Isakson: Negotiations at Point
Where ‘Revenue is No

PJ Media, by Bridget Johnson

Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) said this morning on CNN that he believes fiscal cliff negotiations have progressed to a point where “the revenue issue is no longer a question.” “I think we stand close to a deal,” the senator said. “The question is making sure any new revenues go to debt spending reduction and deficit relief rather than new spending. It’s deficits that got us into this problem. It’s only reducing deficits that get us out of this problem,” he added. Democrats this morning offered $450,000 as a deal

"“The question is making sure any new revenues go to debt spending reduction and deficit relief rather than new spending."

What a completely idiotic statement. If the Dems had any intention of cutting just one dollar of spending, it would be out there.

More heroin for the Washington junkie.

Any increased revenues are already spoken for by liberals to fund their insatiable appetite for big government welfare programs and expansion of big government. There is no intention by obama and the leftist to pay down the debt. The operative word is debt. obama talks about deficit reduction only as a setup for a m

....and when the IRS finishes sucking up all the tax money from those making $450000 + and the economy still hasn`t improved, then, they come back blaming the GOP an ask for more taxes from those earning less than $250K.

It`ll never be enough. The govn would take 100% of your income if they could then demand you get a 2nd job and pay more.

Only a Senator could say with a straight face that "any new revenues goes toward deficit reduction" when we have a trillion dollar deficit. Brilliant, Johnny!

BUENA VISTA, Va. — Many of the hundreds of people gathered on a recent Saturday for a free clinic are exactly the types of people Obamacare is trying to reach — generally poor in pocketbook and in health, who either lack insurance or whose bare-bones policies don’t cover vision or dental care. Despite an intensive effort by the Obama administration and heavy spending on outreach by the president’s political allies and the health care industry, the 500-plus patients at the massive traveling clinic in Buena Vista are either unaware or unswayed by the law. “Everybody here shouldn’t be here,” said

If President Obama and Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel get their way, a typical U.S. Army sergeant stands to lose up to $5,000 in annual benefits, according to a leading veterans group that is mobilizing for battle over the proposed cuts to the retirement, health care and other compensation offered to those who serve. The budget restructuring outlined by Mr. Hagel last month calls for a series of politically tricky compensation reductions that risk outraging active-duty and retired service members who signed up for duty with the belief that they could rely on a rock-solid pension system to help pay for

The DNC can put all the lipstick on the pig they want. They can groom the pig like a poodle, bathe it in San Pellegrino mineral water, dip it in a vat of perfume and dress it up like Marie Antoinette. But it’s still a pig: Tuesday’s defeat in FL-13´s special House election, combined with other new data, suggests that the Democrats are in for a very long and brutal election night this November. By all objective measures, Democrat Alex Sink should have won Tuesday. She had statewide name ID, having already served as Florida’s chief financial officer. She had

At this point in a midterm election the smart contributor money in Washington, D.C., and elsewhere is trying to figure where to place its bets in November. Both parties are road-testing messages for the fall. That’s why tonight’s stunning special-election victory by Republicans in a Florida House district won twice by Barack Obama has national implications. Democrats are in for a “bumpy ride,” as Bette Davis would put it. Republicans shouldn’t have won tonight. Their candidate, 41-year-old David Jolly, was easily caricatured as a former congressional staffer and Washington lobbyist. He was vastly outspent by Democrat Alex Sink and her

The decline in President Barack Obama´s popularity has heightened the vulnerability of his fellow Democrats in this fall´s congressional elections, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll. The survey shows that just 41 percent of Americans approve of Obama´s job performance, a record low for his time in the White House. An endorsement from the sixth-year presidential incumbent would make 42 percent of Americans less likely to vote for a congressional candidate, while it would make only 22 percent more likely to support a candidate. President Obama has cast himself as the leader of a global coalition opposed to Russian aggression in Ukraine, but it’s not clear exactly where he is leading it. Analysts say key allies in Europe remain reluctant to take tough action against Moscow, recognizing the economic and energy leverage Russia wields over them. Although Mr. Obama undoubtedly has succeeded in rallying countries, including China, to condemn Russian action, it remains to be seen whether they will offer anything other than words and, in turn, whether such a U.S.-led coalition will produce tangible results.

In the next few days, the Senate will begin debate on the reauthorization of a child-care development block-grant program — a small, relatively noncontroversial program that is likely to pass. In this case, it’s not the “what” of the effort that’s most important but the “how.” The debate is expected to take a different course, with both sides getting equal time to make arguments and offer amendments — a practice that has pretty much all but disappeared in the increasingly partisan Senate. Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (D-Nev.) is expected to cede control of the floor to the bill’s lead

Peter Beilenson dreamed of bright, affordable health-care centers in working-class neighborhoods, staffed with doctors paid a flat salary — rather than per patient — and lifestyle coaches encouraging healthier living. Tiny waiting rooms would reinforce the message that all patients would be seen quickly. A human would always answer the phone. Specialists could immediately be consulted by videoconference. And there would be free yoga. Such common-sense approaches, Beilenson believes, will eventually drive down health-care costs. Buried in President Obama’s newly enacted Affordable Care Act, he found a way to test that theory. But because of hard-to-resolve problems with Maryland’s new

But as much as the Texas governor’s morning address impressed the crowd, it was the second event in which he participated Friday that will be far more important if the Republican Party is serious about winning more swing voters in 2016. You have probably seen all of the ridiculous speculating about the GOP nomination in 2016. This is still speculating, but my sincere hope is you don’t think it’s ridiculous too. Kentucky Senator Rand Paul is laying the foundation for his presidential bid in concrete and steel. First, forget about Jeb Bush unless you want to hand Hillary eight years in the White House. The latest Rasmussen poll shows her leading Jeb in a general election 47 percent to 33. His name is Bush and to the general public the specifics of how smart he is doesn’t matter one iota.
