Conservatives Must Not Seek All Low-Info Voters

| It sticks in my craw that conservatives/Republicans are leaning toward, in essence, becoming immoral, stupid, and un-American to win low information voters. Folks, I cannot do that. Meet Semi. I have more respect for Semi, a stray cat which my wife befriended, than I do for the low-life parasites who voted for Obama because he promised to give them stuff via funds confiscated from others. Semi has the good sense to value her freedom. A neighbor caught Semi and got her inoculated and spayed. But for some reason, Semi prefers frequenting our yard.

We need to turn a percentage of low info voters into mo info voters. You know, flip 2-3% of them. We cannot try to appeal to them as they are, we must eductate a small number of them. Once we do, they´ll never go back.

Low information is part but not all of the problem in the electorate. Wrong information is also part - but the biggest part seems to be in values and expectations. Throughout history, all the way back to the ancient Greeks who invented democracy, this has been the way of things. Democracies degenerate, anarchy results, and tyranny arises to restore order. There is no reason to think America will be any different. The only thing that might arrest and reverse the decline is a major national catastrophe, which would bring with it the possibility of restoring a sense of reality to the huddled, hedonic masses. Given the effeteness and ideological fantasy life of our ruling liberal establishment, this is not unlikely. People like Obama -there are lots of them; they infest our universities and reign over the media and pop culture- dwell in a fantasy bubble and reject reality when it doesn´t suit their tastes. This can go on for a while, thanks to the accumulated moral, material and military capital of the past. It cannot go on forever. Reality always has the last word.

Mr. Marcus is a delight; not angry, straightforward and completely honest. He does not beat around the bush. Those who are hell bent, and I emphasize the hell bent, on demonizing anyone who has too much, because envy and covetedness drives them ,are who disgust Mr. Marcus. We are tired of the pc crowd and their euphemisms. Say it and let the truth be heard because most of us are disgusted by the Obama rationale and it is time to shout it out and let the race baiters have the hissy fit they always have, anyway.

Self-seeking, intellectually lazy, purposefully ignorant, government-dependent individual who votes Democratic every time ... in other words, a moron.

A very hard hitting but truthful article. I always enjoy reading Mr. Marcus´ articles. He has a way of getting right to the truth and doesn´t pull any punches. And he is capable of giving as well as taking.
But, the solid truth is that as a nation, we are headed down the path toward tyranny. And with Obozo at the head, it won´t take us much longer to be there. After all, we are nearly there now. And when we reach that point is when I forecast another armed revolution. And guess who owns the largest percentage of weapons? Frankly, I can´t wait for it to happen now. I´ll be one of the first to join up.

Bitteer, angry, and a bit vicious- that´s how I see the article. We can not change human nature and the Democrats have capitalized majestically on it while we conservatives have fretted and whined (IMHO!). The easy road has always been a politician´s dream path to the golden ring. It is why corruptions and con-artistry thrives, even to this day. People are not stupid. But, they are greedy and selfish by nature- isn´t that the whole reason for instruction from the Bible? To damp down our human tendencies toward the base side of life and encourage us to rise above that to achieve the greater planes of being human? People who voted for Øbama certainly are voting their base instinct level. And that is the place every Tyrant goes first, promising the fantasy of Utopia and vengeance against those who may or may not have gained on their misery. Tax the rich, kill the middle class- it´s been a popular theme since the French Revolution. Hitler played it well from the miserable post WWI German audience- It´s a disaster that always awaits in the darker side of humankind- and then we learn from the resulting lakes of blood and try to do better next time- at least, until there is a next time of would-be tyrants- like Democrat enabled Øbama!

The GOP may be dead from leaning too far left, but even that is moot in light of the vote fraud seen in November. I have no doubt it was outright theft and that we had enough honest votes to easily win.
The indifference to this fraud among our own pundits - as they count angels on a pin head - is the true indication of a rotting republic.
In our charter, every single vote cast represents human sovereignty. To not be outraged at the wholesale theft of that most precious of civic rights is to be part of that rot.
Lend your time, money or energy to True-The-Vote. It is bi-partisan and IS the tip of the spear in this fight.

Great read. He tells it like it is. And the author is not bitter as someone suggested. Rather, he is astonished, disappointed, worried and disgusted that a majority of Americans (a slim one but a majority just the same) could re-elect a president as destructive and polarizing as Zero. A president that has taken this country and now with unfettered power pretty much, will continue to take this country down a very bad path. As someone said our country might be able to survive Obama, but the country will never survive the voters that elected and then re-elected this disaster.

Ha, adorable kitty. I´ve done the same thing for several strays (gotten them spayed or neutered and vaccinated) on my own dime.
As with Marcus´s wife, I tried to coax them into becoming indoor cats. Sometimes you can do that, especially if the kitten is very young; but if they´ve gotten a taste of the independent life, it´s hard to keep them inside if you don´t want to have wailing banshees clawing at your curtains and attempting to throw themselves through your glass windows.
I´m not sure little "Semi" is a good example of the opposite of the low-information voter. But I did enjoy the story.

MSNBC will label "Low-Info Voters" as racist. Although a large portion of these voters are black, it´s not racist. It´s descriptive.
This morning I was contemplating the movie "Back to the Future II". In it the time travelers go back in time to the point that time began to veer away from its correct course. It was decided that it was when the villain Biff received a copy of a sports almanac from his future self. He used the book to bet on sports events that brought him great wealth, power and influence. As a result, his world barely resembled the world that should have been. Greed, pornography, drugs and violence were rampant.
I asked myself that if I had this power, which event would I try to go back and correct. Which event allowed a future fraud like Obama to eventually be elected? I´m sure we all have an idea. Mine was the end of WWII and the beginning of the Cold War. We allowed Communists to enter the country as refugees. Some plotted to undermine our way of life from inside. They struck gold when they went for the youth through a new phenomenon... Rock and Roll. It worked.

The Semi metaphor is a good one. A "big tent" political party is akin to herding stray cats, indeed.
Better to decide which constituents to bring into the tent, educate and motivate them to elect your candidates, and then represent their interests well. That cannot be done if your constituents have conflicts of interests. Thus the inherent problem with the "big tent" concept.
The interests of middle-class conservatives conflict with those of low-info welfare class voters and with those of Wall Street investors and global corporatists alike.
That is why they need their own tent.

#18 Agree. Republicans need to focus on a number of votes (for instance 80 million) it will take for them to win decisively and then execute a plan to get those votes. This should be started right now by implementing a framework and a blue print for all fifty states.

One of the things that attracted me to conservatism was its willingness to challenge liberal orthodoxies. Permit me to challenge another. I once inherited a small grey kitten. At the time, I was told that he would become unmanageable and violent if left uncastrated. I decided to wait and see. As I write this ten years later, my unaltered companion perches on my stomach. He is the gentlest cat I have ever known, and the only one who has never--not even once--struck at a human being with his claws. The other reasons to castrate domestic cats do not apply to him. It works for us.

Richard Pollack at the Washington Examiner reports on a painless way to handle sequester costs -- cut out the unnecessary duplicative federal programs: Duplicative drug abuse and treatment services are strewn over 76 federal programs. Housing services are spread across 20 different agencies. Renewable energy projects go through 23 federal agencies and 130 sub-agencies. Even federal catfish inspections are done by three different agencies. These are only a few of 162 examples identified by the U.S. Government Accountability Office, a congressional watchdog agency, of fragmented, duplicative federal programs and services.

WASHINGTON- Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel says he wants U.S. military law changed so senior commanders can´t overturn courts-martial verdicts in major crimes such as rape. Hagel said the Pentagon´s top lawyers would prepare legislation for Congress that would strip commanders´ power to toss out convictions, "except for certain minor offenses that would not ordinarily warrant trial by court-martial." Convicted defendants still would be able to appeal their cases. But in a move berated by advocacy groups for military sexual-assault victims, Hagel also said he would recommend commanders retain the power to alter courts-martial sentences,

If presidential politics ever involved time travel, President Obama might be in a little trouble. If an election between Ronald Reagan and Barack Obama were held today, 58% would vote for Reagan over Obama, according to a survey of 1,000 Americans age 18 and older conducted by Kelton Research for the National Geographic Channel. Though when the field is narrowed to people ages 18-34 -- those either too young to have known Reagan as president or too young to remember much -- the gap shrinks to 51% in favor of Reagan.

With all due respect to Mother Jones´s conversation-leaker-in-chief David Corn, the recordings published today of a conversation between Sen. Mitch McConnell and some consultants disparaging Ashley Judd is not news. It´s the sausage being made. We´ve got full background here, but the toplines are this: Corn got hold of a conversation apparently recorded during a presentation by consultants to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell´s reelection campaign. The consultants were opposition researchers, hired by the campaign to ferret out damaging information about actress Ashley Judd, who at one point considered running against McConnell.

Obama was speaking yesterday at the University of Hartford when police, stationed along the president’s route to Bradley International Airport, heard noises coming from a nearby wooded area around 5:50 p.m., said Bloomfield police Capt.
