Music Video From
‘Most Hated Person’ in
Uzbekistan Features Depardieu Cameo

New York Times, by Robert Mackey

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 1/7/2013 11:28:03 PM

Just days after receiving a Russian passport from his friend Vladimir V. Putin, the French tax exile Gérard Depardieu has done a favor for the president of another former Soviet state, with an appearance in a music video with the daughter of Uzbekistan’s authoritarian leader, Islam Karimov. The Uzbek first daughter, Gulnara Karimova — described as “something of a robber baron” and “the single most hated person in the country,” in a 2005 American diplomatic cable released by WikiLeaks — is engaged in an elaborate effort to make herself into an international pop star, under the stage name

Comments:
Birds of a feather soon attract each other. No word if Depardieu was paid or how for the cameo.

It is said that Lucifer was the most beautiful of all angels. Evil can come in the form of a beautiful woman just as easily as it can come in the form of a Hillary Clinton.

Mr. Depardieu just moved from one evil socialist country to escape a 75% tax rate to live in another evil socialist country with a 15% tax rate. The evil part seems irrelevant to a French film maker.

Scientists have developed a new blood test that could detect whether or not a person will develop dementia within three years. Changes in the blood may signify Alzheimer´s disease in its earliest stages, researchers found. A new study, published in the journal Nature Medicine, identified 10 molecules in blood could be used to predict with at least 90 per cent accuracy whether people will go on to develop mild cognitive impairment or Alzheimer´s disease. It is the first research which has been able to show differences in biomarkers in the blood between people with Alzheimer´s disease before the symptoms occur

Stolen passports on Malaysia Airlines
flight reveal a security loophole
Australian Associated Press, by Jamey Keaten    Original Article

When you travel, airport security agents may pat you down, inspect your deodorant and scan your body from head to toe. But there’s a good chance that no one’s checking whether you’re using someone’s lost or stolen passport. A gaping, if little-known, loophole in international aviation security came into broader view Sunday when the international police agency Interpol said its computer systems had contained information on the theft of two passports that were used to board an ill-fated Malaysia Airlines flight — but no national authorities had checked the database. Largely unheeded, Interpol has long sounded the alarm that growing

1 The importance of "permissionless innovation" - The thing that is most extraordinary about the internet is the way it enables permissionless innovation. This stems from two epoch-making design decisions made by its creators in the early 1970s: that there would be no central ownership or control; and that the network would not be optimised for any particular application: all it would do is take in data-packets from an application at one end, and do its best to deliver those packets to their destination. It was entirely agnostic about the contents of those packets. If you had an idea for an application that could be realised using data-packets

Is Mitt Romney getting the band back together? The 2012 Republican presidential nominee has invited his debate prep advisers and senior campaign aides to his mountaintop chalet in Park City, Utah, for a weekend of skiing later this month, according to two people close to Romney. The reunion of Romney´s political brain trust comes amid a burst of positive buzz about the former Massachusetts governor -- from favorable reviews of "MITT," the Netflix documentary about his campaigns, to chatter among some powerful GOP donors about another Romney presidential campaign in 2016.

Simferopol,Ukraine - Russian flags flooded Lenin Square in the centre of Crimea´s capital Simferopol Sunday as thousands rallied in support of Moscow´s takeover of the peninsula -- vastly overwhelming a smaller pro-Ukraine demonstration nearby. The rival rallies in Simferopol were peaceful, in contrast to the Crimean port city of Sevastopol, where about 100 pro-Russians with clubs and whips attacked some 20 people who were guarding a pro-Ukraine rally. Some 10,000 people joined the pro-Russia rally in Simferopol, chanting "Russia! Russia!" as a navy band played patriotic Russian songs and dancers twirled on stage.

With nearly 48 hours passed since Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared en route to Beijing, the Boeing 777 has yet to be discovered. As investigators from numerous countries work to piece together what happened, here is everything we still do not know. 1. The location of the plane - Authorities have been combing the South China sea and surrounding waters for over a day, but still have not found any concrete evidence of the plane´s location. [Tweet] On Sunday, Vietnam released the above photo of debris that it thinks might be from Flight 370. The country also announced that it thinks it has found parts of the plane's tail as well as

The most dangerous parts of a flight are takeoff and landing. Rarely do incidents happen when a plane is cruising seven miles above the earth. So the disappearance of a Malaysia Airlines jet well into its flight Saturday morning over the South China Sea has led aviation experts to assume that whatever happened was quick and left the pilots no time to place a distress call. (Snip) The problem had to be big enough, he said, to stop the plane´s transponder from broadcasting its location, although the transponder can be purposely shut off from the cockpit.

Sepang - A Boeing 777 pilot, who was flying 30 minutes ahead of the missing Malaysia Airlines aircraft, said he established contact with MH370 minutes after he was asked to do so by Vietnamese air traffic control. The captain, who asked to not be named, said his plane, which was bound for Narita, Japan, was far into Vietnamese airspace when he was asked to relay, using his plane´s emergency frequency, to MH370 for the latter to establish its position, as the authorities could not contact the aircraft. "We managed to establish contact with MH370 just after 1.30am and asked them if they have transferred into Vietnamese airspace.

Tacoma, Wash. - Immigrant-rights activists rallied outside the Northwest Detention Center on Saturday, while at least 750 detainees protested their treatment and called for an end to deportations with a hunger strike. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement department said on Saturday morning that 750 detainees had refused to eat and said they were on a hunger strike. Local immigrant activist Angelica Chazaro says the hunger strike started Friday as a protest of deportations as well as center conditions. "They want the deportations to stop, and to be reunited with their families and children," Chazaro says.

Russia, Ukraine feud over sniper carnage

Kiev, Ukraine - One of the biggest mysteries hanging over the protest mayhem that drove Ukraine´s president from power: Who was behind the snipers who sowed death and terror in Kiev. (Snip) Ukrainian authorities are investigating the Feb. 18-20 bloodbath, and they have shifted their focus from ousted President Viktor Yanukovych´s government to Vladimir Putin´s Russia — pursuing the theory that the Kremlin was intent on sowing mayhem as a pretext for military incursion. Russia suggests that the snipers were organized by opposition leaders trying to whip up local and international outrage against the government.

Beijing - China declared a "red line" on North Korea on Saturday, saying that China will not permit chaos or war on the Korean peninsula, and that peace can only come through denuclearization. China is North Korea´s most important diplomatic and economic supporter, though Beijing´s patience with Pyongyang has been severely tested following three nuclear tests and numerous bouts of saber rattling, including missile launches. We have a red line, that is, we will not allow war or instability on the Korean peninsula," Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told reporters on the

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md.—Rand Paul handily won the presidential straw poll at the Conservative Political Action Conference Saturday, one gauge of the Republican base’s mood less than two years before the 2016 primary season kicks off. The Kentucky senator received 31 percent, far ahead of second place Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who received 11 percent. Neurosurgeon Ben Carson finished third with 9 percent, ahead of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who received 8 percent. The announcement came at the end of the group’s annual three-day confab. Organizers said that 2,459 attendees voted on computer kiosks.

The 300,000-member union that was the first to endorse then-Senator Barack Obama has released a devastating Obamacare report that says Obama´s controversial healthcare program will slash worker wages by up to $5 an hour, reduce worker hours, and exacerbate income inequality. The report by Unite Here--a North American labor union that represents workers in the hotel, gaming, food service, manufacturing, textile, distribution, laundry, and airport industries--is titled: "The Irony of ObamaCare: Making Inequality Worse." The annual D.C. roast is hosted by the exclusive Gridiron Club, which is composed of D.C.´s mainstream and "elite" journalists. Cruz has degrees from Princeton and Harvard, which those in the permanent political class covet, and he can do their social rituals better than they can.
