A New Jersey woman who became the face of post-Superstorm Sandy anguish when she appeared in a photo hugging President Obama among the ruins of her destroyed marina now says the President broke his promise to help her rebuild.Donna Vanzant, who hugged and chatted with the President when he visited her devastated North Point Marina in Brigantine on Oct. 31, told The Philly Post blog that she got the brush-off from Obama when she emailed him about relief efforts days after the photo op. "It was disturbing," she told the blog, which is edited by Philadelphia Magazine.

I feel bad for what happened to this lady, but she sounds like a pixie-dust believer. ´Oh, all the President has to do is say so, and it will happen..´ Wake up. If you read the details of her complaints they really have nothing to do with O.

She´s upset that insurance companies are totally the boats that used to be at her marina and now she has no customers.

Most of her whining was directed at the insurance companies.

O is a fraud, liar, evil man but this has very little to do with his promise to her.

Those who are rushing to turn this into the fault of the insurance company know little, if anything , about flood insurance. The odds are great that she didn´t buy flood insurance and if by some miracle she had purchased it, she is still fighting the government since most of the funds are provided by Uncle Sugar. Insurance company involvement in the program consists , in large part, of payment for administration and underwriting.

1- Nobody buys flood insurance because it´s too expensive.
2. Flood insurance is too expensive because nobody buys it.

So many posters blaming Ms. Vanzant instead of Obama! Leaving aside the appearance of gullibility, naivete, and an apparent lack of cynicism, the header encapsulates the main thrust of the story:

"Jersey Shore marina owner who appeared in iconic Superstorm Sandy picture with Obama says President broke his promise to help her rebuild"

#12, You wrote, "If you read the details of her complaints they really have nothing to do with O."

Here´s part of the very first sentence: [Ms. Vanzant] says the President broke his promise to help her rebuild. The article also contains a clear reference to Obama promising to get her back in business "immediately."

#17, #20, She DID carry insurance. #27, She DID have flood insurance. FTA: "I’m waiting on my flood policy to come through. . ."

The article is all about Obama breaking a promise made on nationwide television. There is no doubt that he DID break his promise, insurance or no insurance. I have no doubt the insurance information was emphasized in part because of the large number of people in New Orleans who were excoriated for not having any insurance, let alone flood insurance.

In my mind this story is just another report of Obama´s propensity for lying to people, and he doesn´t care if people know it. It´s another example of his scorn and disdain for all of us, whether we voted for him or not.

You have served your purpose in life -- letting yourself be used for a photo op, perhaps encouraging many (including yourself) to decide to vote for Obama. You have no further use to the Good and the Great -- now be quiet and sit in your ruins like a good little girl.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. Political scientist Charles Murray has never backed away from controversy, but usually his opponents have been liberals. VATICAN CITY—It took Jorge Mario Bergoglio four minutes to convince fellow cardinals he was their leader. Speaking in the Paul VI grand hall of the Vatican, the Argentine cardinal warned the Catholic Church against focusing too much on matters close to home—advice that came against the backdrop of a papacy that had been consumed by infighting among Vatican officials, a dwindling flock in Europe and secular trends in the West. The 76-year-old Father Jorge, as he is known back home, said Roman Catholicism needed to shift its focus outward, to the world beyond Rome—rather than being "self-referential," he said.

When President Obama gets to Jerusalem next week, one of the signals to listen for is an indication of what country he thinks he’s in. Normally this is clear when the President — any president — goes to the capital of a foreign country. He’s in whatever country the capital is capital of. But Mr. Obama has been refusing to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Not only that, but he has been refusing to admit that Jerusalem is even in Israel.

Approaching his first presidential trip to Israel, President Obama offered a fresh and foolish — if not feckless — assessment of the Iranian nuclear threat. "Right now, we think it would take over a year or so for Iran to actually deliver a nuclear weapon, but obviously we don’t want to cut it too close,” the President told an Israeli television interviewer, in the process cutting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu off at the knees and giving the mullahs breathing room to keep enriching uranium.

Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? It´s the spongy complex of proteins, found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley, that gives elasticity to dough and allows it to rise. When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon. Baking hardens the gluten, which helps the finished product keep its shape. Wheat — and gluten — is ubiquitous in the American diet.

Newtown killer Adam Lanza may have launched his murder spree at Sandy Hook Elementary School as an “act of revenge,” the Daily News has learned. A close friend of Lanza’s mother told The News that the troubled boy was a target of relentless bullying when he attended the Connecticut school years ago. “I think Adam felt betrayed by the school and this was his act of revenge,” said Marvin LaFontaine, a friend of Nancy Lanza’s. “Nancy told me he was being picked on at school. That they were just torturing him.”
