| The greatest mind-trick in the left´s entire arsenal is politicizing emotion. Once one accomplishes that, there is no limit on a government´s mandate to take action, since there are no rational limits on emotion. (snip) Now consider the case of gun control laws, which have no factual evidence to back up their effectiveness, given real-world constraints. Guns cannot be un-invented -- only taken away and put into some people´s hands, but not others. But since guns make leftists feel yucky, it´s best to have the government make them disappear.

Excellently written and true. The left is all about manipulation and emotional blackmail, echoed constantly on television (The View, morning shows, left-themed dramas) and in other media. If the Left had been running Mitt´s campaign, they would have put Ann Romney in a wheelchair to speak to the nation, instead of that jazzy red dress. Dishonest, but that´s how it is done when you need to counter the Dem-imposed image of Romney as an out of touch gazillionaire who doesn´t feel our pain.

Rush Limbaugh was saying much the same thing 20 years ago. Feelings trump facts in the propaganda of the US Left.
It was a wise observation. And true.
There is no limit to opinions, emotions, wants, and feelings. They are open ended just as science fiction tales are limited only by what the writer´s imagination.
Using that argument there is no limit to what the State can force upon an individual or everyone.
Seldom heard Rush, my work and life didn´t permit listening to radio very often.

During the highly publicized exchange between Bill O´Reilly and Laura Ingraham on gay marriage, O´Reilly made this statement: "There are Bible thumpers, and all they do is say, ´I object to gay marriage because God objects to it.´ You don´t win a policy debate in America with that." Really? Before central control out of Washington was imposed in 2003, policy arguments for criminalizing homosexual acts were won explicitly "with that." It´s one thing for President Obama to be cocky and overstate his prowess at governing. People are used to politicians grabbing credit, and besides, you can always rationalize when it comes to explaining why things didn´t quite work out as you claimed they would - "the sequester ate my recovery" being the latest successful-enough example. But sports is something else. The basketball either goes through the hoop or it doesn´t. That´s why President Obama´s history of braggadocio regarding his prowess at hoops is having a potent effect on his overall public image, especially with those who are favorably inclined to him.

During his two day flurry of fundraising in Northern California, the President of the United States took it upon himself (and allow to be released to the public - not all of his fundraising comments make it to the masses) to praise the attractiveness of Kamala Harris, California Attorney General (snip) The remark, predictably, generated a little of what Allahpundit called a ´Blue on blue food fight." I suspect that was the intention. The president´s image as a manly man took a beating when he missed 20 of 22 basketball shots, all recorded on video.

The CEO of Starbucks basically told a shareholder that if the shareholder believes in traditional marriage he should dump his Starbucks stock. Historically the job of the CEO has been to make money and increase shareholder value. It would seem telling people who don´t share the CEO´s personal beliefs, whether it´s gay marriage or abortion, to dump the companies stock is not a pro-shareholder action. This is another example of the liberal belief that everything belongs to liberals because they´re just so darn much smarter than the rest of us

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church.
