Trying to nudge the
Constitution out of place

Washington Times, by Paul E. Peterson

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 1/10/2013 1:11:31 PM

Will 2013 come to be known as the year of presidential decree? The year the president ignored Congress, changed the rules of government, and put into place whatever policies he saw fit? The year the United States ended what has been called its “obsession” with its Constitution? During his first term, President Obama issued executive orders in lieu of laws passed by Congress, signed executive agreements with foreign countries in lieu of treaties ratified by the Senate, and formulated burdensome regulations with little legislative justification. As the administration begins its second term,

The first thing I thought of was Cass Sunstein when I saw the title. The Weekly Standard had an interesting article on the how the regime will do anything to transform this nation which could apply to this article:

And where are the repubs in all this? If they think Obama is not following the constitution which he swore to uphold why no impeachment proceedings. I don´t have much faith in any party right now.

Matthews: GOP could

MSNBC host Chris Matthews said on Sunday that Democrats could lose ten Senate seats in the midterm elections. “To the Democrats, this election, a rosy scenario is to lose five Senate seats, not six,” he said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “They could lose 10. And so what they´ve said is, ‘If we´re going to lose 10 seats potentially,’ and they could well do that, a big sweep, they´re going to the battle stations.” “Nothing on Social Security. All-out talk about minimum wage. Nothing on trade. … Nothing´s going to get done, because both parties have gone to their base,”

Ukrainian protesters tore through towns all over their nation, ripping down statues of Vladimir Lenin, the communist dictator who had forced the Ukrainians under the Russian yoke after the Bolshevik revolution. The Ukrainians drove their corrupt, pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovich from the capitol of Kiev, while the opposition leader former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko was freed from prison. Amazing images of protesters tearing down the iconic face of socialism V.I. Lenin (also known as Vladimir Ulyanov) erupted into a fury on social media last night. These photos are truly inspiring – at least to those able to recognize the significance of young people

Court: Notre Dame must adhere to
ObamaCare birth control mandate
The Hill [Washington, DC], by Tim Devaney    Original Article

The University of Notre Dame must provide birth control to employees and students after a federal appeals court ruled Friday, a move the school says will force it to violate its religious beliefs. In a blow to religious colleges and universities across the country, the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago denied Notre Dame´s request for an injunction to the ObamaCare birth control mandate that requires the school to provide coverage for contraception. The injunction would have given Notre Dame a temporary reprieve from the birth control mandate, as the Roman Catholic school challenges the rule in court.

FCC grasps for expanded powers

A renewed push at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for net neutrality rules could solidify a major expansion of the agency’s authority over the Internet. Earlier this year, the D.C. Circuit Court of appeals overturned the FCC’s “Open Internet Order,” which kept Internet providers from blocking or slowing access to certain websites, on the grounds that the agency had overstepped its authority. But in a major win for the FCC, the court said the agency could rewrite the rules under Section 706 of the Telecommunications Act, which deals with broadband adoption. Now FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler is seizing on the

According to literary agent Andrew Wylie, President Obama’s post-White House memoir could fetch an advance of up to $20 million . First lady Michelle Obama’s memoir, which she has apparently already started, could bring in an additional $12 million — not a bad nest egg for their golden years. Presidents have long relied on memoirs to secure their financial futures. Calvin Coolidge got a $65,000 advance, back when that was real

A federal judge in Newark has tossed a lawsuit brought by eight Muslims who claimed the NYPD´s post-9/11 surveillance of their mosques, schools, and other community locations violated their civil rights. Instead, U.S. District Judge William Martini ruled that there was no harm done until the Associated Press reported on the program (earning itself a Pulitzer Prize along the way). "The Associated Press covertly obtained the materials and published them without authorization," he wrote. "Thus the injury, if any existed, is not fairly traceable to the city." Judge Martini said the plaintifs were not targeted for their religion. "The more

Defense Department officials acknowledged to Fox News that Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, while speaking to a Jewish congregation at a Maryland synagogue on Tuesday, appeared to have misstated the administration´s policy on Iran -- by saying the country should not be allowed the "capacity" to develop a nuclear weapon. "So that´s the position of this administration; it was the position of the Bush administration -- that´s unequivocal. That´s stated -- it´s clear," Hagel said at the Beth El synagogue in Bethesda, Md. But Hagel was mistaken, and it´s not the first time he has misspoken about the United States´ nuclear

The electricity price index soared to a new high in January 2014 with the largest month-to-month increase in almost four years, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Meanwhile, data from the Energy Information Administration, a division of the U.S. Department of Energy, indicates that electricity production in the United States has declined since 2007, when it hit its all-time peak. The U.S. is producing less electricity than it did seven years ago for a population that has added more than 14 million people. “The electricity index rose 1.8 percent, its largest increase since March 2010,” said BLS in its

Why Did the FCC’s Plan to

“Proposed FCC study of news organizations sparks conservative outcry,” The Washington Post declared on Friday. The story revealed details of the backlash against a Federal Communications Commission plan to investigate the news-gathering and information dissemination practices of a variety of print and broadcast media outlets. The Post quickly amended that headline, as someone decided the study should have sparked a general “outcry,” even though it apparently did not –- at least, not in The Post’s newsroom. Still, some bright fellow at The Post noted that this latest encroachment by the federal government should be met with at least a perfunctory protest

Conservatives have had it up to here (hand to top of forehead) with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.). Having barely recovered from the Cruz-induced shutdown and the calamitous backlash against Republicans, the GOP had to endure another episode of Cruzian grandstanding and the post-grandstanding trash talk. Mona Charen of National Review (stocked with many Cruz admirers) writes that it is “particularly galling to see that rather than train his fire at Obama and the liberal machine that cocoons him, Cruz has become a one-man wrecking ball against Republicans.” At issue was his stunt on the debt limit in which he denied the

Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome "said the committee talked about other slurs coming under any possible new rule, including homophobic slurs." President Obama’s stimulus may have boosted the economy when it passed in 2009, but it’s now beginning to take a toll and will soon begin to leave the economy worse off than if it had never passed, according to a new report Friday by the Congressional Budget Office. Mr. Obama signed the stimulus into law five years ago this week, vowing it would help rescue the economy from its post-Wall Street collapse tailspin, and saying it would save millions of jobs. The CBO said it’s been successful at that, helping sustain between 700,000 and 3.6 million jobs at its peak

The real mystery behind the FCC´s now abandoned "study" to police American newsrooms is why the mainstream media refused to raise holy hell over it. While Obama´s lapdogs refused to bark, it was conservative media who fought for newsroom independence and got the FCC to finally back down. Other than the media´s natural obedience to Obama, the fact that the fingerprints of left-wing billionaire George Soros have been found on the FCC study might also help to explain the media´s silence. CNS News reports that for the first ten years of the last decade, Soros donated more than $52 million
