WATCH: Video shows suspect
fleeing the scene of fatal Queens
subway shove

New York Post, by Larry Celona

A madwoman last night pushed a stranger onto subway tracks in Queens, where he was killed by a train, police and witnesses said. It was the second such nightmare in less than a month. The unsuspecting victim was waiting at the elevated 40th Street station of the 7 line in Sunnyside at 8 p.m. “This lady, she just pushed the guy on the tracks. Then she ran away. I was screaming and closing my eyes,” said witness Tenzing Tegeng, 21, one of five people on the platform.

#1: I can´t believe there were so few people there and the guy was still standing close enough to the tracks to get shoved on. Not that the loony is his fault, we can thank the ACLU for her, but standing away from the tracks is the best way to protect yourself from this kind of attack.

Oh, the insane in NYC will find other ways to attack you, but this one has the easiest defense of all.

I wouldn´t even go down in the subway years ago. Weirdos everywhere and people actually lived in side tunnels. Taxis are usually dirty and the drivers snotty, but you hold on and you get there safely.

This has happened ever since subways existed. Fortunately, it doesn´t happen that often, given the millions of people who ride the subways every day. As a very small child in the 1950s, I was aware that you stood well back from the edge of the platform lest a crazy person come along and shove you onto the tracks. It has nothing to do with God being taken out of the public square.

But however infrequently it happens, it´s always horrific.

Essentially a supposed nut case woman used a subway train as a tool to murder a man. You have to wonder why Mayor Bloomberg did not come right out and call for subway trains to be banned, as he did with guns after another nut case in Connecticut used a gun as a tool to murder a lot of little kids?

Subways are killing arenas. They should be banned, or at least finger print and photo, and require a license for everyone that uses one.

ALBANY — New York, whose status as the most populous state has long been ceded, will soon fall behind Florida into fourth place, a long-anticipated drop that is rife with symbolism and that could carry potentially serious economic consequences in coming years. When the Census Bureau releases its latest population estimates on Monday, demographers expect that Florida and New York will be narrowly separated — perhaps by as little as a few thousand people — and that if Florida does not pass New York this time, it almost certainly will do so in 2014. The census figures underscore immigration trends, as foreign-born migrants continue to

The Oscar-winning film director Charles Ferguson has cancelled his CNN documentary on Hillary Clinton after what he described as a private campaign against the film by prominent Democrats. Ferguson said he had decided to pull the plug after being met with a wall of silence from more than a hundred people who refused to be interviewed for the documentary. He claimed that aides to the former secretary of state put pressure on CNN behind the scenes, and made clear that Clinton would only co-operate "over my dead body". He also blamed a public campaign by Republicans, who claimed the film would be

When Ted Sarandos put out the word that Netflix would begin producing original shows, he was swamped with story pitches that everyone else in Hollywood clearly had taken a pass on — including some scripts marked with coffee stains, smudged fingerprints and other telltale signs of rejection. That all changed in 2011 after Netflix bought the political thriller "House of Cards" from "The Social Network" and "Fight Club" director David Fincher.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa joined Megyn Kelly Thursday night to react to the uproar over him cutting off Elijah Cummings‘ mic during a contentious IRS hearing, saying that accusations he was “racist” are just “beneath response.” Issa suggested Cummings’ outburst was a “pre-staged event,” but Kelly asked, “Who cares? So, Lois Lerner still won´t talk about her role in the illegal targeting and harassment by the IRS of conservative and Tea Party groups seeking 501(c)(4) tax exemptions. Lerner appeared for a second time Wednesday before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform and claimed her Fifth Amendment right not to incriminate herself. It isn´t hard to figure out why Lerner´s lips are sealed. First, she knows the House of Representatives can cite her for contempt of Congress, but Attorney General Eric Holder would decide whether she is prosecuted on that charge. Via Matt Lewis, here’s Maverick once again demonstrating that “cordial relationship” in politico-speak means “two people who can’t publicly admit to hating each other but obviously do.” And it’s a cheap shot. Cruz’s point yesterday at CPAC was that Dole, McCain, and Romney lost because they weren’t conservative enough. That’s not because they’re gutless — he said specifically that they were “good” and “decent” men — but because they’re not committed, full-throated ideologues, even less so when they’re fighting for purple states in a national election. We can debate whether that’s true but there’s nothing offensive in raising the subject.

What’s been said of confession — that it is good for one’s soul but bad for one’s reputation — can also be true of testifying to Congress, so Lois Lerner has chosen to stay silent. Hers, however, is an eloquent silence. The most intrusive and potentially most punitive federal agency has been politicized; the IRS has become an appendage of Barack Obama’s party. Furthermore, congruent with exhortations from some congressional Democrats, it is intensifying its efforts to suffocate groups critical of progressives, by delaying what once was the swift, routine granting of tax-exempt status. So, the IRS, far from repenting

One of the most seismic changes in American politics over the last decade has been the emergence of a sharp generational split among the electorate. The Democratic Party owes its success in the last two presidential elections almost entirely to overwhelming support among the very young, which has overcome continued conservatism among older voters. The Pew Research Institute has dominated the field of exploring the ideological cleavages among different generations. And its latest survey shows again how the liberalism of the youngest voting cohort, millennials, remains firm, and likely to continue to recast the electorate. A few charts from the survey
