Matthews raises
profile during campaign

Associated Press, by David Bauder

Original Article

NEW YORK -- To his boss, Chris Matthews has become a statesman. His critics probably have other words. The veteran MSNBC host raised his profile as much as any member of the television commentariat during the presidential campaign. His 5 p.m. "Hardball" show has seen viewership jump by 24 percent this year from 2011, 17 percent for the rerun two hours later. Matthews symbolized MSNBC´s growing comfort in being a liberal alternative to Fox News Channel. He engaged in an uncomfortable on-air confrontation with Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, seemed nearly apoplectic when President Barack Obama flubbed his
Headline split by staff.

Comments:
Chris Matthews has become a statesman?? Uhh, being a statesman usually refers to someone with respect and integrity. Those are not even considered where Matthews is concerned! Good. Grief. These morons are completely delusional.

He still doesn´t come close to Fox´s ratings. Now that the election is over he´ll return to nothingness.

Just read that Chelsea Clinton is a "pretend journalist" at NBC. So, Chris Matthew must be a pretend statesman at MSNBC.

He has a nervous breakdown every time he opens his mouth. The station has to resort to promoting him, I guess. He´s such a loser. Spittle out of the corners of his mouth when he talks about Republicans! Yuck.

In his error, David Bauder assumes anyone gives a rabid rat´s rump about an off-the-wall has-been political hack like Matthews. Matthews, poor idiot, thinks he is Cronkite. I think so, too.

`I´ll never forget this idiots mouth foaming over Valerie Plame or the firing of states attorneys by Bush. This guy tried to manufacture a crisis out of each.Compare that to his complete disinterest in anything Obama. He constantly labelling people racists who don´t agree with Obama´s 3rd world political style.
All these kooky leftists think Obama has a holy grail answer for society´s problems, although all he does is spend money and vacation at the end of the day. I simply can´t stomach this clown any more as he´s gone way off the reservation to fit with his fellow nut jobs on the station.

I really thought MSNBC did the best job covering the Iraq invasion. They stood behind the troops. Somewhere around 2006 these people made a huge left turn and are sutck with the Huff and Kos low info crowd as their main unhinged viewers.

This whle crowd of people think Obama "cutting his vacation short" is nothing but an act of pure heroism when we´re in this position because of his hard left wing ideology and foot dragging.

There´s no such thing as being a counterbalance to Fox because Fox gives an objective take on the news most of the time. They have way more leftists on the payroll, while I don´t know of any conservatives on PSNBC because they´re too insecure in their positions to allow some sunlight in.
If you never saw the clip of Matthews badgering Michelle Malkin and then throwing her off the show, you don´t know what your missing.Totally unglued.

Who is this woman, get her out of here.

"being passionate" appears to mean unrestrained by logic or compassion for one´s adversary. Mathews doesn´t debate with anyone.
He only shouts them down.
In so doing, he trains little prog fascists how to win without thinking.

I almost choked when I saw they put Chris Matthews and the word "statesman" in the same sentence! Gak!!! You HAVE to be kidding!! Oh and MSNBC is NOT a liberal alternative to anything. They are NOT liberal at all. They are leftists!! When are we going to stop letting the left get away with using the word "liberal" when it is only being used to mislead the public. Leftists are NOT liberal in any real sense of the word. They are controlling tyrants who want to create a totalitarian nightmare where they (the elite) are in charge and everyone else is a slave to the state. That is NOT liberal. Liberal (in the classic sense of the word) has to do with freedom, liberty, equality under the law...everything that our Founders and most of today´s conservatives stand for. Let´s STOP helping the left by using that misleading word and call these cretins what they really are...leftists, socialists, communists, tyrants, control-freaks, evil...

Five months into his second term, allies and enemies are as confounded as ever about who President Obama really is. Is he the dyed-in-the-wool liberal that his biggest supporters and critics suggest? Or is he a pragmatic, even cynical, politician who cares more for his popularity than taking risks for his ideological goals or living up to his rhetoric? Even in the short period since his reelection, Obama has provided evidence to support conflicting interpretations. His efforts to pass immigration reform, the unsuccessful push for stricter gun controls and tax hikes on high earners buttress the case for Obama-as-ideologue.

Iran is preparing to send 4,000 troops in to Syria to support Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the wake of America´s announcement it will be providing ´military aid´ to the country´s Muslim rebels. President Barack Obama made the pledge earlier this week after the U.S. claimed it found ´conclusive evidence´ Assad´s regime has used chemical weapons against the rebel forces--which includes the most extreme Sunni Islamists--and has called for Britain and France to back the move. While Britain hasn´t made a guarantee either way as yet, more than 350 Royal Marines are being sent to Jordan

Washington - The Supreme Court says states cannot require would-be voters to prove they are U.S. citizens before using a federal registration system designed to make signing up easier. The justices voted 7-2 to throw out Arizona´s voter-approved requirement that prospective voters document their U.S. citizenship in order to use a registration form produced under the federal "Motor Voter" voter registration law. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said that the 1993 National Voter Registration Act, which doesn´t require such documentation, trumps Arizona´s Proposition 200 passed in 2004.
