A massive cargo-carrying airship has taken shape inside one of the 17-story wooden blimp hangars at the former military base in Tustin. According to aircraft maker Worldwide Aeros Corp., construction is complete on a 36,000-pound blimp-like aircraft designed for the military to carry tons of cargo to remote areas around the world.(Snip) The Aeroscraft is a zeppelin with a 230-foot rigid skeleton made of aluminum and carbon fiber. It´s a new type of hybrid aircraft that combines airplane and airship technologies and doesn´t need a long runway to take off or land because

Aerostats in Afghanistan are supposed to stay in place for days/weeks. However they require maintenance much more often than that to repair the damage from small arms. One hole will not bring them down unless a critical system is hit but a LOT of holes will.

Washington — The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Monday finalized long-delayed rules that will require automakers to install back-up cameras in all vehicles by May 2018. The new rules set rear visibility standards that automakers will initially be able to meet only by installing cameras. At the same time, major automakers said Monday they are petitioning the Obama administration to let them end the use of side view mirrors if they install cameras that could perform the same task — a move that could improve fuel efficiency. Louisville, Ky. — Two cousins appeared in court Saturday morning in connection with a March 22 assault. With her five children inside her vehicle, a woman was struck in the face and left unconscious at the intersection of First and Jefferson streets. Tyrone Booker, 19, and Shaquazz Allen, 18, are accused in the assault. Allen´s mother said the photo lineup conducted by police is not substantial enough evidence to implicate her son. "He couldn't tell you what she look like or anything," Cheri Allen said. It may surprise some Americans to learn that almost one-quarter of the people living in Switzerland are foreigners. Even so, just over 50 percent voted last month to cap immigration, which, unchecked, could leave indigenous Swiss a minority in 50 years. Newsweek´s headline over the story was typical: "Switzerland´s Sudden Fear of Immigrants." Fear. Immigrants. The German publication Spiegel Online wrote also about "scaremongering." The enlightened reader´s thought-bubble is now supposed to register the word "racism." Many of the Republican Party’s most powerful insiders and financiers have begun a behind-the-scenes campaign to draft former Florida governor Jeb Bush into the 2016 presidential race, courting him and his intimates and starting talks on fundraising strategy. Concerned that the George Washington Bridge traffic scandal has damaged New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s political standing and alarmed by the steady rise of Sen.
