| These days, there are few things to admire about the socialist, bankrupt and culturally degenerating USA, but at least so far, one thing remains: the right to bear arms and use deadly force to defend one's self and possessions. This will probably come as a total shock to most of my Western readers, but at one point, Russia was one of the most heavily armed societies on earth. This was, of course, when we were free under the Tsar. Weapons, from swords and spears to pistols, rifles and shotguns were everywhere, common items.

Charlton Heston´s iconic phrase may come to pass."Over my cold dead body".
Probably the main thing stopping a civil war in this country is conservative´s love for their kids and grandkids.
Obama has managed to avoid a tipping point issue so far but he´s telegraphing what he wants to do.

FTA Do not be fooled by a belief that progressives, leftists hate guns. Oh, no, they do not. What they hate is guns in the hands of those who are not marching in lock step of their ideology. They hate guns in the hands of those who think for themselves and do not obey without question. They hate guns in those whom they have slated for a barrel to the back of the ear.

One of the comments after the article is worth repeating. The excuse that the founders didn´t envision modern weapons and therefore they should be restricted is as ludicrous as saying the founders didn´t envision loudspeakers and word processors so therefore we are limited to cupped hands and quill pens.

The Russian proves his point ! Imagine thousands of Americans sent overseas to fight and and risk death, for an outwardly purposeless war, without ever winning. The lucky ones that return alive are then told, after fighting for their country, that now they are not worthy of owning their own guns. Imagine this vast group of retired service heroes, add in police, sheriffs, and throw in millions of responsible, licensed hunters, adding champion marksmen and women. Imagine all these wonderful leadership people being ordered by the likes of Feinstein, Schumer, Bloomberg, Piers Morgan, Harry Reid, George Clooney communists, that this vast array of accomplished responsible Americans can no longer own their own personal, private weapons. It´s Obama driven, Hitlerian, Stalinist, Fidel Castro, Putin, Xi Jinding madness, that´s what it is, total dictator insanity to even think of disarming all those exceptional people above. And don´t ever forget the additional licensed and untold millions more of private citizens, homeowners, who keep this country safe without any grand display. (In fact, their constant, crime preventing, heroism is never allowed on the Diane Sawyer TV State controlled media.) TV Terrorists just waiting for the next tragedy to take the opportunity to bring total tyranny to America. We know that the citizen disarmed places like Washington DC and New York City are the most dangerous, and the licensed to carry cities and states are the safest places to live. No argument! Our leaders with armed body guards, our filmmakers making violent movies, but preaching dis-arming to that same ticket buying movie goer, are giant, arrogant hypocrites, ideological thieves. They’re all self contradicting, crazy as loons. The main cause for instant TV anti gun insanity (non stop promotion) today, is the nazi-like TV media brainwashers.

We need to feed them the same medicine they are trying to feed us.
We need to make their neighbors aware they have Anti-American traitors in their neighborhoods.
It´s time for Patriotic Americans to stop being quiet and polite. Give them better than what they are giving us.

Think about WACO. Think about our own government using military tank against American citizens, against the posse comitatus act.
The soviets used tanks against the Hungarian citizens to put down their uprising.
The Chinese rolled the tanks into Tiananaman Square.
Anyone doubt that O would use those same tactics against us?

Tanks rolling up against a lone outpost is one thing, tanks rolling down city streets looking for good guys is another, and as the Hungarians proved in 1956, a bottle filled with gas does work. The difference is that if this thing blows up, and I think it will, what side will the military be on? I´m not all that sure that it will be the side of Zip the wonder Communist. If not, it will be a very short fight.

The 2nd amendment is not about granting hunters the right to use guns for hunting deer and the like.
So, what´s this all about? I think the assault on the God given rights of free men and women will continue. Will we force our representatives to honor our American constitution?
In addition, can we switch the focus from attacks on our constitutionally protected, God given rights, to cutting federal government spending?

Re: #1 and #2 - The two posts, one about conservative´s love for their children preventing escalation to internal war and the other about the clear, historic aims of progressive totalitarian government point out clearly the line-in-the-sand choices that must be made by individuals.
Do you love your children and grandchildren more than the Founders loved theirs? They had to make choices with implications far more real than a figurative letter to the editor. Do you love your conveniences more than you love the hard-won liberties that are increasingly imperiled? Does consigning your offspring to be in the vanguard of transformation from free citizens to timid subjects sound like a reasonable price to pay in the name of conflict avoidance?
I hope those individuals who ultimately choose liberty and are willing to risk all (1) constitute at least 20% of our population and (2) have the ability to organize for collective action outside of a traditional political party.

I do not need to give any reason why I have a gun, the Constitution guarantees I can have one and that my right can not be infringed upon in anyway. I do believe that mentally incompetent people should not be permitted to have weapons but since most of them are elected officials all we need to do is keep them out of their hand to be safe.

It is outrageous how the politicians and press have been allowed to mislead everyone about the real isue. The real issue is mental health ...not the possession of firearms. What happened in Conn. can be traced to the states VERY weak laws regarding the involuntary incarceration of people in need of pschchiatric evaluation and medication. The shooter in that case had been on a downward spiral for quite sometime and if he had been given the treatment he needed perhaps he would have been ok. Tougher rules about gun ownership will not stop a psychotic person from employing other means to kill. A molotov cocktail thrown into a crowded shopping mall, or the family car driven into a group of school children, or bricks thrown from an overpass through the windshields of cars speeding by in heavy traffic will achieve the same results. The focus really ought to be on helping the desperately sick people in need od treatment /medication. Thanks to the ACLU and the Carter administration that wil not happen any time soon.

This is another example of cart before the horse. Most Americans get guns to protect themselves from criminals. The government has become extremely lax about punishing violent criminals all in the name of "fair" treatment. If the government wants to discourage gun ownership then lock up the violent criminals for a long long time. Crime will decrease. Our safety will increase. Our desire and need for self protection will decrease.
Example: use a gun for a street mugging, 20 years if you don´t pull the trigger, 60 years if you do. An example of such an incident experienced by a friend, resulted in probation for the perps that weren´t the trigger man. Six months for the perp that pulled the trigger and shot his cooperating victim giving him a permanent disabling injury. If he had killed the victim he would have only gotten on average 7 years.

As many of you know, I lived behind the Iron Curtain for 3 years ( Romania under the Ceaucescus ) and saw first hand what happens to a society when they are disarmed and leftists take over.
At the time I said to my husband that I would gladly take up arms to defend the US against that kind of tyranny. At the time, the height of the Cold War, I lthought that would mean fighting against a foreign and hostile country. I never even considerd that it might mean fighting other Americans.
If needed I will still do it and I´ll do it for my daughter and her future children.

They don´t understand the need for guns because a lot of them are happy with the status quo. Like Piers Morgan, they are the beneficiaries of the current societal order.
Also, many of them have lived their whole lives and never been truly physically threatened by someone and don´t understand that in that situation, the only thing that brings hard core equality and ability to respond QUICKLY is a gun. So to them, guns are the danger and not the protection.
A hammer or a knife are still reliant upon physical size and strength.

The tipping point will result in either recalls and impeachments or a hot lead incident. Tyrants are fully warmed up and ready to move. Patriots are refining their target list, and traitors are on it. The organ grinder plays and the monkeys dance around. Their idea of lead, may turn into our idea of lead. It is too bad that we have come to this, but here it is, and there is nothing we can do about it. But resist. Don´t be a victim by supporting this tyranny.

Why are Obama´s knickers in a pinch when he promised on 3 different major addresses that JOBS would be his number one effort. What has happened to that promise?

Two examples 1. Switzerland remained neutral for around 400 hundred years because every male over the age of 14 had to be armed and ready for the call to act. In fact that message could have inspired the 2nd amendment. Those people had mountains and valley that protected them in a fight against Hitlers troops and kept those troops confined to the cities. 2.The Soviet reign came to a halt 21 years ago because the military whose members ere raised to obey the masters refused to turn those tanks on the people.Putin didn´t learn that too well but he may just go too far and pay the price. American military trained have not been raised in a 3 generation progressive culture. And NOTE Obe is wiggling back putting Biden in the gun sites because only 44% of the critters will vote against the Constitution --probably because they are smart enough to know where the line is drawn.

Chuck Heston´s quote was... "from my cold dead hands."
Rush usually describes the American Revolutionary period as divided thusly... approx one third Loyalists or Tories... approx one third Patriots or Amer. Rebels... approx one third Neutral
The number of Amer. Patriots who took up arms & fought in the war was indeed far smaller a percentage of the populace.
We may have a domestic war on our hands against our domestic terrorist president.
Can you spell secession? The Divided States of America. Four Corners for the Welfarists and Liberoids. Heartland America for the Rest of US.
This will be far better than living under the current tyranny.

#48 may be right, quite sadly. The judicial branch of the government is uncharacteristically silent on the many Obama infringements on the constitution. Maybe they are hoping the Legislative Branch will work it all out somehow and the Judicial Branch can escape a major controversy.
I still contend that the Supremes know full well that Obama is probably not eligible to be POTUS. If his real father is BHO,Sr., Obama is not a "natural born" citizen. My only thought is that Obama has told them who his real father is (Frank Marshall Davis more than likely), and if so, then Obama would be a "natural born" citizen, and we are stuck with him from an eligibility standpoint.
However that doesn´t absolve the Supremes from ruling on the unconstitutional and seemingly treasonous actions Obama has taken during the last four years. My question is: Who is going to stop him now? He has been allowed to trample on the Constitution in sneaky ways for four years. But I would think his attempting to override the 2nd Amendment or any other Amendment should be unthinkable, and cause for judicial action.

Those who want to take our guns must think this is a civilized world! Yet when we see in the Muslim world fathers murdering daughters for perceived insults or as in as Iraq, Alqida kidnapping a child of a family killing, cooking and trying to served at a banquet to that family you can see how some of us might see thing differently! This is not a civilized world! Not even close! For as long as that is true, don´t even think about taking our Guns!

I am a gun owner. I know the land of Lexington Green, and the shot heard round the world. I know the land where Sons of Liberty stood in defiance of tyranny. I know free men cherish liberty and justice, above all. I know the meaning of Duty, Honor, and Country. The guns of good men made the difference. I am a gun owner. I know evil must be defeated without exception. I know innocence must be protected at all costs. I know I stand ready to ensure these outcomes. The guns of good men make the difference. I am a gun owner. I know that there are many who don’t understand and who may never. I know there are legions that do understand, and will forever. I know what I know, why I know it. The guns of good men are the difference. I am a gun owner, a good man, and proud to be.

The deputy of slain U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens has told congressional investigators that a team of Special Forces prepared to fly from Tripoli to Benghazi during the Sept. 11, 2012 attacks was forbidden from doing so by U.S. Special Operations Command South Africa. The account from Gregory Hicks is in stark contrast to assertions from the Obama administration, which insisted that nobody was ever told to stand down and that all available resources were utilized.

When it first became clear that the CIA’s Benghazi talking points had been altered, many of us viewed the White House as the prime suspect. After all, it served President Obama’s political purposes to claim, at the height of a political campaign in which he was taking credit for the fall of al Qaeda, that the death of a U.S. ambassador was down to spontaneous outrage over a video, rather than pre-planned terrorism. It turns out, however, that the State Department was the prime culprit. It was State that pushed back hard against the original talking points.

Republican lawmakers, who have spent months seeking to tie President Obama to last year’s deadly attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, are increasingly focusing their probe on a new target: former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton. The GOP-led investigation of the Sept. 11, 2012, assaults that killed U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three others now centers heavily on the State Department and whether officials there deliberately misled the public about the nature of the assault. Three State Department officials are scheduled to testify before a House committee on Wednesday about the Benghazi attack and its aftermath.

If ponies rode men and grass ate cows, And cats were chased into holes by the mouse … If summer were spring and the other way round, Then all the world would be upside down. Once in a long while, an event evokes one of my favorite historical images: the British Army band, at Lord Cornwallis’ surrender at Yorktown which sealed the Americans’ revolutionary victory, playing “The World Turned Upside Down.” In this case, the event is the dramatic change over the past two weeks

The Seattle Police Department collected more than 700 guns during a buyback in January, and now city officials have a plan for what to do with them. Mayor Mike McGinn is expected to announce Tuesday that they´ll be melted into bricks carrying messages of peace, and the bricks will be placed around the city. The buyback program was announced a month after last December´s elementary school massacre in Newtown, Conn., by city leaders sick of hearing about gun violence. Private sponsors including Amazon.com contributed tens of thousands of dollars

It´s no fluke, but maybe the end of an error in American media: The Rush Limbaugh Program is considering ending its affiliation agreement with Cumulus Media at the end of this year, a move that would bring about one of the biggest shakeups in talk radio history, a source close to the show tells Politico. (Snip) According to the source, Limbaugh is considering the move because Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey has blamed the company´s advertising losses on Limbaugh´s controversial remarks about Sandra Fluke,

Former Gov. Mark Sanford completed the trail to political redemption Tuesday with a win over Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch to reclaim his old seat in Congress. Sanford defeated Colbert Busch 54 percent to 45 percent, according to full unofficial results. Turnout was heavier than expected, with about 32 percent of the district’s 455,702 registered voters casting ballots. Sanford, who has never lost an election, returns to the 1st District seat he held for three terms from 1995-2001. It’s a remarkable comeback for a man many pundits had written off after his highly publicized affair with an Argentine

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee took to the House floor Monday night and implied that the right to health care and education exists in the Constitution. Ms. Jackson Lee, Texas Democrat, also made the case that the moral authority for such services is also derived from the Declaration of Independence. “One might argue that education and health care fall into those provisions of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness,” she said. Ms. Jackson Lee added, “I think that what should be continuously emphasized is the president’s leadership on one single point: that although health care was not

Mark Sanford has won the South Carolina special election in a competitive race for what in normal circumstances is a safe Republican seat. The former governor beat Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch, the sister of comedian Stephen Colbert Busch, for the state’s 1st congressional district. The AP called the race for Sanford early in the evening, with the Republican leading Colbert Busch 54 percent 46 percent.

From the start, the Obama administration’s account of what happened in Benghazi, Libya, on Sept. 11 last year didn’t quite square for Sharyl Attkisson. So the veteran CBS News reporter dug in, and kept digging. The result: Attkisson has been a persistent voice of news-media skepticism about the government’s story. On the air and online, Attkisson has questioned the administration’s timeline and its response. (Snip) While other media, particularly Fox News, have been similarly skeptical about the official narrative about Benghazi, Attkisson and CBS might put the story in a different light. As a much-decorated reporter from a news
