Long-Term Fiscal Deficits
May Bring Dangerous
Flood Of Inflation

Investor´s Business Daily, by Alejandro A. Chafuen and Daniel Bunn

Original Article

There is some dispute on who was the first person to come up with one of the most popular forecasts of all time: "après moi le deluge," or, "after me the flood." Was it Madame de Pompadour or Louis XV? We sometimes use the term in economics to criticize the attitude of those who focus only on the short term. (Snip) Those who focus on the longer term and outside Washington and New York focus more on fiscal deficits and the potential floods that they might carry. Inflationary floods have been effective tools to destroy savings and weaken the rule of law.

Comments:
After the fiscal cliff and the regulatory cliff and the social security cliff, get ready for the monetary cliff.

"...may..."?!?!?! The only way Obama has to mitigate the enormous debt is to inflate the way out of it.
Remember Lenins comment, he was going to destroy the middle class is by grinding them between the two stones of taxation and inflation.

I wonder if the Republicans could wage a Dim-like PR campaign about Obama´s "War on Savings", which is exactly what is going on. For example, a capital gains tax + inflation = confiscation of assets; ie, the asset doesn´t appreciate in real terms but it still gets taxed.

Actually, a cliff-induced recession would help to arrest it. Blocking any more increases in the debt ceiling and any more CRs - forcing Reid to pass the budgets "sequestered" on his desk - would also suppress inflationary forces. Dittos a tightened Fed policy. We all hated what Paul Volker did in the early 80´s, but it arrested the Carter hyper-inflation and facilitated two decades of prosperity as a result.

For what it´s worth, as far as I´m concerned, we went off the "fiscal cliff" cliff long ago. The more I hear the words, "fiscal cliff," the more I´m tempted to jump off a cliff, myself. Good thing I live in Manhattan, where we don´t have any cliffs.

Well, I´ve made my peace with the place we once called America- The United States thereof. Well, we started going over this cliff in the last two years of Bush- nothing has happened to make it avoidable in the last six years. Few people realize how much- more than a trillion of our tax dollars went to Europe to shore their failing socialist system - directly from the Bush WH- before he left- in May alone 800 billion was gone! The international money conglomerate simply reached into the US treasury and helped itself- just as the bankers did here- It´s more than a disgrace- it is criminal and not one thing we can do now to stop it. We´ve been walking but, essentially, eviscerated as a nation for a long time.

Last week, the online dating site OkCupid switched up its homepage for Mozilla Firefox users. Upon opening the site, a message appeared encouraging members to curb their use of Firefox because the company´s new CEO, Brendan Eich, allegedly opposes equality for gay couples—specifically, he donated $1000 to the campaign for the anti-gay Proposition 8 in 2008. "We´ve devoted the last ten years to bringing people—all people—together," the message read. "If individuals like Mr. Eich had their way, then roughly 8% of the relationships we´ve worked so hard to bring about would be illegal." The company´s action went viral, and within

Intolerance: The left hounded a CEO from his job over a 2008 donation in favor of a California measure opposing gay marriage. So much for free speech and job performance. This is a descent into mob tyranny and mediocrity. The dirty work of the left was achieved after Brendan Eich, recently appointed CEO of Mozilla, a software company based in Silicon Valley, was forced out of the company he helped found, all to feed the maw of political correctness. Eich´s "crime" had nothing to do with his job performance, let alone the inclusive work atmosphere he fostered at Mozilla.

The powerful businessman has a family connection to the Obama campaign and the current US Ambassador in London, Matthew Barzun. Barzun was appointed as US Ambassador by President Obama last year. The former CNET exec is a longtime activist in the Democratic party, and was a prominent fund-raiser for the 2008 Obama campaign, organizing mass events. Saatchi’s nephew, Edward Saatchi, also worked on the 2008 Obama campaign as a manager and founded NationalField, a social network to allow campaign staff to share information.

That same man attended February’s state dinner in honor of French President Francois Hollande. He was seated with his girlfriend at a table adjacent to President Barack Obama, who is likely unaware that, according to federal agents, his guest once interacted with members of four of New York City’s five organized crime families. Democrats are facing a senior problem that could get even worse this year. The party has traditionally had trouble with older voters, losing the group aged 65 and over by 21 points in 2010 — when Republicans picked up 63 seats — and by 12 points in the 2012 presidential race. Seniors are the GOP’s most reliable voting bloc in midterm years, turning out in higher numbers than Democratic base voters. A recent Gallup poll showed seniors have become even more Republican over the last two decades; in 2013, 48 percent considered themselves Republican. That spells trouble for Democrats, who are already facing

LONDON - Peaches Geldof, the wild-child second daughter of concert organizer Bob Geldof who worked as a model, a television presenter and a fashion writer and filled the pages of British tabloids with her late-night antics, has died at age 25. There was no immediate word on the cause of her death at her home in Wrotham, Kent, southeast England. Her father said in a statement Monday: "Peaches has died. We are beyond pain." How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable? We loved her and will cherish her forever."
