Krauthammer: Delayed Hurricane Sandy bill ´a rape of the Treasury´

On Friday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer argued that Speaker of the House John Boehner avoided a “rape of the Treasury” by postponing the vote on Hurricane Sandy relief legislation. New York Republican Rep. Peter King and New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie joined Democrats in blasting Boehner for the delay, but Krauthammer said some of the criticism is hypocritical. “Sometimes the hypocrisy of the Democrats would leave Diogenes stunned,” Krauthammer said. “The Democrats spent two years savaging President [George W.] Bush over his treatment of Katrina. All of a sudden it’s a paragon of how to deal with disasters.” Text added by Staff. The first sentence of the article must be posted in its entirety.

Comments: You have to wonder where $60 billion in disaster relief all could go. I know a lot of people were affected by this horrible storm, but such a high percentage of that gets wasted in the bureaucratic process of distribution.

“I think what Boehner did in postponing the vote until today was absolutely right,” Krauthammer declared. “That was a rape of the Treasury — $60 billion, including a ton of pork. The part that was essentially passed today to replenish the flood insurance. That is right, and the rest ought to be debated in regular order.”
On another show Dr Krauthammer spoke of how much of the money in the 60 billion bill would not even be allocated for years , in addition to the pork. Christie behaved like a fool and a media tool , at least Peter King publicly walked back his vitriol against Boehner.

When all is said and done, Boehner´s doing just fine.
Republicans have got to quit sniping at each other, at least publicly. The Dims don´t tear each other down -- you´d think they are all in awe of each other.

The problem #3, is that the Repubs just don´t know how to get the message out. As another poster observed the other day on this subject:
Once again the GOP doesn´t know how to inform the people what their doing, so the Dems and MSM get to tell the story.
Then when they (the GOP) get around to telling us what is going on, it all sounds like defensive posturing.

Reply #3 - President Ronald Reagan warned Republicans not to diminish or belittle each other and he referred to that warning as the Eleventh Commandment.

When is it going to be enough!
As for the loudmouthed bully, Christie.

This bill was an assault on our treasury. I want Christie and Schumer to explain how Sandy impacted commercial fisheries in American Samoa. Why we should spend $58 million planting trees on private property. I thought Christie was supposed to be a law and order guy, he´s acting more like a criminal conspirator. Can´t he be jailed under RICO.

Worse than the rape of the treasury (which doesn´t seem shocking anymore), is the insurance companies screwing these people over in the winter. They should have accended on the area in enmasse instead of waiting to find out what flood insurance will do for them.

What #2, #3 and #6 said. Once again, IMO, Charles Krauthammer is correct. King "walked back his rhetoric only AFTER the vote to give $9 billion to N.Y. Hopefully, that will end the giveaway of OUR money to every other state in the country because of a "hurricane sandy". BTW, I never saw ANY money going to Tennessee after the Grand Ol´ Opry was flooded and almost destroyed. Guess it just depends where your state is on the map when if comes to "help" from the "government" and the givers-of-pork.

Section 212(a)(4) of the Immigration and Nationality Act prohibits individuals likely to become primarily reliant on the government for survival: “An alien who, in the opinion of the consular officer at the time of application for a visa, or in the opinion of the Attorney General at the time of application for

On this weekend’s broadcast of “Inside Washington,” Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer said the two gay marriage cases currently before the Supreme Court could lead to an all-out assault on religion in the United States. “It gets really sticky,” Krauthammer said. “If the court were to decide that to deny same-sex marriage is unconstitutional, then you got Georgetown University – a Jesuit university [that offers] married student housing. It’s a Catholic University. So [when] it says it’s only going to allow heterosexuals, it will get sued. This will become an assault on religion.

In Alabama, no state legislator, Republican or Democrat, would ever question gun rights, given the state’s conservative leanings and rural setting. But Democratic Alabama State Rep. Joseph Mitchell of Mobile, Ala. has a curious take on why his constituents in his majority African-American district should appreciate their Second Amendment rights. In emails sent from Mitchell’s official state legislature account obtained by the blog Yellow Hammer Politics and published Wednesday morning, Mitchell had a heated exchange with a constituent identified as Eddie Maxwell and provided his own defense of the Second Amendment.

On Laura Ingraham’s radio show on Friday, Washington Post columnist George Will took a few digs at the Obama White House for the way it has handled the so-called sequestration crisis. According to Will, the process has shown the public just where President Barack Obama and other liberals are on government and how any reduction is “intolerable.” “I think the sequester argument is extremely useful because it’s very educational for the American public,” Will said. “When the Obama administration increases on average 17 percent the budgets of the domestic agencies that are now facing a 5 percent cut

On Monday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Special Report,” Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer predicted that tomorrow night’s State of the Union address will be the political counterpart to President Barack Obama’s fundamentally “ideological” inaugural speech. “Well, I’m not sure it will be a speech about ideas or programs,” Krauthammer said. “In fact, if the inaugural address was this sort of extraordinarily ideological address, I think the State of the Union is going to be extremely aggressive and partisan. Obama is still campaigning. He hasn’t stopped.

On his Monday program, syndicated conservative talker Mark Levin was irate at the news that former Bush administration deputy chief of staff Karl Rove is launching a political action committee to help electable Republicans win primaries. “I just love the way these crony capitalist Republicans — these big government Republicans, these establishment Republicans — I love the way they invoke William Buckley,” Levin said. “They invoke Ronald Reagan. Over the weekend, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer spoke at the National Review Institute Summit in Washington, D.C. During a question-and-answer session, he was asked if he thought President Barack Obama would attempt to hand-pick his successor in order to help guide the country down a path to “socialism.” Krauthammer began his response by advising against using that term. “I would just caution you about using the word, ‘socialism,’” Krauthammer said. “The reason is it is too broad a term. It encompasses all kinds of socialism, including the nasty totalitarian examples — the Union of Soviet Socialist Republic, Cuba, Korea.”

On his Monday radio show, conservative talker Mark Levin said that if President Barack Obama sidesteps Congress on the debt ceiling fight and attacks the Congress’ constitutionally enumerated “core power” – that is control over spending and taxing — through executive action, Congress will have “no choice” but impeachment. Levin explained that if unilateral action by the White House — which White House spokesman Jay Carney ruled out — were to happen, it would infringe on Congress’ “core power” and should be punished with impeachment. “Now, if Obama unilaterally acts — and I think there’s a fan-dance going on here

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that

No one is more preoccupied these days with Hillary Clinton´s 2016 plans than the Beltway political class—not even the former presidential candidate herself. To hear some tell it, her decision will be dispositive for all other Democrats thinking of entering the race. And pundits and reporters aren´t the only ones positing the "The Hillary Factor": No less than the House Democratic whip, Steny Hoyer, told BuzzFeed, “I don´t know that anybody would run against Hillary…. If she runs, she clears the field.” It´s an understandable conclusion, given Clinton´s stature in the Democratic Party and her 70 percent
