halting tax hikes for the
wealthy is stopping fiscal
cliff deal

NBC News, by Carrie Dann

President Barack Obama on Sunday said congressional Republicans and their insistence on preventing tax increases for the very wealthy are standing in the way of a deal to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff. In an exclusive interview on NBC´s "Meet the Press," the president chided House Republicans as the clock continued to run out on a potential agreement. "They say that their biggest priority is making sure that we deal with the deficit in a serious way, but the way they´re behaving is that their only priority is making sure that tax breaks for the wealthiest

Socking it to the rich is a diversion from the real issue - the debt will crush us and leave the country as we know it in ruins. Then, it´s the despots.

Obama lies. The Democrats have never shown any willingness to compromise, any more than the Republicans. And where has he been all this time, until right on the verge of the deadline, to try to broker an agreement? The whole bunch up there need to be fired for incompetence and dereliction of duty (including Zero).

And not cutting any free Obama-bucks spending is the top priority of the Administration. They haven´t passed a budget in three years because, in the word of Harry Reid, it wouldn´t be politically favorable to Democrars. Screw them. No deal.

Pardon my French but this is f****** bull crap. He has taken a $160 bill deficit he inherited from W and raised it to $1600 bill. Expense savings plans (that´s only plans not actual) total to $38bill. And he is talking about tax rates. This is truly disgusting and utterly risible.

First off our
"Kenyan King" should get on his good buddies in the Senate to pass a budget. It has been over three years since the morbid Harry Reid full filled his duties. Why is there no penalty for this lawfully required job not being done?

Let´s remember "It´s the spending stupid" - not the Republicans

who have created the mess we are in.

The headline could just as easily have read, "Obama´s insistence on taxing the job creators is stopping the fiscal cliff deal". But the media is setting up to blame the Republicans and specifically the tea party for the impasse.

If the Repugs want to continue as a viable political party they need to take a moral stand on deficit spending. They have failed miserably in the past and have no relevance today if they do not.

Wait a minute, the deal was approved by Congress and signed by the president. It calls for taxes to go up for everyone and spending to go down a tiny little bit. All that´s happening now is that the Democrats want a new deal. All you Republicans stand up and say, "We are not changing the deal you voted for and signed." People who stopped looking for work won´t pay taxes. But we don´t have to pay them extended unemployment insurance or low income tax credits.

Let me get this straight. If Obama can´t tax the rich he will tax everyone. Yeah this is typical Dem/commie logic. And the left believes he is looking out for them.
Note to Repubs . send bill over to the senate raising taxes on the rich but also include a tax cut measure for the middle class below what is in the bush tax plan. See how fast they turn that down. But I don´t believe the Repubs have the sense or guts to do this

Boehner should simply state, "Obama wants spending increases that amount to more than what is projected to be received from the top 2% he demands pay more."

It´s obvious the president isn´t serious about reducing the deficit, or paying down our national debt. And that tax increase on the top 2% would only cover about 8 days worth of Obama gov´t spending.

Obama is truly a demogogue extraordiaire. Boehner has already indicated the tax on the wealthy that Republicans are ready to reluctantly accept even though Obama has no iterest in really cutting the spending. If only a majority of Americans realized that we are a bankrupt country and Obama is making the possibility of recovery more difficult by the day. One day, this will all explode and, of course, Obama and the press will loudly proclaim it is the Republicans fault. We the people has become, we the government and it appears that is all that matters to this president.

Let us go over the "cliff". Let everyone feel the APIn zippy and the Dems are causing.

Then, elect a new House Speaker in January who has some cojones.

Then pass a tax reform bill that changes the tax system to something less complex, lower and more fair.

Then let the Dems and zippy veto it.

Think back to 1997, when Nancy Pelosi led an all Democrat contingent onto the Capitol steps to protest Republican effort to impeach Bill Clinton. Since media loved BJ, the demonstration received big press coverage. While press coverage for a Republican event will be far less than today´s NFL scores, the Senate and House Republicans need to do the same today or Monday morning. Will hopefully produce a unified response of "it´s better to go off a relatively small fiscal cliff today than to push our children off an enormous one in 3 to 5 years." Such a protest would surely lead the Congressional Black Caucus to claim "those racist Republican Tea Baggers spit on us".

Given the circumstances and the well-orchestrated public relations trap that Obama is setting for them, Republicans should turn the table on Progressives and out-trump them by proposing even higher taxes on the very wealthy than Democrats are demanding. We all know that top earners can afford it or will find loopholes to avoid the additional hit on their incomes.

Afterwards, when even the “low-information” public is forced to acknowledge that Obama got even more than he wanted and the economy remains flat, or worse, goes into another recession and is hit with another credit downgrade because of continued reckless borrowing and spending, Obama and his Democrat cronies will get the blame they deserve the next couple of election cycles. Republicans can then begin to repair the damage Democrats have wrought.

We can’t possibly tax our existing earner-base enough to achieve national prosperity. Our government has to grow our economy by fostering a business environment that Obama disdains in which investors have sufficient motivation to fund the expansion of existing domestic business and lend to entrepreneurs to create new private sector jobs in the U.S.

Go ahead and increase taxes on millionaires. They all support scumbama anyway. But it´s pointless, since millionaires don´t actually have earned income.

Enjoy the brown banana, America. No, that´s not a scumbama joke. Look up Dominic Flandry:

agreeable time to inhabit: peace and pleasure, and the society not yet rotted so
far that chaos sets in. One might say the Empire is a banana just starting to

In school, a child who gets a 67 percent will generally get a D. But for Obamacare, 67 percent is apparently grounds for an A. Talk about grading on a curve. In 2012, the Congressional Budget Office projected that 9 million people would get health insurance for 2014 through Obamacare’s government-run exchanges. Two days ago, the Obama administration announced that 6 million people had gotten insurance for 2014 through those very same exchanges—and the administration could barely contain its glee. The medical profession has never before remotely approached today’s stress, work hours, wasted costs, decreased efficiency, and declining ability to focus on patient

As part of its plan to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, the Obama administration is targeting the dairy industry to reduce methane emissions in their operations. This comes despite falling methane emission levels across the economy since 1990. The White House has proposed cutting methane emissions from the dairy industry by 25 percent by 2020. Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas. Some of these methane emissions come from

U.S. President Barack Obama and Pope Francis met Thursday for the first time at Vatican City, offering a chance for a reset of sorts between the administration and Catholic leadership following years of strained relations. The two world leaders greeted each other with a smile and a handshake, and posed for pictures before sitting down across a table from each other. The goal of the meeting: Focus on areas where two of the world´s most influential men agree and gently tread ground where they differ. The President and the Pontiff will, as the White House said in a statement, focus on "shared commitment

Nearly six in 10 people disapprove of President Obama´s job performance in a new poll by the Associated Press, the highest rating recorded by the newswire. According to the AP-GFK survey released Wednesday, 59 percent disapprove of Obama´s job performance while 41 percent approve. A similar poll released by the news outlet in January found 45 percent approved of him while 53 percent disapproved. Other recent polling has found Obama´s disapproval rating slightly lower, remaining in the low 50s. A CBS News poll Tuesday showed 50 percent disapproval, while Gallup has his disapproval at 52 percent. In the AP poll,

One by one, the myths of the Affordable Care Act have been revealed. When the curtain on open enrollment falls on March 31, the last remaining big myth of ObamaCare will be fully exposed: The individual mandate has failed. After a last-ditch effort with President Obama himself encouraging "young invincibles" to sign up before the deadline, the administration is scrambling to boost enrollment. On Tuesday, the White House announced that people who applied for coverage on the federal health-insurance exchange will have until mid-April to finish the paperwork. The mandate was supposed to be the administration´s magical elixir for the assorted shortcomings

More than six million Americans have now signed up for private insurance under the Affordable Care Act, according to the White House, with just four days to go until the end of its first open enrollment period. While traveling in Italy on Thursday, President Obama shared the news in a conference call with thousands of health-care navigators and volunteers helping enroll people on state and federal marketplaces. As the volume of consumers seeking health plans has surged -- there were over 1.5 million visits to HealthCare.gov Wednesday and more than 430,000 calls to the marketplaces´ call centers -- Obama urged those on

When Jorge Mario Bergoglio became Pope Francis a little more than a year ago, the first thing that struck those who knew him well was his unexpected, beatific smile. “In Argentina, he didn’t smile like that,” Sergio Rubin, the pope’s biographer, said this week at a conference sponsored by the Ethics and Public Policy Center. “That was the big surprise.” Since then, the pope has mostly kept on smiling — in homilies, in audiences, in meetings with the homeless and the poor. If you look at the pictures from Francis’ meeting with President Obama on Thursday, though, the smile is there only some of the time.

Their target is the GOP, but they are not angry liberals bent on destroying it. They are reform-minded Republican leaders intent on strengthening it. These Republicans are applying conservative principles to 21st-century challenges, focused on middle-class concerns like lowering costs and improving access to college, modernizing health care and reforming the tax code. They aim to broaden prosperity´s reach through markets and merit, not government and corporate cronyism. They´re also concentrating on helping the poor by changing Washington´s dizzying assortment of antipoverty programs to emphasize work and make the safety net more effective and sustainable. The reformers´ success in providing

One is a world leader who has been praised for his humility and outlook on the world. The other is an American president, once the international superstar of the political stage. So it is no surprise that President Barack Obama has travelled to the Vatican in Rome possibly to get some tips from the popular Pope Francis who now even has own weekly glossy magazine dedicated to him. As he sat down with the Pontiff at the Vatican this morning, Obama called himself a ´great admirer´ of the pope. Their historic first meeting comes as Obama´s administration and the church

All 17 Democrats on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee have called on Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) to end the “partisan” investigation into the Benghazi attack “and begin focusing instead on conducting responsible oversight to implement constructive reforms.” The Dems, led by ranking member Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), charged that the probe “has been characterized by wild and unsubstantiated political accusations that turn out to be completely inaccurate.” They proceeded to outline those instances in the five-page letter. “Continuing this reckless pattern of launching wholly unfounded accusations on national television — and racking up more and more Pinocchios in the process —

Usually the type of Republicans MSNBC hosts invite on their shows are either craven RINO types who can be depended upon to trash talk fellow Republicans, or the more inarticulate, dimmer bulbs in the party who fail to communicate conservative positions effectively. MSNBC host Chris Hayes had an entirely different type of animal on his hands with PA Americans For Prosperity Director, Jennifer Stefano. In fact, he´s probably still licking his wounds after the nasty confrontation he had with her, Wednesday night in a debate over the latest ObamaCare delay. He got off on the wrong foot by introducing Stefano
