| Idaho Sen. Michael Crapo was arrested a charge of driving under the influence early today after he allegedly ran a red light in Alexandria, Va., police said. The Idaho Republican was arrested without incident after he failed a field sobriety test, Alexandria police spokesman Jody Donaldson told ABC News Radio. Crapo was released on a $1,000 bond, and has a court date scheduled for Jan. 4, 2013. Crapo released a statement apologizing for the incident. “I am deeply sorry for the actions that resulted in this circumstance,” Crapo said. “I made a mistake for which I apologize to my family,

Comments: I will withhold my usual glib remarks to just say that there should never be a reason for someone in "high office" to get a DUI. Crapo, A Republican Senator from Idaho, should have enough paid staff to get him around, especially "parties." Inexcusable.

I´m curious if ABC gave this much attention to Saint Teddy when he killed Mary Jo?
So far, I haven´t heard that Crapo killed anyone and then lied to authorities to cover it up....

As a fellow Mormon, I think I´m safe in saying this will end Mr. Crapo´s political career. Probably for the best... although he campaigns as a conservative, he seems to have become part of the big, corrupt political machine. (He´ll retire and continue as part of the machine, collecting a sweet pension courtesy of the good taxpayers, while simultaneously lobbying... the standard career path.)

And, pray tell, guess I missed the mug shot on Drudgereport and all the top of the hour FNC reporters announcing Sam Donaldson´s recent DUI? Sometimes, it really pays to be a Kennedy. When the Kennedys are too drunk to drive, the police just politely drive them home and the MFM say nothing more about it.

I took a cab home once and sure enough on the way home there was a police road block, but since it was a cab they just waved it past and I arrived home safely without incident. Shanghai & Hong Kong - China said it was mobilizing resources nationwide to combat a new strain of bird flu that has killed six people, as Japan and Hong Kong stepped up vigilance and the United States said it was closely monitoring the situation. All of the 14 reported infections from the H7N9 bird flu strain have been in eastern China and at least four of the six dead are in the financial hub of Shanghai, a city of 20 million people. The strain does not appear to be transmitted from human to human but authorities in Hong Kong raised a preliminary alert and said they were taking precautions at the airport.

In 2011, a little-known group called GOProud was a sponsor of the Conservative Political Action Conference, the annual marquee event for the right. President Obama´s biggest gaffe yesterday when speaking of California Attorney General Kamala Harris was not in flirtatiously complimenting her as "the best-looking attorney general," but in introducing an observation from the system of beauty into a forum that was about the system of power. What´s that, you say? Irin Carmon does a great job in Salon in laying out the bounds of propriety for when it´s appropriate to talk about a woman´s looks as a general matter. But I´ve long felt we lack a solid theoretical underpinning for easily discussing these issues, and why precisely it is that
