| Remember your high school civics, when your teacher explained the process for passing federal legislation in Washington? First the Speaker of the House goes to ask permission to pass proposed legislation from the Emperor in the White House. If the Speaker does not get the Emperor’s approval before trying to pass a bill, then he is just wasting everyone’s time. Further, if the Senate does not agree with what the House has passed, the Senate Majority Leader can just say the magic incantation, “Dead on Arrival,” and the Speaker of the House skips town. Wait — that’s not what the Constitution says.

According the Dingy Harry,it´s Boehner that´s running a dictatorship in the House when all offers have been summarily rejected out of hand by Reid and Obama.Apparently they´re going to get their tax increase with zero cuts in social spending which is really breaking the country´s back.
The shock of Obama getting re-elected still hasn´t sunk in with a lot of people,including myself.The worse people in this country put Obama back in office which makes it even more unfathomable.

Thank you, Mr. Ferrara. My husband has been saying this for months. It is called strategy. What in the heck is wrong with the Republican leadership? They can´t seem to make even the most basic argument. I am beginning to believe they don´t want to avoid the disaster facing us because any competent leader would have the sense to put the onus on Reid for not doing his job. Furthermore, Boehner must point out that the Republicans have sent several bills to the Senate which have died at the hands of Reid. The Republican leadership is weak and seemingly won´t even take advantage of pertinent arguments when they are there for the making. If this is not incompetency, what is it?

And now the last of them is gone. Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, and Pope John Paul II—three who won the Cold War and, it isn´t too much to say, saved the West (at least for a while!)—are no longer with us. Their examples remain. They knew what they believed but also knew they had to justify their beliefs, and that one could adjust prudently to circumstances without yielding on principle. They stood firm when in power, and they took risks to get there, challenging the conventional wisdom and the respective establishments of their nations or institutions.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church.
