AIG Is Thinking About Suing
the Government for Bailing It Out

Atlantic Wire, by Adam Clark Estes

Original Article

It´s been almost five years since AIG´s stock dropped 60 percent in a day leaving the company doomed to failure, when Uncle Sam swooped in with $182 billion to rescue it. But AIG must have a short memory, because on Monday night news emerged that the insurance company is actually thinking about suing the U.S. government over the bailout that saved it. The board will discuss the idea with shareholders at a meeting on Wednesday. RELATED: The U.S. Made $22 Billion Bailing Out AIG It´s not so much that AIG´s mad the government bailed them out.

AIG was bailed out to save Goldman Sachs, not AIG.

I thought the timeline was the NY Attorney Elliot "Client 9" Spitzer was trolling for votes when he casually bullied the AIG founder from is office (Greenberg) from his office. No charges were ever filed. Then when the derivatives crash happened the guy at AIG who put the portfolio together was no longer there.

Thanks "Client 9" Spitzer.
How´s your latest career doing?

$182 million could have made a dent in the national dept or helped the taxpayers footing the bill for all of it.

Fox News reporter Jana Winter faces jail for doing her job too well. She´s not been accused of any crime, only of protecting the identity of confidential news sources while reporting an important development in a major national story. A Colorado court has now compounded a pending murder trial with a second legal case, one with profound First Amendment ramifications. The story started on July 20, 2012, when James Holmes walked into a midnight showing of the Batman film “The Dark Knight Rises” in an Aurora, Colo.

CROWN POINT | The Lake County sheriff is defending his decision last month to dismiss a physically disabled employee and hire an ex-convict. Sheriff John Buncich said James F. Piunti´s inability to hear or speak meant he couldn´t perform adequately in the department´s Bureau of Identification, where employees must constantly speak with the members of the pubic requesting police reports, criminal background checks and gun-permit applications. "We made every accommodation we possibly could to help him fit in, but things just didn´t work out," Buncich said.

A polluting-the-culture President Barack Hussein Obama, who has trademarked the American presidency as one dominated by golfing and holidaying, continues down the destructive path of gutting the American military. While the mainstream media will show the simpering Obamas during an ‘Easter Egg’ roll featuring lessons in a White House ‘Yoga Garden’ this year, Obama has laid a deceit-laden egg on the military in time for Easter: “Pentagon says survivors of the Fort Hood attack should not be eligible for the Purple Heart, arguing it would adversely affect the trial of Maj. One of a handful of Colorado sheriffs who oppose several gun control bills working their way through the state legislature claims lawmakers are threatening the salaries of sheriffs to punish them for their position. The clash comes as pro-gun control elected leaders seek tighter restrictions on firearms in the wake of the Aurora movie massacre last summer and the Dec. 14 school shooting in Newtown, Conn. El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa, while saying he would be obliged to enforce new law, publicly said he would willfully

While the Transportation Department warns that the sequester will lead to cutbacks causing snarled lines at airports across America, the agency is still considering a massive $5.5 billion government gamble on a high-speed train from suburban California to Vegas. The total cost of the XpressWest project is $6.9 billion, with 80 percent potentially being fronted by the federal government. It would create a train that runs from Victorville, Calif., to Las Vegas and, if green-lighted, would be the largest loan of its type issued in America.

A federal prosecutor came in for some biting criticism today from Supreme Court Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Stephen Breyer for a racially charged remark made during a criminal trial. The comment by the justices came as the court declined to hear the appeal of a man who was convicted in a Texas federal court of being in on a drug conspiracy. The issue for the defendant, Bongani Charles Calhoun, was whether he knew that the people he accompanied on a road trip were about to buy illegal drugs, or whether he was merely along for the ride.

CEDAR LAKE | Blind and living on little more than her Social Security check, Dolores Pittman soon may be homeless. Lake County officials have mistakenly traded away the plot of land on which she had been living for 54 years in a tax delinquency sale. "I got an eviction notice Thursday. I don´t know what I´m going to do. Besides being scared that I don´t have a place to live, no one wants to take my cats. Being without my cats ... that would probably just kill me," she said.

Discussing gun control, CNN´s Wolf Blitzer on Friday told a Utah sheriff that if Barack Obama issues an executive order, that order is the law and the sheriff must obey. However, jurisprudence on this topic reveals exactly the opposite. As the head of the executive branch of the federal government, a president can issue executive orders only to employees of the federal government—and only regarding implementing federal laws or programs. A governor can likewise issue executive orders to employees of his state government regarding the laws or programs of that state.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Beginning a week of high pressure on gun control, the White House on Monday accused some Republican senators of cowardice for planning to filibuster gun legislation without allowing the full Senate to vote on President Obama’s initiatives. “If they oppose this legislation, have the courage to say so on the floor and vote no,” said White House press secretary Jay Carney. “Don’t block it. Don’t hide behind a procedural action to prevent a vote. That’s the wrong thing to do, and that’s how the president clearly feels.”

There was growing buzz over the weekend that a bipartisan agreement on gun control — a deal that would expand background checks — could hit the floor as early as this week. However, any deal could be derailed by the looming threat of a Republican filibuster involving Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. With Cruz standing proudly in the way of any gun legislation, Democrats are trying to make him pay a political price — and even a couple of high-profile Republicans are questioning his tactics.
