Fiscal Cliff Diving.
American Spectator, by Peter Ferrara

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 12/29/2012 5:19:57 AM

Remember your high school civics, when your teacher explained the process for passing federal legislation in Washington? First the Speaker of the House goes to ask permission to pass proposed legislation from the Emperor in the White House. If the Speaker does not get the Emperor’s approval before trying to pass a bill, then he is just wasting everyone’s time. Further, if the Senate does not agree with what the House has passed, the Senate Majority Leader can just say the magic incantation, “Dead on Arrival,” and the Speaker of the House skips town. Wait — that’s not what the Constitution says.

According the Dingy Harry,it´s Boehner that´s running a dictatorship in the House when all offers have been summarily rejected out of hand by Reid and Obama.Apparently they´re going to get their tax increase with zero cuts in social spending which is really breaking the country´s back.

The shock of Obama getting re-elected still hasn´t sunk in with a lot of people, including myself. The worse people in this country put Obama back in office which makes it even more unfathomable.

Thank you, Mr. Ferrara. My husband has been saying this for months. It is called strategy. What in the heck is wrong with the Republican leadership? They can´t seem to make even the most basic argument. I am beginning to believe they don´t want to avoid the disaster facing us because any competent leader would have the sense to put the onus on Reid for not doing his job. Furthermore, Boehner must point out that the Republicans have sent several bills to the Senate which have died at the hands of Reid. The Republican leadership is weak and seemingly won´t even take advantage of pertinent arguments when they are there for the making. If this is not incompetency, what is it?

Purity or Strategy: The
Debate We Need To Have

Last week, there was one of those mommy-and-daddy-are-fighting moments on Fox News as two powerhouse conservatives debated one of the most important issues facing the right. In one corner, was the dagger-sharp and stunningly beautiful and did I mention beautiful Ann Coulter. In the other corner, was the valiant, good-hearted and, you know, perfectly presentable in his own way Sean Hannity. No one can doubt either the patriotism or the fearlessness of these two. You may sometimes disagree with one or the other, that’s fine, but it seems undeniable that both have the good of the country first and foremost

After narrow escapes from the military, law enforcement and rivals over 13 years on the run, Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman is back in Mexican custody. Now, what is likely to be a lengthy and complicated legal process to decide which country gets to try him first will begin. In Mexico, Guzman is likely to face a host of charges related to his role as the head of the Sinaloa Cartel, the country´s most powerful drug organization and a key player in the yearslong violence that has claimed tens of thousands of lives since 2006. Grand juries in at least seven U.S. federal

Ukraine´s acting interior minister announced Monday that an arrest warrant had been issued for that country´s president, Viktor Yanukovych. In a statement on his official Facebook page, Arsen Avakhov wrote that Yanukovych and several other officials were wanted on charges of "mass killing of civilians" in violence that engulfed Ukraine´s capital city, Kiev, earlier this week. At least 82 people, most of them protesters, were killed in clashes with members of the police and security forces. Some of the dead were shot by snipers in strategic positions overlooking the main protest camp in Kiev´s Independence Square. Calls are mounting in Ukraine to

WASHINGTON – U.S. prosecutors plan to seek the extradition of Mexico’s most wanted man, drug cartel kingpin Joaquin “Shorty” Guzman, to face trial in the United States after he was captured in Mexico. Robert Nardoza, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s office in Brooklyn, said on Sunday his office would request Guzman’s extradition to face a variety of charges. Guzman, caught on Saturday in Mexico with help from U.S. security forces, had long run Mexico’s infamous Sinaloa Cartel. His capture marks a major victory in the fight against drug gangs in Mexico. It was not immediately clear whether Mexico would

Nearly a full day after Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych departed his country’s capital, Kiev, leaving it to the protesters who have called for his removal for three months and the parliament that voted to do just that Saturday, no one seems to know where he is. On Saturday, ousted Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych told an interviewer he would stay in the country and reverse the “coup d’etat” that had occurred. But that evening he boarded a jet in Donetsk, a city in the Russophone eastern part of the country, and tried to flee across the border. Oleh Slobodyan of the State

OVERLAND PARK — U.S. Senate candidate Milton Wolf posted a collection of gruesome X-ray images of gunshot fatalities and medical injuries to his Facebook page and participated in online commentary layered with macabre jokes and descriptions of carnage. Wolf, a Johnson County radiologist anchoring a campaign for the Republican nomination with calls for federal heath care reform, said in an interview the medical images were legally uploaded to public social media sites and other online venues for educational purposes. They also served, he said, to demonstrate evil lurking in the world. However, Wolf and others viewing these Facebook postings relentlessly poked fun

So wrote William Wordsworth about the commencement of the French Revolution. His words, no doubt, are echoed by many in Kiev today as they contemplate the sudden and shocking success of their revolution. President Viktor Yanukovych has been chased from power. His opulent palaces are now open to the public to see the extent of his enrichment at public expense. His leading political opponent, Yulia Tymoshenko, has been freed from prison. One of her allies, parliament speaker Oleksandr Turchynov, has assumed the powers of the president and a snap election has been called to elect a permanent successor. Remarkably enough there

HOUSTON — It’s the epic GOP primary that wasn’t. Tea party activists hoped to oust Texas Sen. John Cornyn this year in an early-March contest that could have burnished their credibility heading into the midterms. Instead, Cornyn’s best-known challenger, Rep. Steve Stockman, has gone missing on the campaign trail, dogged by unflattering stories about his past and his ethics. It’s a disappointment for many national political watchers who had pulled out the popcorn for this race. Stockman has a penchant for making inflammatory statements — one of his bumper stickers read: “If babies had guns they wouldn’t be aborted.” In December, he

Conservatives have had it up to here (hand to top of forehead) with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.). Having barely recovered from the Cruz-induced shutdown and the calamitous backlash against Republicans, the GOP had to endure another episode of Cruzian grandstanding and the post-grandstanding trash talk. Mona Charen of National Review (stocked with many Cruz admirers) writes that it is “particularly galling to see that rather than train his fire at Obama and the liberal machine that cocoons him, Cruz has become a one-man wrecking ball against Republicans.” At issue was his stunt on the debt limit in which he denied the

Something is seriously wrong with Michelle Obama. Pitching ObamaCare on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Mrs. Obama called young adults "knuckleheads." The first lady openly mocked the 18- to 29-year-olds who catapulted her husband into the White House in 2008 and 2012. Fallon: Because a lot of young people watch our show. Would you like to tell me - why would they...? Because a lot people don´t have the money to spend on this. The University of Notre Dame must provide birth control to employees and students after a federal appeals court ruled Friday, a move the school says will force it to violate its religious beliefs. In a blow to religious colleges and universities across the country, the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago denied Notre Dame´s request for an injunction to the ObamaCare birth control mandate that requires the school to provide coverage for contraception. The injunction would have given Notre Dame a temporary reprieve from the birth control mandate, as the Roman Catholic school challenges the rule in court.

The Obama administration warned Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday not to react too aggressively to the fast-moving developments in Ukraine, where pro-Western demonstrators forced the nation’s Moscow-backed president from power over the weekend. National Security Adviser Susan E.
