charge of intoxication manslaughter

Los Angeles Times, by Houston Mitchell

Dallas Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent has been indicted on one count of intoxication manslaughter for his role in the car accident that claimed the life of teammate Jerry Brown on Dec. 8. Police in Irving, Texas, say Brent was speeding when his vehicle struck a curb and flipped, killing Brown, who was a passenger in the car. Brent´s blood-alcohol limit was 0.18, more than twice the legal limit. Intoxication manslaughter carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. Brent could be eligible for probation. He is currently out of jail on $100,000 bond.

And, so this avoidable tragedy begins.

The willful consumtion of Intoxicants is an abomination against God. That the liberals have created an environment where liquor, drugs and fornication are readily available is sinful.
Brent sinned and he must accept responsibility for murder. That said, I´m sure he´s a friend of Barry´s and will walk away from this crime. Our current sharia justice system is hard wired to let anyone with money walk free. We are living in a completely communist state...run by Muslim extremists. God help us!

Hope 31 doesn´t drink anything with sugar or caffeine in it. Ixnay on the chocalatay, also. I like my intoxicants - in moderation and in a responsible way. I seem to remember liking some other stuff, also in my younger years. Seems to me that even Jesus drank some wine. Let´s not be casting so many stones - you´re bound to hit yourself and loved ones.

As far as Josh Brent - he´s going to be prosecuted, period. Pro football player, friend of obama (he´s not) or not. I´d bet he spends time in jail - you just can´t do what he did and not - unless you are a Ted Kennedy or have an OJ Simpson jury. But the worst punishment of all is that for every day of the rest of his life he will know that he killed his best friend by his stupidity. That´s one heavy burden to bear.

Seoul - North and South Korea traded fire across their disputed maritime border on Monday, with the South´s military saying it had responded to shells landing in its waters from a North live-fire drill. "Some of the shells fired by North Korea dropped in our area and our side responded with fire," a spokesman for the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff told AFP. There was no indication that either side was firing at any particular target. On South-Korea-controlled Baengnyeong island, close to the maritime boundary, officials said residents had been taken to shelters as a precaution. Hobie Alter, who shaped Southern California’s signature surf culture by pioneering the mass-produced foam surfboard and later popularized sailing by inventing a lightweight, high-performance catamaran, died Saturday at his home in Palm Desert. He was 80. The announcement of Alter’s death was posted on www.hobie.com, his company’s website. No cause was disclosed. A self-taught design innovator and entrepreneur whose “Hobie” brand earned him a fortune, Alter was nonetheless a reluctant businessman who eschewed suits for cutoffs and was guided by his imagination above all else. “I’m making money producing

Seoul - North Korea announced a live-fire drill Monday near its disputed maritime border with South Korea, further ratcheting up tensions a day after threatening a "new form" of nuclear test. There was a swift response from the South Korean military, with the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) warning of immediate retaliation if any ordinance is fired across the border. Elton John and his longtime partner David Furnish will tie the knot this spring,Furnish told the Las Vegas Journal Review. The couple have been together since 1993 and entered into a British civil partnership on the day it came into law in 2005. Their decision to take the next step comes just a few weeks after legislation passed in England to allow same-sex marriage. "We don´t feel the need to take an extra step legally. But since we´re committed for life, we feel it´s really important to take that step, and take advantage of that amazing change in legislation," Furnish said. "We all live by example." Paris - Anne Hidalgo, a Spanish-born Socialist, will be the first female mayor of Paris after an unexpectedly comfortable win in municipal elections on Sunday. Hidalgo, 54, had been expected to be run extremely close by her centre-right rival, former government minister Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, on a night when the Socialists took a beating from voters across the country because of the unpopularity of President Francois Hollande´s government. But Hidalgo emerged with 54.5 percent of second round votes in the capital, comfortably seeing off Kosciusko-Morizet´s challenge, according to exit polls. An old school feminist socialist,

Seoul, South Korea - North Korea threatened on Sunday to carry out a “new form” of nuclear test, a year after its third nuclear test raised military tensions on the divided Korean Peninsula and prompted the United Nations to tighten sanctions against the North. The North’s Foreign Ministry did not clarify what it meant by a “new form” in its statement, carried by the North’s official Korean Central News Agency. But Washington and its allies have long suspected the country of trying to make nuclear devices small and sophisticated enough to be delivered by intercontinental ballistic missiles it was also developing.

Washington - A simple test appears very good at ruling out heart attacks in people who go to emergency rooms with chest pain, a big public health issue and a huge worry for patients. A large study in Sweden found that the blood test plus the usual electrocardiogram of the heartbeat were 99 percent accurate at showing which patients could safely be sent home rather than be admitted for observation and more diagnostics. Of nearly 9,000 patients judged low risk by the blood test and with normal electrocardiograms, only 15 went on to suffer a heart attack in the next month, and not a single one died.

The Navy is considering a novel way to protect its fighter pilots: firing live shoulder-launched surface-to-air missiles at them to train them in evasive action and test aircraft missile warning systems. The shoulder-fired missiles in the hands of terrorists, criminal and enemy fighters pose a worldwide problem. Insurgents in Iraq during the war posted YouTube videos showing their deadly ability with the weapons against U.S. military helicopters. The Navy disclosed its intentions earlier this month in a little-noticed request for information. After a disastrous presidential campaign in 2012, can Texas Governor Rick Perry mount a credible bid for the White House in 2016? Texas Governor Rick Perry is currently on a media tour touting the theme that America is a great place for second chances, specifically second chances for Texas governors with national ambitions. Perry is trying to erase the memory of his disastrous 2012 GOP presidential campaign which included “brain-farts” and “oops” debate moments with his folksy, charming, and uniquely American manner. Curious about Perry’s comeback strategy, I asked Texan and GOP presidential media guru, Mark McKinnon and he said,

A startling rift appeared Tuesday on the Supreme Court as the three female Justices came out swinging like Brunnhildes — women warriors — for what they erroneously labeled an “entitlement” to employer-provided contraceptives and morning-after pills. The Justices were hearing oral arguments in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., a case hyped by the Democratic Party as a test for women’s rights. Justices Kagan, Ginsberg, and Sotomayor sprang on Hobby Lobby’s attorney , interrupting his every sentence and pummeling him with questions taken right out of the Democratic Party’s “war on women” playbook. Obamacare supporters are taking a bit of a victory lap today after yesterday’s administration announcement that six million people have signed up for private plans under the law, equaling the revised projection put out by the Congressional Budget Office after the botched launch of the exchanges last October. It’s a weak cause for celebration, given that success, according to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, was originally "at least" seven million people getting covered under the law by the end of March. If Betsey McCaughey is correct (and I bet she is, because she has not only read the entire ObamaCare bill, she has written a book about it), Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan publicly humiliated herself during the oral arguments on the Hobby Lobby case, revealing that she either did not read the law, or failed to comprehend it if she did so. Writing in the New York Sun, McCaughey lays out what is wrong with the Justice’s declaration about Obamacare: she asserted that the statute itself mandates provision of birth control. Not one word in the Affordable Care Act guarantees health plans will cover birth control products.
