| The decision of a newspaper in New York’s Westchester County to publish an interactive map that allowed readers to discover the names and addresses of owners of legal guns is generally being debated as one about whether the Gannett-owned Journal News showed good judgment. It didn’t, but the problem goes a lot deeper than whether or not a newspaper ought to publicize information that is legally available to the public in this manner. The controversy goes to the heart of the entire discussion about guns in this country. No matter what those behind this stunt say

This isn´t something up for debate. The second amendment was put there due to the justifiable fears of a tyrannical government - which we have now. The LPs (Libtards/Progtards) pushing to disarm the citizenry are domestic enemies of the constitution and traitorous enemies of this Republic. Every one of them needs a fair 3 min trial and execution - we used to execute traitors, why has it fallen out of favor?

....and therefore a Laurel and Hardy handshake to the blogger who published the names, addresses and phone numbers of the paper`s editor`s and other management staff. In fact, too bad they were not plastered on a freeway billboard or perhaps write them on the moon where everybody can see them.

Agree with #1. What debate?? The very fact that you feel there is room for debate here is a non-starter. Help from our legal experts here. The Constitution is amendable but the Bill of Rights is not. Is that right?

We are military and we were transferred to the first state we have ever lived which is reliably red. My youngest was telling me how, while she misses her friends from the blue area we lived in, she really likes this place better. WHat is the big difference- civility. No one, not even others of other religions, make fun of her Christianity. I noticed another big difference- no deer problem- yes, there are deer, but no problem unlike the blue states. But then all these wonderful civil people have guns. They are very popular here. Oh, and we have less accidental shootings than in a blue area we lived in.

#6 any of the first ten amendments can be repealed - or they can just be ignored if you get the right people running things. Today we completely ignore the 4th and 10th Amendments. The 3rd has been ignored since 1862. The 1st has been ignored since the 1970´s and is explicitly overruled by Obamacare´s prohibition of Catholics exercising their ancient religious duty to care for the sick.

I´m going to sugggest that we take what they have intended for evil and use it to our good. I don´t imagine that most of us discuss firearms with casual friends and aquaintances - not because we are ashamed or embarrassed, but because we don´t always know how they will react. Those who live in areas where these lists have been published may now have an advantage.
If you find out that the nice elderly couple across the street have the same taste as you, or the young couple down the road, whose kids always play with your kids, don´t think the second amendment is just about hunting, consider starting up a conversation with them that might be a little awkward at first, but could lead to a strengthening of your community. Maybe there are people in your church or theatre group that you would never have guessed at. Find each other. Build the relationships. Know whom you can depend on.
Though it´s not what they had in mind, they have given us a tool that we can use to make ouselves stronger. And it might be very important for us to use it in such a time as this.

OPEN LETTER TO GUN-CONFISCATION ADVOCATES:
Will you give up your right to own a gun for protection when you move into your trendy "diverse" neighborhood?
Will you forever refuse to hire a security guard for your family´s protection?
Will you patronize a bank that has no security guard in a neighborhood not as nice as your own?
Will you board an airplane that has not run travelers through a gun-detector as you watch the turbaned men pass through unchecked? (oops, is that profiling?)
Will you send your children to a "gun-free" school in a neighborhood that´s got a history of allowing delinquents to roam free?
Will you insist everyone give up their guns, including yourself, in a neighborhood where there have been armed B&E´s?
Just ask liberals if gun ownership is always bad. Then ask them under what circumstances they might want a gun for themselves or their family. Bet you get, "If there were no guns, there would be no murders", the most easily-disproved statement possible.

Inre: #6
The entire Constitution, including the Bill of Rights is subject to ammendment. The "Bill of Roghts" is itself merely the first 10 Ammendments that were agreed after passage of the original document.
Tobin is absolutely correct in the column; The Left does not accept the SCOTUS´ Heller decision as legitimate. They don´t want to "control" guns. They want to "remove" them as a means to control people.
And the American people know this- which is why gun sales continue at an unprecedented pace since Obama took office.

There is no room for debate. The Second Amendment was included to allow us to protect ourselves from this type of politician. No permit required, other than the Constitution.
This is what results when you allow the children of Cain to drive God out of every aspect of our lives.
Before you get my legal and unregistered gun I´ll pry your gun from your cold, dead hand, then I will have more to fight you with.
p.s. bring extra ammunition, I will make good use of it.

Thnks. #s 8 & 11. Here is my reasoning. All the ten amendments of the Bill of Rights are in form of an admonition to various branches of government not to interfere or try to limit or negate natural, god given rights possessed by the People. Going back to Jefferson´s comment that the god that gave us life also gave us liberty at the same time. The Amendments themselves grant no rights, so there is nothing to take away. Repealing or ignoring any of the provisions of the First Ten is granting government the power to deny that which is not given by them. The entire Constitutional construct and the Republic comes apart if that is tried.

There is a reason why the Founders set up the Bill of Rights in the order it is. There is not the topic of the fifth Amendment that occurs first place- the right not to self-incriminate. It is not the Tenth amendment topic of the sovreignity of the states in 1st position. No it is the Freedoms first and then the 2nd -which are the guns to back that Freedom list up. The founders were and are smart. They knew that every Bill of Rights issue follows from the first two.

The problem is that the left does not revere the Constitution except for the parts they can twist into a pretzel to achieve their goals. However, just think where we would be if the Federalists had prevailed and the Bill of Rights had not been included in the Constitution. The left (and most of the ruling class) refuse to accept the tenets of the Second Amendment. It was written ONLY to buffer the people from a future federal government such as we have now.

There is no discussion. Leftwingers want our guns, we would be crazy to give them up. You can;t have a discussion about anything with leftists. They lie about everything, especially the motives an character of their enemies - the people who value freedom. America would be better off if we split the country, and the two countries could then establish diplomatic relations. The leftwingers would then have professional liars to handle their end of the "discussion". Our side of the discussion would be "We have you surrounded, and we have all your guns".

This time it didn´t work.

Democratic Party officials believe that Kevin Strouse is exactly the kind of candidate who can help them retake the House next year. He’s a smart, young former Army Ranger — good qualities for any aspiring politician. But what party leaders really like is that Strouse doesn’t have particularly strong views on the country’s hottest issues. Immigration? Tax policy? “Certainly I have a lot of research to do,” Strouse acknowledged in an interview Thursday as he announced his candidacy in a suburban Philadelphia House district. Strouse’s candidacy reflects an emerging

Sponsored by the Poynter journalism center and funded by the McCormick Foundation of Chicago, we gathered in a city that witnessed 506 homicides last year. The idea, I take it

Carbon emissions in the US were at their lowest level in 2012 since 1994, according to figures released by the US Energy Information Administration. We did it without carbon trading scams, the EPA making carbon dioxide a poison, or obeying the dictates of the Kyoto climate Treaty. We did it partly because of decreased economic activity as a result of the Obama recovery-that-isn’t, but mostly because of good old fashioned market forces; competition between natural gas and coal: Energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in 2012 were the lowest in the United States since 1994

But guess what happens when protesters step on others’ rights in full view of parents? Tufts has one of the most active campus fossil-fuel divestment groups. Lately these protesters have been infiltrating orientation sessions and campus tours for prospective students, mostly high school juniors traveling with their parents. It is amazing just how wrong economists were in their predictions for the number of jobs that were to be created in March. The “consensus” figure was 200,000 — a far cry from the actual number created which was 88,000. Totally “unexpected,” as usual. In one way, you can’t blame them. After a better than average gain in February of 236,000 (revised upward this month to 268,000), along with some positive numbers in housing and consumer spending, there were no doubt many analysts who began breathing a sigh of relief and believing that the long-awaited jobs recovery was upon us.

This shouldn´t surprise Lowery. When the liberals hang onto the neck of a cause, they don´t let go. They have ignored murders, rapes, wars, nuclear proliferation, and everything wrong with the world to focus in on their little area -- the horror of carbon emissions. You´d think liberals would have learned from their earlier panic about overpopulation

President Obama will propose a budget next week that embraces a risky strategy of courting Republicans for a grand bargain on the debt while angering Democratic allies with cuts to the nation’s entitlement programs. White House officials said Friday that Obama’s budget would cut Medicare and Social Security and ask for less tax revenue than he has previously sought. The budget, to be released Wednesday, will fully incorporate the offer Obama made to House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) during December’s “fiscal cliff” talks — which included $1.8 trillion in deficit reduction through spending cuts and tax increases.

President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that
