Obama says Congress really needs to
do something about the fiscal cliff

Investor´s Business Daily, by Andrew Malcolm

Hello Everybody. For the past couple months, I’ve been working with people in both parties — with the help of business leaders and ordinary Americans — to come together around a plan to grow the economy and shrink our deficits. It’s a balanced plan that protects the middle class, cuts spending in a responsible way and asks the wealthiest to pay a little more. I’ll keep working with anybody who’s serious about getting a comprehensive plan like this done. [Snip] But we’re now at the point where the law says that every American’s tax rates are going up.

As soon as the Dems come up with significant spending cuts that actually MEAN something, the Pubbies will go along. My fear is that the coward Republicans will go along anyway on anything. Serious cuts to say, defund the EPA, do away with Homeland Security and ATF, and then I awoke and taxes were sky high, spending was sky high and all was right in DC. s/o

It´s not just him. Obama is not the problem. He is a symptom of the problem. The problem is all the people who voted for him. Who believe him. Who think he knows what he is doing, that he is honest, that he is sincere when he claims to be above politics. The problem is American universities, which are crawling and infested with anti-American Leftists like Obama. The problem is the mass media, including the news and entertainment sectors, also riddled with Left wing partisan ideology. And of course the Democratic party, which is currently in the grip of Left wingers opposed to almost every single traditional American value.

There are tens of millions of adults who actually think Obama is on the right track and that the policies he and his Leftist pals are pushing will be good for the country. They really and truly believe this, and nothing, absolutely nothing anybody can say or do will change their minds. They are beyond listening to arguments and other viewpoints.

They are going to have to see and experience for themselves what happens.

The best thing is to go over the cliff and stay there. This country is in serious jeopardy as the number of those not paying any Federal income tax at all approaches 50%, while we are building a permanent unemployed class with benefits seemingly that are approaching infinity and disability claims are the new, early, early retirement plans.

I really do not want to pay more taxes but I prefer a system that more evenly takes from all of us rather than makes of us a nation of envy rather than aspiration.

While the political rherotic soars nobody seems to notice that fiscal year 2013, which started October 1, 2013 the borrowing makes the excesses of the past few years seem paltry.

For the first time the Social Security system has paid out more than it took in by $47B, putting it in the red. This only happened because Social Security revenues was foolishly cut by more than 20% for the past few years.

The Democrat strategy is to build a permanent voting class that pays absoulutely no taxes whatsoever but can be counted on to reliability vote for greater and greater taxes for those who have to support them. The Republicans, seemingly the inept, stupid party keep falling victim to this strategy.

So one more chance, let the sequestration on cuts go into effect, let the tax rates go up, stop permanent unemployment compensation, restore Social Security revenue and cut more spending or we won´t have to worry about falling off the clift, we will drop of Mt. Everest.

In meetings in college and from then on, he was the guy who said little, contributed nothing, just sat there and soaked up what everyone else said.

In the Illinois State Sentate he voted Present. He only presented bills for vote that the Jones guy (powerhouse whose name I forget) took from the poor senator(s) who did all the work and handed to Obie to give him a PR boost.

In the U. S. Senate he voted Present. Or in ways that were counter to the best interests of the citizens of the United States.

The story continues. He is a cypher.

Obama needs to do something about the wasteful spending that brought us to the edge of the cliff. His Gravy Train Committee must be the only people in Washington who actually work because the train is getting longer and moving faster. The Republicans were stupid enough to get caught in this no-win situation that is now called a cliff, a choice between raising taxes on everybody or raising taxes on the rich. Either way, it´s a forced tax increase with no spending cuts, exactly what Obama wanted.

For many years whenever the president nears any crowd, a Secret Service agent walks ahead along the rope line ordering everyone to keep hands out of their pockets where agents can see them. That´s less of a problem these days. Because the hands of most everyone in such locations are holding cellphones to take photos of the nearby celebrity. The American media endure a soiled reputation in the United States these days. Rightly so too often. Many of its members failed their sentry duty during the run-up to the 2008 presidential elections, and oftentimes since covering only selectively positive parts of Barack Obama´s reign of error. Today´s column reminds us there is media and then there is media. Anja Niedringhaus was a member of the other media. A photojournalist for the Associated Press, she covered conflict for 20-plus years from the Balkans and Libya to Kuwait and Afghanistan. She´s dead now.

Hi, I’m U.S. Senator Tim Scott from the great state of South Carolina. As we all know, the most important issue facing our nation today is job creation. Unfortunately, it’s been that way for the last six years. But instead of tackling the causes of unemployment and underemployment, too many politicians are focused only on the effects and on making political points.

Hi, everybody. Today, our economy is growing and our businesses are consistently generating new jobs. But decades-long trends still threaten the middle class. While those at the top are doing better than ever, too many Americans are working harder than ever, but feel like they can’t get ahead. That’s why the budget I sent Congress earlier this year is built on the idea of opportunity for all.

One of the most powerful tools politicians have at their disposal is self-deprecation, the skill of making gentle fun of themselves in public, enough to get a laugh and show a humble human side. But not enough to feed critics. Ronald Reagan was the modern master of that. The Obama administration today will tout impressive enrollment numbers for ObamaCare with the confident precision that can only come from the knowledge that no one else is counting. No one else can count the numbers. Because the Obama administration controls access to all the numbers. It´s probably a coincidence, but that is exactly the way votes are counted by the Chicago Democratic machine. And if the Obama crowd is strutting for the media over enrollment numbers, Americans aren´t hearing more about his growing list of foreign policy embarrassments.

A caveat right off the bat: RAND’s estimate only runs through March 28 whereas the actual deadline for signing up was March 31st. Given the crush of traffic on Healthcare.gov in late March, many more people could have signed up over those last three days than were captured by these numbers. How does the Republican Party establishment choose its presidential candidate? Typically, constitutionalists accuse their establishment rivals of being moderate, risk-averse, stubborn old fools who lack faith in conservative principles. This is a soothing interpretation, as it begins from the hypothesis that the contest between conservatives and the GOP elite is a family feud. But there is another hypothesis -- less soothing, but, at least from an outsider´s bird´s-eye view, more reconcilable with the facts. This hypothesis is that America has reached a stage of progressive soft despotism in which the only important family feud in national politics is between the fundamentally

My first published column was in a local paper opposing the Equal Rights Amendment for the same reasons that Phyllis Schlafly, a conservative lawyer, campaigned on. As ambiguously written, the ERA, would eliminate the men-only draft requirement, repeal protective laws like sexual assault and eliminate the tendency for mothers to obtain custody over their children in divorce cases. Ironically, one of the arguments that helped sink the amendment from ratification was the fear that single-sex bathrooms would no longer be permitted. In addition, opponents of the amendment also warned that it would lead to abortion on demand and same-sex marriages.
