While President Obama spent his Christmas Eve afternoon golfing with friends, the first lady was hard at work helping children from across the country track Santa’s every move. Mrs. Obama took roughly 30 minutes out of her Hawaiian family vacation to answer calls from children asking where Santa was located as part of the annual NORAD Tracks Santa program run by the North American Aerospace Defense Command, according to a White House official. “Have you been a good boy this year?” Mrs. Obama asked Fischer from North Carolina. “Yes, ma’am” responded the polite 5-year-old,

And Santa´s trip is no more a fantasy than her husband´s own claim to legitimacy as President. She´s really into fictional accounts - it given the Wookie great wealth and power, plus the really great frequent vacations that are provided her at great expense to us.

Why are these people who, by their own admission, never celebrated Christmas before 2008 when they needed the photo op, still faking it? They no longer need worry about reelection, so why the pretense? Maybe they just enjoy mocking us.

Pippa Middleton explains the British pastime of cricket exactly how you think she would. “A batsman goes out and is then in until he gets out,” Middleton writes in her second "dispatch" for Vanity Fair. “This goes on until the last batsman is out, apart from one who is still in and therefore not out.” Middleton’s simply worded phrasing sounds a lot like the parody Twitter account @Pippatips that pokes fun at the writer’s obvious party themes in her book "Celebrate." A majority of Americans back so-called “stand your ground” laws, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released Friday, though their views differ sharply by race. Voters support “stand your ground,” which allows individuals to act in self-defense during a conflict without attempting to retreat, by 53 percent to 40 percent. But the results break down over racial divides: White voters back “stand your ground” by 57 percent to 37 percent while black voters are opposed 57 percent to 37 percent. “Stand your ground” laws have been in the spotlight in recent weeks in the wake of last month´s acquittal

A memo which was circulated within local government in Washington state, before being leaked to local TV station KOMO News, advised state workers that they should refrain from using such phrases in official business. According to the memo, the word ‘citizen’ is offensive to those Seattlelites who are residents in the city, but not US citizens. The phrase ‘brown bag’ is offensive for its having been used as a verb during racial segregation in the United States. When deciding whether or not a black person was light-skinned enough to enter a private residence, servants would ‘brown bag’ them:

The United States will temporarily shut down its embassies and consulates around the world Sunday, including those in Iraq, Afghanistan and Egypt, as a precautionary measure, the State Department said Thursday. State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf did not say how long the international installations would stay closed -- only that the decision was taken “out of an abundance of caution and care for our employees and others who may be visiting.” Sunday is a normal workday in many Arab and Middle Eastern countries. Embassies in Europe and Latin America would be shuttered that day anyway.

Climatologists at Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment have warned the likely rate of change over the next century will be at least 10 times quicker than any climate shift since the dinosaurs became extinct. If the trend continues at its current rapid pace, it will place significant stress on terrestrial ecosystems around the world, and many species will need to make behavioral, evolutionary or geographic adaptations to survive, they said.

If we learned anything about Barack Obama in his first term it is that when he starts repeating the same idea over and over, what´s on his mind is something else. The first term´s over-and-over subject was "the wealthiest 1%." Past some point, people wondered why he kept beating these half-dead horses. After the election, we knew. It was to propagandize the targeted voting base that would provide his 4% popular-vote margin of victory—very young voters and minorities. They believed. He won. KOMO-TV reports that the city´s Office of Civil Rights instructed city workers in a recent internal memo to avoid using the words because some may find them offensive. "Luckily, we´ve got options," Elliott Bronstein of the Office for Civil Rights wrote in the memo obtained by the station. "For ´citizens,´ how about ´residents?´"
