President Obama´s schedule
for Wednesday

United Press International, by Staff

Original Article

HONOLULU- U.S. President Barack Obama heads back to Washington from Hawaii Wednesday, cutting his Christmas vacation short. First lady Michelle Obama and his daughters will not accompany him when he boards Air Force One at Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu for a red-eye flight. The president is returning to Washington, hoping to reach agreement with Congress to avert the so-called "fiscal cliff," the combination of automatic tax increases and spending cuts scheduled to kick in Jan. 1.

Short? Yes he´s a saint and a martyr. But wasn´t the problem there before he left? And doesn´t this give Michelle an excuse to luxuriate in the islands a while longer and take Air Force Chew thus doubling the cost of the transportation?

Obama will surely return to Hawaii on Friday evening, possibly with Reggie Love, who Mooch does not allow aboard AF1 when she is aboard. BO will fly back to WH next Wednesday with Reggie if a cliff deal has been reached with a mentally exhausted Boehner. With a smirking expression at his "I won, again" announcement that he has saved the last several hundred middle class families known to exist, he will return to Hawaii for an extended vacation.

Before heading off for golf, Obama will announce that Joe Biden will head a study on how to save those remaining middle class families from extinction.

What a waste of (our) money! It only takes a few million to fly AF1 to Hawaii, and then the Obamas always end up using multiple aircraft for all their vacations (including one for Bo). One would think that he, and all of Congress, for that matter, would have stayed in DC to try to resolve this crisis. Better yet, they could/should have done something months ago, but getting reelected was more important. They have no regard for we taxpayers/business people/families, insofar as our need to try to do intelligent financial, tax and estate planning. I wish they would do something intelligent for a change.

Obama hosts a roundtable—I am told keyed towards business executives—at the Chicago Cut Steakhouse downtown where about 25 folks are expected; the tab is up to $32,400. The Obama roundtable is hosted by Mesirow Financial Chairman and CEO Richard Price. Later, Obama is the headliner at a dinner for about 55—donating up to $10,000--at the Lincoln Park home of Craig Freedman and Grace Tsao-Wu, who is an Obama major donor and fund-raiser. Here is a seeming paradox of American life. One the one hand, there is a broad social-science correlation between religious faith and various social goods — health and happiness, upward mobility, social trust, charitable work and civic participation. Yet at the same time, some of the most religious areas of the country — the Bible Belt, the deepest South — struggle mightily with poverty, poor health, political corruption and social disarray. Part of this paradox can be resolved by looking at nonreligious variables like race. But part of it reflects an important fact about religion in America: The social goods

Boston firefighters gathered Thursday at Logan Airport to meet the family of a fallen comrade in an emotional show of respect and gratitude. Massachusetts Port Authority Fire Department members waited silently outside the gate of a flight escorting Lt. Edward Walsh’s mother. He was one of two firefighters who died earlier in the week while trying to tame a blaze in the city’s Back Bay neighborhood. The picture was taken by Max Widmer as he waited to board his plane and the firemen waited for the JetBlue flight that carried her to Beantown free of charge, according to WCVB.

AUSTIN - The dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Monument at the Texas Capitol on Saturday highlighted the pain, pride and solidarity of those who served in an unpopular conflict. "They fought, they bled, all too often they died for their country. When they came home, there wasn´t any parades. There weren´t any picnics. Instead they were treated with indifference or, even worse, with outright scorn," said Gov. Rick Perry. Perry said the bronze sculpture of an infantry patrol, unveiled before a throng of veterans, will "stand as a declaration that in Texas, we understand how blessed we are to have

After a disastrous presidential campaign in 2012, can Texas Governor Rick Perry mount a credible bid for the White House in 2016? Texas Governor Rick Perry is currently on a media tour touting the theme that America is a great place for second chances, specifically second chances for Texas governors with national ambitions. As part of its plan to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, the Obama administration is targeting the dairy industry to reduce methane emissions in their operations. This comes despite falling methane emission levels across the economy since 1990. The White House has proposed cutting methane emissions from the dairy industry by 25 percent by 2020. Although U.S. agriculture only accounts for about 9 percent of the country’s greenhouse gas emissions, according to the Environmental Protection Agency, it makes up a sizeable portion of methane emissions — which is a very potent greenhouse gas. Justices Kagan, Ginsberg, and Sotomayor sprang on Hobby Lobby’s attorney , interrupting his every sentence and pummeling him with questions taken right out of the Democratic Party’s “war on women” playbook. With high school seniors and their families now deciding where to enroll for college next fall, they might want to take a gander at research showing the best -- and worst -- values for a degree. The shocker in a survey by PayScale, a research firm that focuses on compensation, is that there are schools where students would have been better off not attending. Why? The 20-year net return on their college investment amounts to a financial loss, even when financial aid is included. Taking the time to get and spend money on a degree, in short, means you might actually find yourself in a financial hole. The survey may add to parents' doubts about
