Biofuels cause pollution, not
as green as thought - study

Reuters, by Alister Doyle

Original Article

Posted By:LittleHoodedMonk, 1/6/2013 11:18:27 PM

Oslo - Green schemes to fight climate change by producing more bio-fuels could actually worsen a little-known type of air pollution and cause almost 1,400 premature deaths a year in Europe by 2020, a study showed on Sunday. The report said trees grown to produce wood fuel - seen as a cleaner alternative to oil and coal - released a chemical into the air that, when mixed with other pollutants, could also reduce farmers´ crop yields. (Snip) Hewitt told Reuters there would be a similar impact wherever biofuels were produced in large quantities in areas suffering air pollution, including the United

And wind power kills umpty-zillion birds, adds no capacity, requires confiscating untold sums from taxpayers, blights landscapes, and cannot answer a demand need. Ever.

So what?

The Left "knows" wind is good, ethanol is good, humans are bad. Facts are immaterial at best.

Reuters states:

"Burning biofuels is viewed as neutral for climate change because plants soak up carbon when they grow and release it when they burn or rot. Fossil fuels, on the other hand, add carbon to the atmosphere from underground stores millions of years old."

The writer´s logic seems to be that CO2 from new biofuels is soaked up by plants in photosynthesis but the same CO2 released from oil and natural gas deposits created from natural sources millions of years ago are not. Why & how would plants reject CO2, a colorless, odorless gas from coal, oil and nat gas but accept it from wood chips and switch grass? Sorry for the ignorance.

Actually I believe the current theory of the creation of oil and natural gas has nothing to do with dead dinos and plants. It´s a natural chemical process plus heat and pressure deep in the earth. Perhaps carbon from dead organics (animals and plants) may have something to do with the formation of coal but that seems to indicate a LOT of dead critters.

Former President Bill Clinton never saw evidence of aliens when he sat in the White House, he said Wednesday, but he wouldn´t be surprised if they show up some day. During an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," Mr. Clinton was asked whether he had any inside knowledge about extraterrestrial life, and he said he´d ordered a review of records from Area 51 and Roswell -- two sites scrutinized by alien conspiracy theorists -- when he was in office. "First I had people go look at the records for Area 51 to make sure there was no alien down there," he said, "and people thought that because everybody who works there has to stop

Kiev, Ukraine - Government officials on Thursday blamed Ukrainian special police units directed by then-President Viktor Yanukovych and supported by Russian agents for killing some of the 76 people who died in the center of Kiev in February. The mystery of the deaths – many of them the result of sniper fire – has provoked numerous sinister theories. Ukrainians consider finding the killers a crucial test of their new government, not only of its competence but its commitment to transparency. Russian President Vladimir Putin accused the demonstrators themselves of the shootings, which he described as an effort to discredit the

Before getting to the speech itself, it’s worth noting a few things. When the Democrats passed and Barack Obama signed Obamacare, the majority opposed it. About 56%, in fact. A majority have consistently opposed that law ever since. The Obama administration touted 7 million sign-ups by March 31 as “success.” When that goal appeared to be unreachable, the administration suggested that maybe 5 or 6 million would be enough. Now, as if by magic, they have their number. Somehow. All along, the administration has touted false numbers of enrollees. All along, the administration has neglected to admit that Obamacare is

Obama, who visited the local Zingerman´s deli before the speech, said that Republican proposals to cut taxes for wealthier Americans and

The former two-term governor of Florida speaks fluent Spanish, is a convert to Catholicism, and has high name recognition. Jeb could raise millions of dollars over night by just saying “yes” to running. Despite all this, there are strong reasons Republicans should say no to him. 1. His last name is poison. Let’s face it, if Jeb Bush had the last name of Something Else he would have already run for president in 2008 or 2012. According to a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll registered voters were asked if they would definitely NOT vote for Jeb Bush and 50 percent said they would not.
