Give me a break. Obama signed the sequestration into law, and now Obama´s proposed solution included giving him the unlimited abitlity to raise the debt limit at his whim, the eqivalent of making Obama King Of The Universe For Life. He knew it would be rejected. His proposal was just flipping off the Republicans. If Congress is driving us over a cliff, it was Obama who jammed the accelerator to the floor and then stole the steering wheel.

Despite all the hub-bub of the election (or perhaps because of it) a large part of the electorate has been in a trance. They walked to the polls with eyes glazed over, tuned out from reality, like in the (bad) sci-fi movie "Zardoz". This sleeping giant needs to be awakened.

Is that bad? Perhaps, by dramatically paring down the budgets of some Agencies, we would clearly see how useless they are.

Federal agencies have informed their employees that they probably wouldn’t feel the impact immediately, but the reality that widespread furloughs are possible is setting in for a deeply anxious federal workforce.

Why should government Agencies be immune to budget cuts? If anything, it is the government that needs some serious surgery to remove the cancer causing bureaocratic bloat. There are far too many gov´t Agencies that should be cut for their inefficiencies and mostly, for their utter uselessness except for creating more regulations. The country would never know the difference but money spent by and for these Agencies would be saved.

I say cut all funding for both NEA´s, NPR, EPA and most of the other ones not so well known. I´d bet anything we´d save a bundle, not just on salaries and overhead, but on pensions as well.

As for what happens to the people laid off, get a real job from your buddy, Mr. O. He´s the one holding back progress in the private sector. Talk to him about it.

This is the same sequestration that Obama blithely said in the debate, "isn´t going to happen" So nonchalant. So offhand. It´s just our nation. It´s just America. Ho hum. Isn´t there a golf game or some surfing I can do, all at taxpayers (who aren´t paying their fair share) expense?

Obama thought he could burst out in his Superman costume, point at Congress, order them to pass everything he wants into law immediately and the whole country would be giving him a standing ovation. This is how it played out in the fantasy world he lives in. Back on the ground reality is setting in quickly. Put your seatbelts on LDotters. The brain dead Obama voters are about to get what they asked for.

Where are the Republicans??? Did they not send a bill to the Senate months ago where it languished? Why is this not put back - and put back LOUDLY - on the senate and ´executive´ branch where it belongs??

Turn off the TVs...this is more hyped "crisis" to be used as an "opportunity" by this administration, with the full cooperation of the Republican leadership that brought us to this point.

Go over the cliff. Make everyone pay more taxes (only 10% of the revenue will come from the rich). Let Sequestration force spending cut. When the debt limit discussions start, declare that the President has 452 billion in new revenue for 2013 and each coming year, all he needs to do in find another 700 billion to cut. Maybe he can go back and look at the 2008 budget.

This poor sick, dysfunctional nation is rotting from its core.

The only thing that I don´t like is cutting the Defense budget. Defense has already been cut to the bone for the last 20yrs or so that it cannot effectively defend our country. If anything, it needs to be built up just like Regan did.

Beyond that, I don´t really care if a lot of federal "employees" get burned. As a former federal employee, I can personally testify to the ineptness and outright laziness of a large percentage of federal employees. They just love the pay and perks and retirement bennies that go with it. So, cut away. Most people won´t feel much pain anyway.

Watch for a deal around 2 a.m. Monday morning Dec 31.

#16, we support the military too, but I think they could probably take a 20% cut and still have too much money. Remember, zero based budgeting? There is tremendous waste in all government departments, and defense is no different.

Sequestration is a start. The House should cut budgets for all unconstitutional expenses, like health and environment. They should not touch the only legitimate expenditure - that is defence. The issue is not that taxes are too low, rather it is that spending is catastrophically high. If these numb nut politicians do understand this, then Americans are doomed.

Sequestration is the jewel obama has brought his foreign friends. That "never gonna happen" remark presaged the real prize behind this sham negotiation of angels on a pinhead.

We cannot keep sheltering ourselves from the cost of our new nation of men which is much more expensive in all ways than a nation of God´s laws. That is why failing to fix the looming "fiscal cliff" will ultimately be for the best.

The sequestration is a small step in the right direction. I´m not sure there are any real cuts anyway. Probably just reductions in future increases. If our economy is that dependent of government spending, then this process should have started decades ago.

If the MSM were actual slaves, and Obama owned them, how would they be acting any differently? He could tell them to "report" that Republicans are the actual spawn of satan or that Mao was history´s greatest humanitarian, and they would do so. Slaves.

If Congress is only going to work the week before the year end, they need their budget cut to 1/52 of its present amount instead of getting raises this past week compliments of the Spender-in-Chief!

Actually if only four people are needed, they can cut it again down to reflect a staff of four!
