| WASHINGTON — In a memoir, Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, the former American commander in Afghanistan, writes that tensions between the White House and the Pentagon were evident in the Obama administration from its opening months in office. The beginning of President Obama’s first term “saw the emergence of an unfortunate deficit of trust between the White House and the Department of Defense, largely arising from the decision-making process on Afghanistan,” General McChrystal writes. “The effects were costly.”

One of the greatest tragedies of the Obama "presidency" is that our troops have been forced to serve under a commander in chief who - they all must surely, surely know - does not wish the nation well and has more sympathy for American enemies than he does for Americans. I don´t know how they do it, or stand it.

McChrystal should have never been fired over some stupid bar room chatter to begin with, especially by this liberal, know it all geek from Rolling Stone.
Obama and the muslims share a common hatred of whatever the whole package of colonialism is/was,so they were partners from the very beginning. The troop surge which took Obama 3 months to decide on, turned out to be nothing but a show of toughness, not adding assets to beat the enemy.

According to the statistics, our soldiers are committing suicide in high numbers. At least that is the story out of this whitehouse. A million of them are about to be discharged and, from the sounds of it, kicked to the curb with nothing. And they are returning to a country that re-elected a man, a party, that has historically detested them and treated them like dirt. God help them.

I´m second to none in my admiration of American military people. My family´s combat record is a 50-year nightmare. I was born on an army post and have been around military people off and on ever since.
But they´re not angels. It´s true that the people running the Pentagon and the major commands sacrificed much and behaved with great virtue to get where they are. But at this lofty level they´re managing an arm of the government, like they´re supposed to do, with their own set of interests.
And so I´d counsel against blaming tensions between the White House and the Pentagon solely on Obama´s being a boob. That´s a separate issue. He´s not the first president to be handed a defense establishment that sometimes forgets who it´s working for.

It´s bad enough going through civilian life with all of the problems caused by the stupidity of the obama administration in the past four years. I could not imagine serving in the military under this incompetent jackass and having to pretend to respect his sorry butt every day. McChrystal was a top-notch general who clashed with a worthless punk who happens to outrank him.

It shouldn´t surprise anyone that Obama isn´t Ameria´s "super fan". Long before he was elected, he wrote in Audacity of Hope (page 261 of the paperback edition) :“I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”
IIRC there was a video of him saying that exact thing at either a news conference or in an interview. My question at the time was: What constitutes an "ugly direction" in his mind? His statement should have scared the heck out of Americans, especially Judeo/Christians, despite the fact that some in that category are low-information voters.
Sorry, but I consider stoning, beheading, or behanding to be barbaric, and woman wearing a full burka is not only frightening but also obscene. Sharia Law is not a condition under which I want to live, and any one who does is not a friend.

MChrystal is responsible for rules of engagement that are getting our troops killed regularly. He is also responsible for the filthy islamofascist terrorist pig trainees killing our troops on training missions. But no one should expect much from bath house barry, who detests the military more than bill and hillary clinton detest the military.

The object of a war is to defeat the enemy´s capacity and the will to resist. Period. There is no way to be victorious unless you achieve BOTH objects. Remember, the Japaneese were at the point that they really couldn´t resist but still had the will to do so until we dropped atomic bombs on them. That is the one real credit that I give to FDR. When war was declared, he turned it over to the military, who´s generals were more than capable to win the war. Ever since, every president we have had has tried to run the war by WH politicians who have absolutely no knowledge of how to conduct a war. Their only thoughts and plans center around their personal political futures. Plus the fact is that far too many generals achieve their vaulted rank by playing politics with whomever is currently in the WH. That´s because all the high level cushy jobs are presidential appointees.
But, I still have enormous respect for the average grunt down in the trenches doing the hard work of combat. They are the best in the world.

... and this is the great tragedy of our highest ranking officers leading our military.
They are each and all **ssies.
A REAL MAN stands up and tells the truth, kicks the evil doers in the lemons and dares anyone go toe to toe. Tells THE TRUTH and lets the chips fall where they may.
Our military leaders hide behind tradition, chain of command, a "decent regard for authority" and the rest of mantra of Command Respect.
I´m 100% for chain of command. But there comes a time when a REAL MAN takes off the glove and draws down on evil.
And if you disagree with me, then you are slapping George Washington and all our Founding Fathers in the face with your ignorance. They DEFIED their sovereign rulers at the risk of their lives .... at the risk of their lives ...
Not their pensions.
I am ashamed of the limp wristed panty-waisted excuses for MEN supposedly leading our nation.

The Rolling Stone article was found to be inaccurate by a Pentagon "study." It had to be inaccurate from their POV because the article´s main point wasn´t that McChrystal´s staff called Zero a bunch of names. It was inaccurate because it chronicled the General´s travels to tactical units to try and convince them that COIN and the stupid ROE were the way to go. More importantly, the troops weren´t buying it. And that as we all know, is as accurate as it can get.

Susan Patton, the Princeton alumna who became famous for her letter urging Ivy League women to use their college years to find a mate, has been denounced as a traitor to feminism, to coeducation, to the university ideal. But really she’s something much more interesting: a traitor to her class. Her betrayal consists of being gauche enough to acknowledge publicly a truth that everyone who’s come up through Ivy League culture knows intuitively —

Former News Corp president Peter Chernin has bid around $500 million for Hulu, the online video streaming service he helped create in 2007, according to two sources with knowledge of Hulu´s sale process. The website, jointly controlled by News Corp and Walt Disney Co, reached out to potential buyers in March after initially contemplating a deal in which one would buy out the other. It is not clear whether that transaction is still being contemplated.

After lengthy investigations, the Pentagon has determined that three Army generals committed misconduct in separate incidents, adding to an unusually long list of senior military commanders who have been censured over the past year.On Friday, defense officials confirmed that Army Maj. Gen. Ralph O. Baker, the commander of a strategic counterterrorism force on the Horn of Africa, was fired March 28 on charges of sexual misconduct. Two officials familiar with the case said Baker was investigated for allegedly groping a female civilian employee after he had been drinking.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

Political scientist Charles Murray has never backed away from controversy, but usually his opponents have been liberals. Friday, however, he managed to upset conservatives at the annual conference known as CPAC, where thousands of bewildered Republicans gathered to figure out the way forward after their party’s 2012 electoral defeat. Murray ditched his prepared remarks on “America Coming Apart” in favor of an impromptu admonition to fellow conservatives to accept the legalization of both gay marriage and abortion.

VATICAN CITY—It took Jorge Mario Bergoglio four minutes to convince fellow cardinals he was their leader. Speaking in the Paul VI grand hall of the Vatican, the Argentine cardinal warned the Catholic Church against focusing too much on matters close to home—advice that came against the backdrop of a papacy that had been consumed by infighting among Vatican officials, a dwindling flock in Europe and secular trends in the West. The 76-year-old Father Jorge, as he is known back home, said Roman Catholicism needed to shift its focus outward, to the world beyond Rome—rather than being "self-referential," he said.

When President Obama gets to Jerusalem next week, one of the signals to listen for is an indication of what country he thinks he’s in. Normally this is clear when the President — any president — goes to the capital of a foreign country. He’s in whatever country the capital is capital of. But Mr. Obama has been refusing to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Not only that, but he has been refusing to admit that Jerusalem is even in Israel.

Approaching his first presidential trip to Israel, President Obama offered a fresh and foolish — if not feckless — assessment of the Iranian nuclear threat. "Right now, we think it would take over a year or so for Iran to actually deliver a nuclear weapon, but obviously we don’t want to cut it too close,” the President told an Israeli television interviewer, in the process cutting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu off at the knees and giving the mullahs breathing room to keep enriching uranium.

Paul´s stated reason for taking to the floor and talking for 13 hours was that the Obama administration wouldn´t give him a straight answer on the question of whether the president can unilaterally order the killing of American citizens on American soil with "lethal force, such as a drone strike … and without trial."

An unfortunate story on CBS New York Thursday carried this headline: "Officials: 80 Percent Of Recent NYC High School Graduates Cannot Read." It´s a shocker, but it´s also untrue. And to make things worse, the story that followed was riddled with typos. According to the New York Post, which reported the same story earlier on Thursday, "79.3 percent of city public-school grads who went to CUNY’s six two-year colleges arrived without having mastered the basics" of reading, writing, and math, and had to take non-credit remedial classes to catch up.

The law, said Rockefeller, is “so complicated and if it isn’t done right the first time, it will just simply get worse.” Rockefeller’s consternation echoes comments made earlier this

In Philadelphia, at a human abattoir on Lancaster Avenue, is where it ends, not where it starts. It starts with the perversion of language. It starts when the icons of a dissipated culture reduce a baby to a “fetus.” From there, Yeats’s blood-dimmed tide rolls rapidly in. Before long, a baby is not a person but a punishment, as President Barack Obama framed the matter in his familiar off-the-cuff iciness. Of course, to describe newborn children in their boundless possibilities and wonder would be to acknowledge, foremost, their humanity. That is why, instead, abortion enthusiasts must grope for words

Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.

In the opening sequence Rod Serling informs us: "A monster had arrived in the village. Just by using his mind, he took away the automobiles, the electricity, the machines -- because they displeased him -- and he moved an entire community back into the dark ages -- just by using his mind. . . . and the people there have to smile. With President Obama, there’s always a catch. In the 2014 budget he announced last week, Obama proposed a more accurate way of calculating the inflation rate for annual cost-of-living increases in Social Security. It’s a technical change in pursuit of honesty and good government. And if adopted, it would cause benefits to grow more slowly, though almost imperceptibly so. Republican leaders in Congress ought to be delighted since they had “championed”—Obama’s word—the idea in the first place. Then came the catch. The president’s price for adopting this gentle reform was hundreds of billions in new tax increases.

LOS ANGELES — Jonathan Winters, the cherub-faced comedian whose breakneck improvisations and misfit characters inspired the likes of Robin Williams and Jim Carrey, has died. He was 87. The Ohio native died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes, said Joe Petro III, a longtime family friend. Petro said Winters died of natural causes and was surrounded by family and friends. Winters was a pioneer of improvisational standup comedy, with an exceptional gift for mimicry, a grab bag of eccentric personalities and a bottomless reservoir of creative energy.

A few hours after Margaret Thatcher´s death on Monday, the snarling deadbeats of the British underclass were gleefully rampaging through the streets of Brixton in South London, scaling the marquee of the local fleapit and hanging a banner announcing, "THE B@&$! Mrs. Thatcher would have enjoyed all this. Her former speechwriter John O´Sullivan recalls how, some years after leaving office, she
