Plan to save Detroit:
Invest in busier areas, turn
emptying neighborhoods to

Detroit Free Press, by John Gallagher

A sometimes controversial exploration of how to save Detroit culminated today with the release of the massive Detroit Future City plan that suggests future investment in population centers, such as the West McNichols hospital corridor and Midtown, and allowing other areas to be used for other purposes — some of them neighborhoods where Detroiters have lived for generations but that have slowly lost population and vigor over time. Some of those areas might include Brightmoor, some blocks west of City Airport and parts of the lower east side. Among the most innovative ideas in the

Comments:
Effects of deindustrialization and the welfare state laid bare for all to ignore. Solution, Agenda 21-style? Return as much possible "to nature," cluster everyone together in high-density housing. Net effect: total disaster as every remaining taxpayer flees, refusing to live in maximum proximity with criminals.

I think they should put a 30´ fence around it, let a few lions loose, and then charge admission for armored cars to tour the place. Call it "African Safari".

I´ve got a great idea. Restructure downtown Detroit into a QUAINT Mall with QUAINT shops and boutiques and bookstores and COFFEE SHOPS. You know like Europe does. Might work.

Just selling the NWO file cabinet living that is being built in L.A. & N.Y. right now... Allocating 300 sf units per couple.
No need for accumulating stuff as you have no storage; No need for car, as you´ll be clustered in the new middle class hi rise file cabinet public housing.

The Progressive´s Utopia is right.

5 and 12, burning already had a hand in the destruction of Detroit. Remember all those years when the hoodlums celebrated "Devil´s Night" (Halloween) by burning down buildings?

The problem was not entirely the loss of jobs. It was the failure of policing as well. Detroit became a city you wanted to move out of not into. It was governed by blacks for years. Face it, because it is the truth. They did not govern for the people´s good.

Ignoring the practical reasons why you can´t easily convert a city block into a farm, who is going to work this farm? Certainly not the people who live in Detroit. Who is going to guard the produce so it doesn´t get stolen or destroyed by the thugs that live there?

An alarming photograph taken in the lobby of One World Trade Center shows a half-blind security guard sleeping on the job. Instead of acting as the first line of defense for the world´s number one terror target, Abdul Basher, 65, is laid out almost horizontal in a chair. Why did the FBI take so long

As the corruption investigation of former Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon went back underground Thursday, a nagging question hung over his embarrassed city: Couldn’t this have been known before he was elected mayor in November? According to an affidavit released this week, the FBI became aware of possible illegal activity of then-City Council member Cannon as early as August 2010. By the time Cannon was sworn as the city’s top elected leader, undercover agents posing as real estate developers had flown him and his wife to Las Vegas and paid him almost $30,000 in bribes, prosecutors say. As the sea of luggage twists and turns down rollers from terminals at Los Angeles International Airport, the bags stop briefly at large platforms where workers separate them for flights across the world. For months, detectives said, workers rifled through bags looking for items to steal. “Basically everything of value -- be it electronics, jewelry and items -- that could be stolen in seconds would be removed from bags,” LAX Police Chief Pat Gannon said. “They’d just open

Britain has become a net importer of petroleum products such as diesel for the first time since 1984 amid the closure of refineries and a sharp drop in crude production from the North Sea, the latest Government figures show. "The closure of the Coryton refinery in July 2012 was a contributory factor towards lower production in 2013. Refinery production was also weakened by increasing competition from imports," said the Department of Energy & Climate Change (DECC) on Thursday.
