60 billion? All of the State of New Jersey isn´t worth that. Fraud and waste will eat up 59 of it.

So sad Boehner probably didn´t watch Gingrich tonite on Hannity. Newt knew exactly what to do. Pass the part that is to go directly to victims now. The only bill voted on should be a pork-free one, then put the rest back in the Senate´s lap.

Even if he passes the $9 billion alone,the senate will reload it with pork.The left doesn´t want anything to pass because their new battle cry is a do nothing congress.

How difficult is it for Boehner to state that he isn´t going to allow a vote on a bill that is loaded up with other spending, completely unrelated to Hurricane Sandy? How difficult is it to point out that others in Congress are cynically using this disaster to get more goodies for their states? Any of us could defend the decision to refuse to put this porked-up bill before the House. Why can´t the Speaker effectively speak?

My sympathy for New Jersey dissapated when they turned away a utility crew from Alabama because it was non union. Fix your own problems, but not on my dime.

Exactly 10. They just voted a man for Speaker who has no ability to ´speak´. But, what can you expect from Republicans. The country needs Newt Gingrich back in the House of Reps very badly. The House is the most powerful branch of the government, and the republicans run it like a dog house.

I´m all for private property but why should US taxpayers have to pay to restore someone´s private property? Also, how much of the NJ beachfront is public but inaccessible because some private homeowner will not allow the public to access the public beach vis his private path?

I´m all for those poor souls getting help but at some point they are going to realize they will never be made whole, not by the government or any other foundation. Sad.

What would be so damn difficult about standing on the House floor and READING OUT LOUD a list of the ridiculous and non-applicable pork (along with the name of the sponsoring Senator) stuffed into this "Emergency" Aid Bill?

When this pork laden relief bill passes will it be added to the base line budget and get added into the overspending every year? Probably!!

Also on the radio there was an analysis o f the POrk in the bill. Project Head Start gets $100 million. a fortune. How would onestate spend that much. they could issue chits for Denny´s(c) to every kid for a year and only spend $10 million.

Of all the relief organizations you could list, including "free" money from the US Treasury, the only one I trust is the Salvation Army.

I am still stunned that Boehnor was re elected speaker - he might just as well be obama´s twin brother. Why are most of the Rs in the House so scared to do what the people want? They become a race apart when they get into the halls of congress. The Sandy aid package should stand alone without any pork whatsoever. Give each family a pre-determined sum and let each decide how to go about rebuilding their lives. Set aside a pre-determined amount for restoration of roads and utilities, and leave it at that. People all over the country have already donated princely sums because that´s what you do to help a neighbor in need.

And it is to be paid for how?

Oh...just print more money.

it will be on C-SPAN at 3 am.
All during the election cycle, it was often posted-
" Why doesn´t Romney say this or that " ?
Romney had actually said this or that in campaign stops and it never got reported.
By either the media or the right wing talk radio.
The attitude by too many on the right is -" Because I didn´t hear it ... it wasn´t said ".
Until Republicans control the Senate , the presidency and the media ,
the options from the House are very limited.
Saying No to everything accomplishes nothing.
Passing bills in the House that only appeal
to the far right ,
die in the Senate and accomplish nothing.
Boehner does not have a magic wand ,
the Senate is controlled by the Democrats 55-45 ,

The House of Representatives has special powers that no other branch has. It has the power--

1. To start all revenue (money) bills.

2. To impeach civil officers.

3. To elect a President if no candidate receives a majority of the electoral votes.

They can impeach Obama and the Senate would be forced to have a trial.
They can shut down the government.
They can cut off all regulators and regulation.
They can call a special investigation of the last election...and halt the installation of Obama.
The House has real power.
They can impeach Ruth Badger Ginsberg.
They can impeach the VP for groping.
They can put Hillary in jail,,,,,

Yes #24,the meda filter is quite a problem. However, it doesn´t keep Boehner from communicating with other Republicans such as King and Christe and spelling out strategy so that they don´t go off half-cocked. Also, Fox doesn´t refuse to air Republican explanations. Boehner should have been in front of this issue and explained his position again and again until he broke through. Didn´t happen.

I am going to give Boehner the benefit of the doubt, an suggest the first Bill was to FEMA, then on Jan l5 they will downsize the second Bill an take out the Pork. He needed the time to get his ducks lined up.
