Goodbye, Lisa Jackson
National Review Online, by Jillian Kay Melchior

Sometimes, “good riddance” just doesn’t suffice. It is hard to imagine a bureaucrat who has done more comprehensive damage to American interests than Lisa Jackson, the departing head of the Environmental Protection Agency. During her four years as administrator, Jackson has put her radical environmental agenda before the wellbeing of the U.S. economy, the integrity of science, and even the structure of the American political system itself. Start with her regulatory record. Since January 2009, Jackson’s EPA has issued 20 “major” regulations — defined as rules with an economic cost of $100 million or more each year.

So, when will Eric Holder prosecute Ms Jackson for breaking the law by using non-government email accounts for conducting official business?

Now there is a tiny little rumor that she is leaving because Obama is going to ok the Keystone Pipeline. Can´t imagine why, unless it is a move to pretend that he is trying to improve the economic outlook with one hand while continuing the destruction with the other hand.

She is the poster child for this radical administration. She and Cass Sunstein, even though he is gone. I´m sure he has Persian tentacles in the 10,000 or more regulations he wrote during his term.

Let´s not forget here that Jackson was carrying out the wishes of the man who employes her, Barack Obama. These were essentially his dictates. He is responsible, he gets the entire blame, not the person who carried out his orders.

The next question we face is who will Obama select to replace this radical? Obama´s preference is for left wing elitists who are as devoid of cost/benefit analysis as he is: Carol Browner, his socialist Environmental czar who was Jackson´s mentor; Van Jones, his red Green Energy Czar; and John Holdren, an aging "the sky is falling" population alarmist.

If Chuck Hagel for DoD and Kerry for SoS are an indication, Jackson´s replacement will be as destructive as she is.

I say we keep a close eye on Ms. Jackson, especially as she gets old and enfeebled, and maybe her older parents and loved ones right now. Let´s go after her regulatory compliance on ever aspect of her house. Are the windows updated to the newest standard? How about sic-ing code enforcement agents on her old mom´s home to make her life miserable? I am sure we can find fences that are too close to the property line, bad insulation, or other infractions. Let´s add them up and take them to court.

Let´s keep digging until we find something, and bill them all the associated legal fees and court costs when we do. Let´s go to her families businesses, and see how well they are set up for the handicapped, and when we find they are missing something, sue them for money. While we´re at it, let´s dig around public information files and see what dirt we can find out on her family and make it even more public, say maybe a convicted felon uncle? Make SURE these things are done to older persons, or when Ms. Jackson is ill.

Perhaps a class-action suit against her, personally, for the damage she has created in specific industries. We may not win, but she will constantly be in court, fearful, angry, and powerless.

The numbers are still coming in on the Affordable Care Act, and that will continue for years. There will never be one number that tells the full story of the law’s impact on health care costs, the underlying economic health of the law, its effect on the federal deficit or job creation. This year’s model of the so-called peace process between Israel and the Palestinians “is difficult,” Secretary of State John Kerry said the other night. “It is emotional.” Yes, it is “difficult” — especially for him right now, because it just collapsed in utter failure. And yes, it’s “emotional” — especially for him right now, because he’s been embarrassed and humiliated by the public exposure of his arrant foolishness in focusing the lion’s share of his attention on the one key area in the Middle East where everything is not going straight to hell. Running regularly has long been linked to a host of health benefits, including weight control, stress reduction, better blood pressure and cholesterol. However, recent research suggests there may a point of diminishing returns with running. A number of studies have suggested that a "moderate" running regimen -- a total of two to three hours per week, according to one expert -- appears best for longevity, refuting the typical "more is better" mantra for physical activity. The researchers behind the newest study on the issue say people who get either no exercise or high-mileage runners both tend to have shorter lifespans

Voters in North Carolina can be forgiven if they turn off their televisions. In the battle for control of the U.S. Senate, no state has experienced an onslaught of negative advertising as intense as what has been unleashed in the Tar Heel State. The barrage is being fueled by wealthy independent groups from both ends of the political spectrum and reflects the importance that both parties place on winning the seat held by freshman Democrat Kay Hagan. For more than a year, conservative groups have blanketed radio and television with advertisements assaulting Hagan. Americans for Prosperity, which is closely linked to

Further loosening the reins on the role of money in politics, the U.S. Supreme Court today struck down restrictions on the grand total that any person can contribute to all federal candidates for office. Today´s decision left intact the cap of $2,600 per election that a contributor to give to any single candidate for federal office, but it invalidated the separate limit on how much can be contributed to all federal candidates put together — $48,600. The law was challenged by the Republican Party and an Alabama businessman, Shaun McCutcheon, who argued that the contribution ceilings were an unconstitutional restriction on his

The looming wreckage of President Obama’s Mideast peace push could lead to the freedom of a man held captive decades in excess of what justice demands. All the rest looks to be a disaster. Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry are dangling release of Jonathan Pollard, an American sentenced to life in prison in 1987 for spying for Israel, in the hope of pushing the Jewish state to release hundreds of Palestinians convicted of terrorism offenses in the hope of convincing the Palestinians to get with the peace program. Will Landrieu´s vote for the president´s national health care scheme -- the decisive vote, as Republicans often point out -- finally end a storied Louisiana political career? There´s no doubt Obamacare will play a big role in the campaign. Before getting to the speech itself, it’s worth noting a few things. When the Democrats passed and Barack Obama signed Obamacare, the majority opposed it. About 56%, in fact. A majority have consistently opposed that law ever since. The Obama administration touted 7 million sign-ups by March 31 as “success.” When that goal appeared to be unreachable, the administration suggested that maybe 5 or 6 million would be enough. Now, as if by magic, they have their number. Somehow. All along, the administration has touted false numbers of enrollees. All along, the administration has neglected to admit that Obamacare is

A triumphant President Barack Obama declared his signature medical insurance overhaul a success, saying it has made America´s health care system ´a lot better.´ But buried in the 7.1 million enrollments he announced in a heavily staged Rose Garden appearance is a more unsettling reality. Numbers from a RAND Corporation study that has been kept under wraps suggest that barely 858,000 previously uninsured Americans – nowhere near 7.1 million – have paid for new policies and joined the ranks of the insured by Monday night. The former two-term governor of Florida speaks fluent Spanish, is a convert to Catholicism, and has high name recognition. Jeb could raise millions of dollars over night by just saying “yes” to running. Despite all this, there are strong reasons Republicans should say no to him. 1. His last name is poison. Let’s face it, if Jeb Bush had the last name of Something Else he would have already run for president in 2008 or 2012. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll registered voters were asked if they would definitely NOT vote for Jeb Bush and 50 percent said they would not.
