in rural areas? Ninety-percent of our guns are not owned by African-Americans, hispanics, minority groups, they´re owned by white people. Now are these white people so afraid of out in the suburbs? Are they thinking little red head, freckle-faced Jimmy down the street is going to, you know, kill them? Mug them? I don´t think so. The Justice Department is taking the first steps toward carrying out President Obama’s executive actions on gun control. Attorney General Eric Holder on Friday released three proposals to strengthen the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS), which was one of the 23 actions ordered by Obama last week to tackle gun violence. The proposed regulations would give local law-enforcement agencies access to the gun-sale database that is maintained by the FBI. The rules would also preserve records of denied weapons sales indefinitely. The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act already requires federal background checks for gun purchases, but not every firearm

It’s a popular talking point with conservatives that the purpose of the Second Amendment is to act as a check on a tyrannical government, our own government. According to liberal radio and TV host Thom Hartman, though, the original purpose of the amendment was to act as a check on rebellious slaves, which might just put a kink in Gun Appreciation Day founder Larry Ward‘s theory about Martin Luther King. On Hartmann’s The Big Picture with Thom Hartmann, Hartmann laid it out. “Gun-crazy America is arming up,” he said. ”While Vice President Biden and his gun task force think of

Faced with increasingly stringent benchmarks—the government´s new Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards require a passenger vehicle fleet that averages 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025—carmakers are taking another approach to achieving better fuel mileage: shaving weight off vehicles by experimenting with lighter materials. Automobiles have long been made from steel—a very strong, but heavy material. Now manufacturers are experimenting with new materials—ranging from aluminum to carbon fiber composites to metal alloys—to help companies reach the ambitious fuel efficiency standards. Author and economist Walter Williams told The Daily Caller that the purpose of the Second Amendment is to protect Americans from their own government — not simply to ensure hunting rights. Williams, a syndicated columnist and the John M. Olin Distinguished Professor of Economics at George Mason University, suggested that common misconceptions about the Second Amendment undermine the gun control debate. “[The Founding Fathers´] stated reason was to allow the American people to protect themselves from the United States Congress — that is, government.

Texas Republican Rep. Steve Stockman threatened Monday afternoon that he would file articles of impeachment against President Barack Obama if he institutes gun control measures with an executive order. Stockman warned that such executive orders would be “unconstitutional” and “infringe on our constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms.” “I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary, including but not limited to eliminating funding for implementation, defunding the White House, and even filing articles of impeachment,” Stockman said in a statement.

My comment is, I don´t think the Obama administration is really interested in protecting people from gun violence. I think their real agenda is to bully conservatives and the NRA. You know, put the screws to the bitter clingers. That certainly seems to fit their template of political revenge. Rush: You know, I think you are on to something. Many of the responses I’ve gotten to my article on the Republican plan to use the debt ceiling as leverage to force Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to pass a budget have been along these lines: If it is against the law for Congress not to pass a budget (and it is), and if Harry Reid is violating that law (and he is), then why can’t something be done about it? Why can’t Reid be charged with something? Or perhaps a lawsuit be brought? The answer is the law requiring Congress to pass an annual budget, the Congressional Budget Act

Washington - President Barack Obama is expected to announce his nominees for secretaries of state and defense in the next two weeks, with former Republican Senator Chuck Hagel on the short list of potential choices to head the Pentagon, senior administration officials said on Tuesday. Hagel, whose appointment would give Obama´s reshuffled second-term Cabinet a bipartisan cast, met the Democratic president at the White House this week to discuss a post on his national security team.

"I don´t understand it," the Arizona Republican said on Sunday of the threat coming from Sen. Rand Paul,Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Mike Lee and nine other Republicans. "The purpose of the United States Senate is to debate and to vote and to let the people know where we stand.” "What are we afraid of? ... Michelle Obama has admitted that she is already tired of the bangs she first sported in January. The First Lady said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: ´Bangs are a day-by-day proposition. They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Los Angeles — Some people have had it with TV. They´ve had enough of the 100-plus channel universe. They don´t like timing their lives around network show schedules. They´re tired of $100-plus monthly bills. A growing number of them have stopped paying for cable and satellite TV service, and don´t even use an antenna to get free signals over the air. (Snip) Last month, the Nielsen Co. started labeling people in this group "Zero TV" households, because they fall outside the traditional definition of a TV home. On Friday, Sean Hannity brought Pat Smith, mother of the late Sean Smith, on his radio program. The 34-year-old information management officer was one of four Americans murdered in the Benghazi embassy attack on September 11, 2012. In the chilling interview, a distraught Ms. Smith, in tears, pleaded for answers and spoke of the efforts to silence her. Ms. Smith first relayed how her son, prior to the attack, requested additional security in advance and warned the State Department: He did tell them, ahead of time, he typed it into his little typewriter over there,

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

But really she’s something much more interesting: a traitor to her class. Her betrayal consists of being gauche enough to acknowledge publicly a truth that everyone who’s come up through Ivy League culture knows intuitively —

Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? It´s the spongy complex of proteins, found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley, that gives elasticity to dough and allows it to rise. When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon. Baking hardens the gluten, which helps the finished product keep its shape. Wheat — and gluten — is ubiquitous in the American diet.

Chelsea Clinton has raised her profile in the last few days, which sparked the inevitable question about the former first daughter´s future: Will she ever be like Mom and Dad and run for office?
