NRA chief: Enforce
the existing gun laws

Washington Times, by David Sherfinski

The National Rifle Association does not plan to support any new gun control measures in the wake of the shooting rampage in Newtown, Conn., the head of the organization said Sunday, arguing that the government should vigorously enforce laws already on the books and reiterating the group’s push for more armed guards in schools as part of the solution. Executive Vice President and CEO Wayne LaPierre, answering questions for the first time since the Dec. 14 shootings, said legislation to impose restrictions on clip sizes or bans on so-called assault weapons

Actually, most of the existing laws should be repealed as well; but maintaining the status quo is better than what the gun-grabbers want.

NRA representatives should go on ABC, NBC, PMSNBC and CNN and start publicly asking precisely WHY Barack Obama and Eric Holder were FORCING American firearms dealers to sell weapons to Mexican drug cartels, and WHY they are hiding behind "executive privilege" in refusing to answer questions, and WHY these media outlets have REFUSED to report on the story!

Obama REFUSES to address "Operation Fast & Furious." Let´s FORCE him to. If Wise King Barky wants to have a "national conversation" on gun control, let´s FORCE him to answer for his own administration´s actions!

More than three hundred people are DEAD because of Obama and Holder, almost TWELVE TIMES the number of dead in Sandy Hook, Connecticut....

WHY was Obama FORCING GUNS into the hands of Mexican drug cartels?

WHY is he hiding behind executive privilege?

WHY are these networks refusing to seek the TRUTH in this matter?

If the NRA is going to be persecuted for standing up for Second Amendment rights, Barack Obama and his Palace Guard in the MFM should be persecuted with the FACTS!

The gun laws aren´t aimed at criminals but average law abiding citizens. The worst shooting areas in the country all probably have assault weapons bans.

Just watch how many school districts go with LaPeirre´s advice rather than the gun grabbers.

To really figure out wy these mass shootings happen, they really need to dig into the background of the shooters. But they won´t because they want the gun to be a free standing criminal itself.

These last 3 shootings were done by weird looking people, that has to be a part of it.I don´t think it´s as hard to spot a loon as they make it out to be.

Almost all school shooters are on SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) a very powerful class of psychotropic drugs. The American Psychiatric Association keeps insisting it is the underlying condition and not the drug that is responsible. But the evidence to the contrary is becoming overwhelming. Misguided privacy laws prevent effective monitoring of patients. The MSM maintains a silence conspiracy because it will focus attention on something other than legal fire arms. Pathetic.

See, if the pro-regressive elites manage to outlaw everything, then everybody becomes a law-breaker. Just like that.

And of course law-breakers have to be - uh - corrected.

So, three hots and a cot await us all. Oh - and ´dependable´ medical care (for our homemade shiv wounds).

Those wacky elites! They´ll need special facilities for those of us who ... remember. Nurse! Time for her injection!

I´ve purposely stayed away from the Newtown story. I can´t bear the thought of those little children........

Anyway, the answer to someone like Lanza (?) not sure of the name-the shooter, is to allow certain designated teachers to carry guns. All must have attended training, both on the weapon they carry and with someone with the know-how to determine if they are responsible enough to be trusted with them. You don´t protect anyone by disarming. Simple as that.

The Second Amendment enshrines the God-given right to bear arms. It does not ´grant´ it.

Reply 12 - Posted by: lonestarm3, 12/24/2012 8:30:52 AM     (No. 9081645)

The truth is politically incorrect and so is difficult to get into the national debate about guns:

The last thing the anti-gun crowd - from the president on down - want is an end to mass shootings, especially in schools.

From their point of view, the deaths of a few, or a few dozen, kids every couple of years is a small price to pay for the chance effectively nullify the second amendment.

The left is forever telling us that this or piece of the constitution was a mistake - even that the whole thing is out of date in a modern world, or at least subject to creative interpretation as a "living, breathing document."

The founders did make one mistake, probably because they gave freedom´s heirs more credit than we deserve: They used the amendment process to incorporate an affirmation of the unalienable rights which are beyond the legitimate authority of any government - especially one based on individual freedom.

The inclusion of what we call the bill of rights was required for and a condition of ratification of the constitution and therefore the removal of any of them violates the contract and renders the whole document invalid.

The whole point of the progressive movement is to free the government from the restrictions of the constitution and thereby replace freedom with a socialist dictatorship.

To conflate two quotations from Marx and Soros, "The principal impediment to the attainment of world socialism is the unreasonable attitude of the average american citizen" - i.e., the average american believes that he or she - individually - has rights.

Just like we know why they don´t want Voter ID or to purge dead voters from the rolls, we also know why the want to render the 2nd Amendment meaningless. They want the tentacles of the federal government to continue spreading over the land unopposed. The only legal owners of firearms in their world will be the military, police and Democrat goons.

It really annoys me that people on our side have given up the argument the founders made that only an unarmed people can be an enslaved people. It´s all now about self defense and hunting. This is NOT what the founders intended.

The first reaction of government to these acts is to try and restrict the freedoms of law abiding citizens. The reaction to 9/11 is a great example withe new beast Department of Homeland Security and all the restrictions on air travel, etc. This is what government does and we need to be more vigilant than ever to their attempted power grabs.

President Obama kicked off the week in Connecticut with a rallying cry for new gun control measures hand-in-hand with Sandy Hook parents. This afternoon, Obama sat down in the Oval Office with Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel — who, with a military, civilian, and contractor work force on edge about their jobs, is tasked with unveiling what could be a punishing presidential budget for the Pentagon tomorrow. Over at the Senate tonight, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) filed cloture on the motion to proceed to the gun-control package, which means

President Obama will unveil his 2014 spending plan Wednesday, 65 days late and several trillion dollars short, by Republican standards, of effectively reining in the national debt. But the more relevant fact about the White House budget may be the yawning political void into which it is about to fall on Capitol Hill. Administration officials say their plan offers a path to compromise, a centrist course that avoids the extreme spending cuts of the House Republican budget as well as the $1 trillion tax hike endorsed last month by Senate Democrats. The president’s proposal contains the same set of policies

It seems very odd that President Obama has made gun control the signature issue of his second term, so far. He can’t possibly achieve any significant legislation; a few tweaks to the background check system, maybe, but there is no chance of getting any meaningful gun control through the House. The House Democrats aren’t even trying. So it also seems strange that all eyes are on the Senate, where Harry Reid will unveil some sort of gun legislation–no one knows what, exactly–on Thursday. The party’s left-wing base is lining up behind the bill, sight unseen.

In a poll conducted by PoliceOne, a majority of law enforcement personnel said universal background checks, "assault weapons" bans, and "high capacity" magazine bans do not make police safer and will not lower violent crime. Armed citizens, on the other hand, do make a positive difference. In the poll of 15,000 law enforcement professionals, 71% of respondents said an "assault weapons" ban would have zero impact on violent crime. Of those surveyed, 95.7% said the same of a "high capacity" magazine ban, and 79.7% said the same in response to a question on universal background checks.

Margaret Thatcher captured Americans’ hearts and minds in a way few other foreign leaders have done, and much of that was because of the symbiotic relationship she had with President Reagan — a relationship that in many ways mirrored the storied “special” friendship between the two countries. Mrs. Thatcher, who died Monday at age 87, was a tough-talking maverick who was bullish on the promise of the U.S. as a force on the international stage. Those traits appealed to Americans weary of the 1970s malaise and eager to hear reasons to believe in themselves. “She had the perfect balance between
