Sarah Palin’s Brother: From Alaska,
He Can See a Third, `American Party’

Bloomberg News, by Don Frederick

Original Article

Posted By:MissMolly, 1/8/2013 1:17:12 PM

There’s a new voice in the Palin family making the call for political upheaval, with Sarah’s brother — Chuck Heath Jr. — calling for “the disgruntled citizens of the United States… Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians… persons of every race, religion, economic status, and whoever else is interested, join together and form a new party.” He adds, in a posting on his Facebook page: “I’d simply call it, the American Party. ” Heath — who on a personal website identifies himself as “father, teacher, author” and “Alaskan gold miner” — may want to work on that name.

Comments:
Unfortunately, George Wallace also claimed The American Party. Maybe another tag would be better.

Idiotic, #3??? Conservatives pin their hopes on the GOP "leadership" over and again - like Charlie Brown and Lucy´s football - and consistently get shunted aside once they have been properly "used" by the elites. Remember that the GOP was itself a "third party".

Of course, you´ll be quick to point out the Perot effort and the Reform Party. That failed because it started from "zero", with no elected politicians jumping over to give it some gravitas; it was a "top down" operation with all decisions made in Dallas; and its POTUS candidate "flaked out" at the last minute (because someone got to him?).

A better model is the NY Conservative party, which acts as a ballast on the state Republican Party. It often endorses GOP candidates who adhere to conservative principles, keeping the party honest.

It´s futile to start from "zero", and unnecessary. Time for conservatives in Congress and in state offices to switch. A new party needs to reflect the Tea Party model, and engage citizens in the process from the local level up. It can act as a pressure point in the short-term, endorsing conservative candidates in other parties, until it achieves critical mass.

We need to remember what Einstein said about "insanity". Time to try something different. There is a political void to be filled.

As the Republican Party has made it clear that they have a problem with the conservative point of view, a third party is not a stupid idea. They can not win without us, and if I have no voice with them, then my vote will go elsewhere.

In NY State, a political party´s name cannot contain the word American or America.
George Wallace found that out in 1968.

But a third party would guarantee the continued dominance of the far left democrats. Not a good idea right now.
Better to find and support conservative republican candidates, who know how to campaign. And know when to shut up.

Way overdue but of course the Republicrat goobers will be apoplectic. Last election we had a real unemployment rate > 16%; not experienced since the Depression and doofus Romney, the choice of the R establishment, managed to lose decisively. But the party of Hoover, Landon, Wilkie, Dewey, Stassen, Dole, the Bush buffoons, Mcain, ect; insists ´we don´t need no stinkin change´.
The hapless GOP is way, way past its expiry date.

AIM -- Americans In Motion
The name is less important than the action. Frankly who would have thought Hope and Change, followed by Forward, would have made it.

The Tea Party is a fairly well organized group. I would like to see it testing the waters by talking to conservatives, which may include politicians. Certain rules need to be created, for example, term limits, identical health and pension plans as the people, no lobbyists.

And waiting until 24 months before the next presidential election will get us nowhere. Action needs to start immediately after Obama is sworn in, as in the following day. Gives serious thinkers just a couple of weeks.

FOR FIVE YEARS, President Obama has led a foreign policy based more on how he thinks the world should operate than on reality. It was a world in which “the tide of war is receding” and the United States could, without much risk, radically reduce the size of its armed forces. Other leaders, in this vision, would behave rationally and in the interest of their people and the world. Invasions, brute force, great-power games and shifting alliances — these were things of the past. Secretary of State John F. Kerry displayed this mindset on ABC’s “This Week” Sunday when he
