Alabama has won its third Bowl Championship Series title in four years, overwhelming top-ranked Notre Dame, 42-14, at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla. I don´t follow college football very close at all but it kinds struck me funny that ND was in the championship game.To me,this would have been a better game if it was Texas A&M.

During the season, ND won numerous squeakers over mediocre teams. This outcome was not unexpected.

The curse of Obama strikes again. My father (91) is an alumni of Notre Dame and proud to be a Domer. But you should have heard him when the school honored The Won.

That´s what you get for honoring evil, ND.

The BCS is a total joke and it´s the sole reason I no longer watch college football like I used to. A cursory glance at the facts suggests that there are about 4 other teams in the country worthy of playing Alabama in a championship game. The facts that Notre Dame played instead, and was ranked #1 while being the underdog speaks volumes about how dopey this system is.

Thanks again for putting another crummy team in the Championship game. This makes the fourth BCS bowl ND has been in and its the fourth blow out. Kent State and Arkansas State in the Godady bowl was a better match up. The NCAA should come up with a championship playoff system. They do it for the other football division.

Brent Lustberger needs to hang it up. Ditto for ABC/ESPN The only time I watch either network is when they have a football game on. ESPN is just a trashy Connecticut outfit. Roll Tide and Saban for President.

Notre Dame did better than I expected. At least they didn´t get completely shut out.

Alabama proved once again that they are a heckuva good football team.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are now the only remaining unbeaten football team. I suspect OSU v. ´Bama might have made for a better game...

ND´s final AP ranking is 4th.. if a 4 team playoff was in place this year, there´s no way you could justify letting them in.

A thing of beauty....The obama lovers, and this media creation - implode. I could almost see Musberger sweating and shaking when this liberal institution was getting kicked around. ANY little thing the Lilliputians did was expanded tenfold. The leprechaun fumbles the punt, some manges to knock it out of bounds and you´d think the game was turned around. All night the liberals from ESPN couldn´t figure out why ND was missing tackles....could it be ´Bama was just bigger, faster, and stronger.? Maybe they should have called BO and had an executive order issued to stop this butt kicking

Roll tide....a rammer jammer is in order...

Some things are clear: 1)ND, ranked #1 is not and never was the #1 team in the nation. They are not the #2 team in the nation. They are not even the #4 team in the nation, their final ranking. 2)From the first play of the game, it was clear that ND cannot make open field tackles. Manti T´eo, ND´s vaunted defensive Heisman trophy candidate, supposedly a lethal tackler, didn´t show. I didn´t hear his name called all night. No team that can´t tackle should even suit up against a team like Alabama. 3)The media as corrupt in sports as it is in politics, overhyped ND all season long, ignoring the weakness of their schedule. As in politics, the loser when the sports media is crooked, the loser is John Q Public.

A hearty "Roll Tide!" shoutout in memory of my F-I-L Pat Morgan who surely watched from his heaven-side seat last night. He kept going to Houston alum gatherings to watch his beloved Bama games well into his 80´s.

But if he were here I´d still have to remind him that before this game last night, the sum total of season losses for both powerhouse teams was exactly:

one.

And that loss was to . . . . the Sugar Bowl winning newbie to the SEC with the newbie head coach and freshman Heisman Trophy winner.

Whoop! And, um, Gig ´Em!!

Somehow I think the Ohio State fans need to back away from the pipe....Look at who they played, by team, and show me a real team they beat, and their associated bowl performance.....Maybe Michigan State who is ~ 7 - 6? When all is said and done, it´s still the slew footed big whatever it is. On the other hand we have the SEC. Next year we´re looking at ´Bama, of course, LSU, South Carolina, Georgia, a team that, according to Nick, was.. "5 yards away from playing in this game"...And now add Texas A & M to the equation...Fl?...W/A the SEC beats the hell out of each other all season and ends up playing pretenders like ND, etc. at the end

Notre Dame ALWAYS gets the benefit of the doubt. But after last night, there was no doubt they did not belong on that field.

Ohio State would have played closer. They probably would have lost by 20. But, being on probation kept them from being embarrassed.

The media has been pimping for ND all year, every game, promoting Te´o like he was the only person that had to ´overcome" the tragedy of losing his grandmother. My son went to Holy Cross College at ND (good school by the way) and we attended many games there. They have a sense of entitlement to win every game - nobody is better than them. The NCAA should cut out the "independent" status of this team and mandate they join a conference like everybody else. They didn´t play a team of SEC caliber all year. Like my son said before the game. They are not going to even know what happened to them. Congratulations Bama, you are the best (and I live in Georgia LOL).

Before the SEC title game, I saw a comic that showed a giant elephant and a giant bulldog gazing down upon a tiny leprechaun and saying "One of us will be with you shortly." That comic proved to be quite prophetic. The elephant stomped all over the little leprechaun last night. This is why I´m glad we are finally getting a playoff system next year, so that poseurs won´t get into the championship game by playing a light schedule that ensures them an inflated ranking. Teams will now have to earn their way into the final.

Saban turned those college players into a classy, well-trained, charging football machine. They were relentless.

As with NBA players who cannot do free throws (so easy even a woman can do them), the ND team apparently missed the tackle training.

Ohio State may have fared better on Offense, but theyir defense would have tackled as poorly as ND. ND played a good schedule, but were overmatched by ND. People kill me by acting like the players care about Catholics vs whatever religion. It is not a referendum on religion or politics. It is a referendum on how great a coach/recruiter Nick Saban is.

READING in bed, once considered a relatively safe pastime, is now seen by some as a riskier proposition. That’s because bedbugs have discovered a new way to hitchhike in and out of beds: library books. It turns out that tiny bedbugs and their eggs can hide in the spines of hardcover books. The bugs crawl out at night to feed, find a new home in a headboard, and soon readers are enjoying not only plot twists but post-bite welts.

Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.

Few Americans can not answer this question: who is the worst domestic mass murderer in United States’ history? Due to the United States media, most are aware that Timothy McVeigh slaughtered 168 people with a bomb in 1995. Most Americans also know the names of our three most monstrous serial killers: “The Green River Killer” Gary Ridgeway, Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy. The U.S. media is again responsible for the general awareness of these men; these stories deserved — and received — national attention due to our common interest in personal safety, the rule of law

It starts when the icons of a dissipated culture reduce a baby to a “fetus.” From there, Yeats’s blood-dimmed tide rolls rapidly in. Before long, a baby is not a person but a punishment, as President Barack Obama framed the matter in his familiar off-the-cuff iciness. Here is something I don’t understand: liberals are often revealed as vile, vulgar hatemongers–not all of them, of course, but far too many–yet they never seem to pay a penalty at the polls. Why is that? Margaret Thatcher’s death has been the latest occasion for the Left to show its true stripes. All across the U.K., there have been demonstrations–vulgar at best, and violent at worst. In Bristol, lefties celebrating a Thatcher “death street party” started fires, destroyed property and battled police: This evening in Trafalgar Square, liberals have turned out for a long-planned celebration of Thatcher’s death:

With President Obama, there’s always a catch. In the 2014 budget he announced last week, Obama proposed a more accurate way of calculating the inflation rate for annual cost-of-living increases in Social Security. It’s a technical change in pursuit of honesty and good government. And if adopted, it would cause benefits to grow more slowly, though almost imperceptibly so. Republican leaders in Congress ought to be delighted since they had “championed”—Obama’s word—the idea in the first place. Then came the catch. The president’s price for adopting this gentle reform was hundreds of billions in new tax increases.
