Here´s to hoping we all keep our jobs, the unemployed find new jobs, and Obama can´t do too much damage, and therefore focuses on different ways to get applause and adulation for himself. It´s the only way to keep him busy yet without harm to ourselves.

Having some shrimp dumplings from Trader Joe´s and wonderful Korbel champagne.

I have high hopes for a "kick them where the sun don´t shine" year and will keep fingers crossed...and take back MY country. I can´t express the rage I really feel because my Irish temper would get me kicked out.

Happy New Year to all in 2013!

Happy New Year. I pray that in 2013 the Republicans in the House remember to read the Constitution and stand up to the Dictator-Wanna-Be Obozo and use the power of the purse to stifle this evil man and his agenda.

Boehner needs to stand up or stand aside.

My usual optimism is really being strained by the turn this country has taken and direction that was confirmed in November. God Help Us. Oh, and Obama Voters...you´re on your own, you´ll get NOTHING from me. Go ask your Uncle Sugar, I´m personally all tapped out.

Happy New Year, Lucianne and to your fine staff, too. Here´s to a much better 2012 for everyone.

To top off this great year, I just stopped up my garbage disposal. I came in to my computer to calm down before trying to fix it.

2013 has to be better!

Happy New Year......one day closer to the end of the Obama era. Remember the old Charlie Brown strip, he´s walking out of the house with the weight of the world on his shoulders.
From inside comes a voice..."Have a good day Charlie Brown.........survive." That is my prayer every day for our wonderful country.......SURVIVE!

Two scientific predictions for 2013.

1) We are just over a week from breaking the record for the most number of consecutive days without a tornado fatality in the US (197). January is the safest month for tornadoes in the US, so we have a good chance.

https://twitter.com/spann/status/285798051082289153

2) There´s a comet coming in 2013 that could be a great show. Comet predictions have a terrible track record, so note the word "could."

May this be a blessed and happy new year for all of us; and may health abound especially to our generous Hostess and her faithful staff.

To get our minds off the fake illnesses of various political actors in the news lately, I have put a platter of garlic bread sammiches at the end of the bar for those who forgot to eat hearty before clinking glasses in the new year. (Or for those who could get lost in a snow bank or a dense fog.)

How its done: 6 slices (purchased) frozen garlic bread--heat by directions on the package; top each with slice with dejon mustard, thinly sliced ham or turkey and some Swiss or Gruyère cheese. Toast lightly until cheese melts. Serve them on a pretty platter to mask how easy it is.

A most happy new year to the Lucianne staff and all of the posters, from the north Georgia mountains. This web page has helped me in so many ways. I pray that 2013 will be a better year, personally and politically.

I did a lot of cooking/baking over the holidays, so my contribution to the virtual buffet is a Honey Baked Ham -all I have to do is pick it up and pay for it!

Wish I could go back to my old name as I don´t feel like crashing anything.

A happy, healthy and blessed new year from our house to all the Lucianne family, the staff and all Ldotters. This country wasn´t destroyed by the civil war. We survived Pearl Harbor and successfully fought the Germans and Japanese simultaneously. A skinny Chicago street hustler is going to be a piece of cake by comparison, even with an allied MSM and an army of uninformed voters. Keep the faith.

Happy New Year and good health to all. I consider myself lucky, I remember growing up in the great State of Vermont, before the communists moved in, I remember how great California was before jerry brown became governor in the 70’s and things started to erode, and I remember how wonderful America was when the Democratic Party was full of patriotic folks, before carter, clinton and this wretched administration set out to destroy this noble Experiment in Democracy. But I still have hope thanks to all who share this forum.

I´m going to join my cousin and his wife at the San Diego Zoo for an early dinner, along with a group of friends. We always enjoy the company of the animals on New Years. They can´t regurgitate left-wing talking points, and they´re safely confined to cages, where the Left in this country belong.

It looks like 2013 is starting out to be the year of the venomous snake, a king cobra perhaps. Fortunately, snakes eat their young, so maybe Harry Reid will devour Nancy Pelosi, who will in turn be gobbled up by Robert Gibbs. Not that I wish ill on anyone, mind you...

Happy New Year to the best people in the world (wide web)! I´ve made my annual New Year´s meat and veggie egg rolls as my contribution. I´m passing on any libations, though, as I may get to drive my daughter to the hospital to deliver a new granddaughter to our family at any moment! Her hubby is currently in Afghanistan, so I´m blessed to be his stand-in!

It´s been a tough year, but I´d just like to thank you all for your wit, wisdom and insight each and every day. I depend on it more than you can know. I wish you all of you lovely LDotters every blessing in 2013. Cheers!

Dear Ldotters,
2012 has been one heckuva year for me. I finally finished my divorce in July which went on for almost 3 1/2 years. I gave her everything there was to give money and property wise plus an extra $2,000.00 to top it off. It was wort every penny and more and I am happier now than ever in my life. My career as an Architect has hit bottom thanks to the economy. The good news is I went to school this month and now have a Security Guard license. I will continue on and become an armed guard and maybe I can protect children in schools in the future. Not sure what gun to buy. Thinking of a Sig Sauer 9mm, or the Smith & Wesson Sportsman 10mm. Probably will go with the 10. Bigger is better. Go ahead and make my day suckahs.... :-) 2013 is going to be awesome! Happy New Year to all!!!! JJ

A) Happy New Year!

B) Just three resolutions!

C) Don´t you wish Romney was getting ready.

D) As we just learned: so long as the children are OK nothing else matters.

And finally, God Bless and keep all who are serving, have served, their families and friends, and may we be among those who never forget.

Yes, 2012. I´m going to get very, very, very inebriated tonight. If we are still a democratic republic and the earth is not a radio-active ash heap in fourteen hundred and eighty days, would someone please awaken me and give me some black coffee?

Thank you Lucianne and Staff. You allow me to vent a lot of frustrations.

First, I am not a doctor, but many members of my family are. They all agree that the treatment of Hillary defies all medical logic. From her diagnosis of brain clot to the treatment of blood thinners. The usual result from such treatment is death. Sorry Hillary, but you know too much.

Happy 2013 everyone. Things can only get better.

2013 begins my career as an author of "The Fighting Hawks at D-Day" an historical fiction to teach our kids the value of their freedom. Freedom isn´t free will no longer be just a slogan. One of the characters is my stepson who was killed in Iraq. Available on Amazon.

Please take time tonight to remember our military all over the globe fighting to keep us free. Please especially remember the families of the fallen in 2012. Tonight will be a very difficult night for them.

May God recognize that this country is still worth saving. There are still more of us than them.

Happy New Year fellow LDotters! It will be up to God, with our help, to save this great nation!

Happy New Year to all great LDotters, to our wonderful Hostess and her family, and to the Staff that helps keep this place on the ball.

Hagar has been busy shucking some delicious Chesapeake Bay oysters for us to enjoy as single fried oysters, all you can eat. If you prefer them raw, then we have those too. Blackeyed Peas are in the crockpot along with some yummy greens to round out the offerings. Sure hope someone else thought of homemade rolls and maybe some dessert....we got FAMILY to feed here!!

Some of you great folks join us the rest of the year on the Connection....we sure need all the good people we can get.

Bless you all.

I am also sad to see Photoonist disappear. What an amazing contributor and, poof! gone? Hazymac signed off, and I´m sorry to see him go as well. I hope they come back in the new year along with others who I may not have kept tabs on.

As for me, well, I really don´t feel like celebrating anything this evening. Do we have anything to look forward to? Is survival something to look forward to. I wish there was a bigger fight I could join in to defeat the hijackers who have stolen our country.

I resolve to do my part to go Galt in the New Year as I do think that is the best we can do short of a full-on revolution. Each individual needs to work to undermine Obama at every turn by simply not playing along -- don´t create wealth and don´t pay tax by not creating wealth. Live frugally. Find enjoyment in denying the leftists their golden eggs, as they cut us open to get them all now.

Glad to have a place to go for New Year´s Eve, lol. We seem to have hit this timeframe where the college kids get to go out and the teenagers still need rides because they need rides home, but we stay home! Ugh. I will be attending a Watchnight service tonight at church - my first, so I´m curious - but I´ll be glad to have a drink with you all in the meantime!

Hi everyone! Here´s to a happy, healthy and hopeful 2013 -- no matter what anybody else says. I´m not particularly religious in the traditional western fashion, but I love when I hear Christians say "I´ve already read the last chapter, and we win." Way cool. THAT´S the mindset that will get us through this beastly fix we´re in.

It´s cool and clear out here in the SoCal desert. New Years Eve is amateur night -- second only to St. Paddy´s maybe -- so I´m diving for cover safe at home this evening. A couple cocktails (ok, a few) and some fun on the phone with my out-of-state homies, a few pop-ins with you guys, and poof! it´s 2013. Up at 5:30 for an early morning desert bikeride, and that´s that. Life is good. Bring it.

Molon labe.

Happy New Year!

Also saw that on Election Day were Photoonist´s last post #36 and #53 ...

Hopefully he still lurks and will know how much we miss him... and maybe stop by and help me carry one of the magnum´s of bubbly from the back seat of Miss Lucianne´s pink caddy parked behind the diner... I wish dear Lucianne and her family, the incredibly dedicated, talented staff and all of you wonderful L-Dotters a very healthy and happy 2013. 2012 was a killer with the disastrous ruling on 0bamacare and the even more disastrous re-election of the malevolent 0bama and all that that brings. It´s been a tough one. I too wondered what happened to Photoonist. There is definitely a void without him and his posts.

I have been avoiding the news for the last few days. I´m sick of hearing "fiscal cliff" over and over again. There´s only so much you can tolerate. I don´t know what we would do without this port in the storm during these difficult times where we can all comisserate over the difficulties are we facing in our nation. My best to all of you for 2013. We will all persevere somehow.

The murderer is the new celebrity. He emerges out of nowhere with a rags to mass murder story, and is swiftly accorded all the trappings of fame. Reporters track down anyone who knew him to learn about his childhood and his main influences. Relatives and friends both contribute fuzzy anecdotes, mostly indistinguishable from the ones they would present if he were competing on American Idol or running for president.

I’ve been writing about media coverage of abortion for many years. And so have many others. If you haven’t read David Shaw’s “Abortion Bias Seeps Into The News,” published in the Los Angeles Times back in 1990, you should. That report also explains why we cover the topic here at GetReligion. But the thing is that I’m getting kind of sick of pointing out egregious bias only to see things not just remain bad but get worse. Just think, in the last year, we saw the media drop any pretense of objectivity and bully the Susan G. Komen Foundation

There is a fine and often unspoken line of trust between journalists and their sources, which often takes months, if not years, to establish. Break that line with one source and you’ll face an uphill battle the next time you want to establish confidential rapport with another. But what happens when the trade off is jail time? It’s a dilemma Fox News reporter Jana Winter is facing right now, provided she refuses to reveal her sources.

When it first became clear that the CIA’s Benghazi talking points had been altered, many of us viewed the White House as the prime suspect. After all, it served President Obama’s political purposes to claim, at the height of a political campaign in which he was taking credit for the fall of al Qaeda, that the death of a U.S. ambassador was down to spontaneous outrage over a video, rather than pre-planned terrorism. It turns out, however, that the State Department was the prime culprit. It was State that pushed back hard against the original talking points.

Republican lawmakers, who have spent months seeking to tie President Obama to last year’s deadly attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, are increasingly focusing their probe on a new target: former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton. The GOP-led investigation of the Sept. 11, 2012, assaults that killed U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three others now centers heavily on the State Department and whether officials there deliberately misled the public about the nature of the assault. Three State Department officials are scheduled to testify before a House committee on Wednesday about the Benghazi attack and its aftermath.
