Imagine you are working for a company that is going bankrupt, but everyone you work with and your bosses are getting pay raises. Seem absurd? Not if you work for the failing federal government, because President Obama has decreed that Vice President Biden, members of Congress, and most federal workers are getting raises for 2013. As the U.S. government is losing its luster on the bond market and as the fiscal cliff looms, President Obama issued an executive order to give everyone raises. Obama has generously bestowed a $6,379 per year raise on Grampa Joe;
Out of his own pocket I hope - that seems to be a very high handed sort of "look at me, I´m Mr.Wonderful" gesture without asking our approval - because we all know in reality where this pay raise will come from, and I for one think all involved should have their pay slashed for putting us all in such jeopardy.
This pay increase is, of course, necessary to cover any higher costs the federal worker(s) may have to pay as a result of any new rules, regulations or taxes coming their way due to, among the following, but not limited to, Obamacare - of which they are not subject to, but must still pay higher deductibles, necessarily skyrocketing energy prices and/or basic increases in the standard cost(s)of living. State, county and city municipalities may follow suit if they can sneak increases into their budgets without the private work force noticing.
As you may have guessed, govn workers have no economic cycle. When times are good, they wish to partake in the increased private sector largesse through tax increases. When times are bad, govn wishes to not feel your pain and tax increases are necessary to stave off any possible lowering of their standard of living.
You can listen to Obama´s words, BUT trust his behavior. He doesn´t give a tinker´s dam about the debt, the deficit, your tax dollars, the Country and he shows it every chance he gets. He is giving us the middle finger every day. He will spend us into oblivion.
Neither party´s politicians have any desire to rein in government spending. Most of them have wives and kids all working in Washington D.C. You needn´t be smart or necessary, just well-connected. This will continue until we demand it stop.
Since when does the Squatter have the right to give anyone a raise? That´s a job for The House and the Senate. When are these pipsqueaks going to stand up for America? They´re going to let hussein get away with this with an EO?
Keep your powder dry. Our liberties become fewer and fewer every day.
It just keeps coming and it is not going to stop for at least 2 years - and it will go 4 if the Republicans never get their act together, which right now seems likely. We all knew that if this socialist freak got re-elected there would be hell to pay and it is just beginning.
Let´s call it what it is: Bribery, treason, taxation without representation (if this is taxpayer money, he allotted it without it going through our elected officials), Lets call them all what they are: Criminals waiting arrest and judgement by their citizen peers.
The need for the Second Amendment as a curb on tyrannical government was never more clear - and I am thinking we will have to put it to use very soon.
He just returned from a 4 million dollar vacation, on our dime. I can´t afford a $400 vacation. He just gave Congress and many federal workers a raise, while we all are facing tax increases. This is insanity. This is not the America I used to know. I want our country back.
Why the h does Biden deserve any pay increase? Oh I know it´s an advance for the perceived upcoming performance in the gun query/panel. ha ha ha ha. The Feds will give him a cut $ from every gun they get as well. They´ll make a statue of him out of the melted down steel and put it in Times Square, right before the Chinese army arrives.
I´m still waiting for the republicans to start a petition against insane Hussain to have him impeached, highlighting his multi-page list of high crimes and misdemeanors against this nation, the security team on the way to arrest him. If not, they will be lumped into the lot of them facing charges for sabotaging and betraying this nation. Do something or go down with them.
Those who can--do. Those who can´t-watch their hard earned money be given to jerks who could not earn a living doing anything but stealing from the taxpayers. Zip golfs while we all get burned. And I can´t believe any of us continue to use the term unbelievable where this group is concerned--4 years proved they do it as a matter of course-it should no longer be unbelievable to anyone.
This is what Dims do. I work for local government, overrun by Democrats, and management underpays us compared to local wage rates, while paying themselves 3 to 4 times as much. They put us off the past two years by contracting a salary study by consultants, and now the study is done. The results... they gave themselves a 10 percent pay raise! We are still waiting. We are not allowed to speak to our representatives or the media, only HR and management, and they are the ones doing it. Total corruption. But of course, to hear them talk, they are for "the little guys."

There you go chumps, the king has spoken. Ok Congress, where are you, you lame ass jokes.
Did the ´fiscal cliff´ pass during the night, while we were sleeping? It appears so!

Hmmm. Was that all members of congress and all employees of the hood? Or just those who happened to be demRats? All others (pubbies) received only a tax increase; no raise in salary) How wonderful to be King. Now shussh....are WTP awaiting the ´Queen´s speech on swearing in day? Dick Tater... aka Mr. Potato Head Disgusting slime balls
Nothing will get fixed until all government employees are restricted to the same programs that the general population is subject to...Social Security instead of their gold-plated lifetime retirement programs, Medicare/Obamacare instead of their super-duper Cadillac-care, etc. If they want to get any such enhanced programs, they can pay for 100% of it out of their own pay checks. No more taxpayer funded benefit programs, period.
You want to see Obamacare get dumped? Make Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and the rest of these elitist crooks stand in line with the rest of us.
I guess they think they´re doing such a great job - the financial cliff is in one´s imagination. I almost forgot, they´ve been so forth coming about who gave the order to "stand down" in Libya. sarcasm off. What a circus!!
This is what unfettered power looks like in the US. A grossly negligent and corrupt press just looks on.
The next two years as someone said are going to be hell. But, just imagine the Republicans (as lame as they are) losing the House in 2014. And this is what Barry and his Communist cohorts in the government are setting up right before our eyes. The damage this man and an unchecked Democrat Congress will do just cannot be imagined.
And this is what our country voted for. Dear God help us in our time of anguish.
For the first time in a long time I dread the coming of the New Year.
A chocolatier who has been forced to shut up shop has left a frank goodbye note in his store´s front window detailing how the costs of running the business ate up all of his takings.(Snip) Mr Dunn, 52, listed the outgoings for his ´busy and popular´ shop, which showed that his £208,000-a-year taking were being swallowed up by £52,000 in yearly rent and business rates, £41,600 in VAT and taxes, £41,600 in supplies and £67,600 on wages. He said: ´Before long all that will be left on the British high street
A Syrian religious group have banned croissants because they symbolise western oppression. A Sharia committee issued a fatwa, or religious ruling, declaring croissants ‘haram’, which means they are forbidden in Islamic law. The group, which operates in a rebel-held area of Aleppo, said that they have ‘colonial’ significance. They claim that the pastry’s crescent shape celebrates European victory over Muslims, reported Al Arabiya. Islamis sharia committees have declared several strict fatwas in rebel-controlled areas of Syria.
WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel warned on Wednesday that if across-the-board budget cuts were not lifted, the United States would have to reduce its global security objectives by trading away the size of its armed forces or its edge in technology as the Pentagon seeks to remain solvent. In a dire assessment of the financial challenges facing the military, Mr. Hagel said the political stalemate between the White House and Congress over a comprehensive deal for taxes and spending has required the Defense Department to plan for a range of cuts, since a deal to lift
[Video] Ouch. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie turned down an offer by Sen. Rand Paul to join him for a beer and bury the hatchet in their ongoing -- and very public -- feud. "I´m running for re-election in New Jersey. I don´t really have time for that at the moment," Christie said in an interview on a local radio station. The New Jersey governor said if he finds himself in Washington, "I´ll certainly look him up." But he added: "I don´t suspect I´ll be there anytime soon. I´ve got work to do here."
“Well, I’m not going to catalogue...”-- White House Press Secretary Jay Carney refusing to define what he and President Obama meant when talking about “phony scandals.” Carney, though, intimated that the targeting of political groups by the IRS and the doctored White House talking points on the Islamist raid on a U.S. outpost in Benghazi, Libya were “phony.” We now know that IRS honchos shared information about conservative groups with other agencies, using the vast data in the IRS databanks to help other federal officials make cases against conservatives. Now we need to know how much, how often and
A progressive group will coordinate with liberal activists to disrupt Republican town halls during the August recess, when lawmakers will face questions about Obamacare and comprehensive immigration reform. Americans United for Change, run by a former Democratic National Committee communications head, plans to send activists to Republican town halls in swing states and even red states to target lawmakers like Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX). "This is a new approach. The theory in the past has been to be stealth about the effort to confront members at town halls--but sometimes it´s been too stealth, and we haven’t generated enough activity,"
IRS chief Daniel Werfel says he wants to keep his health care plan, not switch to Obamacare: [Video] "Mr. Werfel, last week your employees who are a member of the National Treasury Employee´s Union sent a form letter for union members to send in to ask they be exempt from the exchanges," a congressman asked. "Why are your employees trying to exempt themselves from the very law that you´re tasked to enforce?" "I don´t want to speak for the NTEU, but I´ll offer a perspective as a federal employee myself and a federal employee at the IRS,"
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) slammed Attorney General Eric Holder after an investigation by Goodlatte´s committee reported discrepancies between Holder´s congressional testimony and decision to approve a search warrant for emails from Fox News Correspondent James Rosen. "I find the lack of leadership at the Department of Justice extremely alarming," Goodlatte said in a statement on Wednesday. "The deceptive and misleading testimony of Attorney General Holder is unfortunately just the most recent example in a long list of scandals that have plagued the Department." The report released by the Judiciary Committee on Wednesday said Holder´s testimony included
WASHINGTON — Former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. has filed his final House financial disclosure report more than six months late, a filing that sheds little light on how he will pay a $750,000 forfeiture for looting his campaign treasury. Jackson, 48, is awaiting sentencing on Aug. 14. Federal prosecutors want him behind bars for four years. His wife, Sandi Jackson, 49, a former Chicago alderman, will be sentenced the same day for a federal tax violation. The government has urged that she spend 18 months in prison. In his plea deal, Jackson agreed to pay the $750,000 forfeiture and
A new Republican poll shows Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) in a potentially tough spot for reelection, with more than half of respondents open to reelecting a new senator next year. The survey, from GOP firm Magellan Strategies, reveals 51 percent of respondents say it´s "time to give a new person a chance" in office. Thirty-nine percent agreed that Landrieu has performed her job well enough to "deserve to be reelected." Though those numbers are bad news for Landrieu, they´re not a clear indication half of Louisiana voters will vote to oust her.
MORVEN, Ga. — Small-town police departments across the country have been gobbling up tons of equipment discarded by a downsizing military — bicycles, bed sheets, bowling pins, French horns, dog collars, even a colonoscopy machine — regardless of whether the items are needed or will ever be used. In the tiny farming community of Morven, Ga., the police chief has grabbed three boats, scuba gear, rescue rafts and a couple of dozen life preservers. The town´s deepest body of water: an ankle-deep creek. An Associated Press investigation of the Defense Department program, originally aimed at helping local law enforcement
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan- Secretary of State John Kerry met Thursday with the Pakistan´s new prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, whose election marked the first peaceful transfer of power from one civilian government to another. The Obama administration is seeking to rebalance the tumultuous relationship with the nuclear-armed Pakistan in an effort to work together on counterterrorism, to start peace talks with the Taliban as the U.S. winds down its involvement in neighboring Afghanistan, and to coordinate on other issues of strategic interest. "The common interests far exceed and far outweigh any differences," Kerry said during a joint press conference
Mark Levin, who hosts one of America´s top radio talk shows and is considered by supporters to be the people´s pundit on the Constitution, is rallying his 8.5 million-strong audience to demand an historic convention of state governments to halt the "oppressive power" of the federal government. The author of two New York Times bestsellers on the threats to the Constitution, Levin hopes his latest, "The Liberty Amendments," out mid-August, will spark the state lawmakers to tap a rarely used Constitutional provision to institute measures that would brake President Obama´s use of executive orders, bar thousand-page laws and
The former commander of special operations in Northern Africa told a closed-door briefing today that he was largely detached from events the night of the Benghazi attack as he was traveling at the time. The testimony of Col. George H. Bristol, USMC, Former Commander, Joint Special Operations Task Force-Trans Sahara, Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command Africa, had been eagerly anticipated by members of Congress. Originally, lawmakers had been told by the Defense Department that he had retired — the actual date is Aug. 1, an “administrative error” according to the Pentagon — and that they didn’t have
FORNEY, Texas - George Zimmerman, the former Florida neighborhood watch leader cleared of all charges in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, was pulled over for speeding in North Texas on Sunday, CBS DFW reports. According to the station, Zimmerman was armed when officers pulled him over on Highway 80 in Forney, east of Dallas. (Snip) The officer reportedly did not recognize Zimmerman, who was driving a Honda pickup. Zimmerman told the officer he was armed and was then told to put the weapon in his glove compartment, according to the station.
Arizona Sen. John McCain was the Republican Party´s 2008 presidential nominee and he still wants the keys to the Oval Office. But he is beginning to sound more like a fan of likely 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. "She´s a rock star," he said in a newly released interview. "She has, maybe not glamour, but certainly the aura of someone widely regarded throughout the world," he added in a reference to her work as secretary of State. McCain, reportedly trying to win back his reputation as a GOP maverick, was asked by the New Republic
President Obama has been rolling up his sleeves campaigning across the country delivering a surreal stump speech message supposedly aimed at the middle class: big government works, Obamacare is manna from heaven, the wave of recent scandals are “phony” figments of the imagination, and all economic problems are the fault of the Republicans. Conveniently, he leaves out the bankruptcy of Detroit, a city run by his own party for more than half a century. His message is so stale and unconvincing, that even The New York Times and Washington Post have noticed. Both papers, usually loyal to Obama, remarked that
Gotta figure her lead would be even bigger without Joe Miller in the field here. Her nomination for the taking? Alaska should be a top tier pick up opportunity for Senate Republicans next year…but their top choice of a candidate is Sarah Palin. 36% of GOP primary voters in the state say they’d like Palin to be their standard bearer against Mark Begich to 26% for Mead Treadwell, 15% for Dan Sullivan, and 12% for Joe Miller.
Embattled Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner and an attorney in the Federal Election Commission’s general counsel’s office appear to have twice colluded to influence the record before the FEC’s vote in the case of a conservative non-profit organization, according to e-mails unearthed by the House Ways and Means Committee and obtained exclusively by National Review Online. The correspondence suggests the discrimination of conservative groups extended beyond the IRS and into the FEC, where an attorney from the agency’s enforcement division in at least one case sought and received tax information about the status of a conservative group,
Sen. John McCain — a Democrat? There was confusion Wednesday after the Arizona Republican mistakenly strolled into President Obama’s meeting with Senate Democrats at the Capitol. The room full of Democrats — who happened to be meeting in the same room where the Senate GOP usually holds their weekly policy luncheons — erupted in applause and laughter as the former Republican presidential candidate made his entrance. As McCain, 76, walked out of the Dem-filled space, reporters pressed him as to why he stepped foot in the room.
In an interview on National Public Radio (NPR), House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said her new agenda for women will give mothers access to day care so they can “earn without carrying the burden of child care.” During the interview, aired on Weekend Edition Sunday, Pelosi spoke about her newly announced agenda, which is on her website, and is titled, “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds: An Economic Agenda for Women and Families,” a plan that includes universal pre-school and access to day care for working women, and an increase in the minimum wage.
In preparation for the release of Oscar-bait film The Butler, Forest Whitaker, Oprah Winfrey, and director Lee Daniels (Precious) sat down with Parade magazine. The film chronicles a butler (Whitaker) who works in the White House through seven administrations. Winfrey plays the butler’s wife. In the interview, Winfrey explained her sadness that so few Americans know about the history of the civil rights movement: “They don’t know diddly-squat. Diddly-squat.” She then said of the historic use of the n-word, “I always think of the millions of people who heard that as their last
In her first speech since taking over the Environmental Protection Agency, Gina McCarthy came out swinging Tuesday and promised to ramp up the aggressive climate change agenda laid out by President Obama.(snip)“Can we stop talking about environmental regulations killing jobs? Please, at least for today,” she said during remarks at Harvard Law School. “We need to cut carbon pollution to grow jobs. We need to cut carbon pollution to strengthen the economy. Let’s talk about it positively. Let’s approach this as an opportunity of a lifetime. There are too many lifetimes at stake.”
Serial sexter Anthony Weiner’s wife partly blamed herself last year when her horndog husband confessed to her that he was at it again. Friends and family told People magazine that Huma Abedin was kicking herself at the time for bailing out of couples counseling and focusing more on their newborn baby boy. But, thanks to a new round of joint therapy that continues even now, the couple was able to put the relapse behind them. “They really became a unit, and she feels much closer to Anthony now,” a relative told the magazine. That’s a long way from how Abedin
