| The future leadership of the House GOP conference may be decided by a procedural motion on the morning of January 3rd. When the new 113th Congress convenes that day, the first order of business will be to elect a Speaker of the House. As my colleague Matthew Boyle reported, however, some GOP members are planning to preempt this vote with a motion to conduct the election of Speaker by secret ballot. If that were to happen, John Boehner may face a real fight to retain the Speaker´s gavel. But if a member introduces that resolution for a secret ballot,

[God is patient and never in a hurry... but God, America is in the balance... May we please have Col. Allen West as our new Speaker... for such a time as this...
Were the prerequisites that the Speaker did NOT need to be a Member of the House for a time like now... ]

Boehner´s clumsiness and incoherence on the fiscal cliff are one thing but having reprisals on his own members who don´t tow the line is something else.
No matter what kind of stupor the House republicans are in,Obama still needs them to allocate money,so they have more leverage than people think.
Obama and his henchmen desperately want the republicans to cave on taxes because they think it´ll be the end of them as a party.

I just want a speaker who doesn´t negotiate with himself in front of every microphone available in the capitol building. That drives me up a wall when Boehner starts discussing all his various options with reporters.
Let me say this again, John: Reporters are not your friends!

Exactly #10. The Speaker does not need to be a member of the house. I suggested Newt yesterday. I also believe that the Majority Leader and Majority Whip does not have be a member of the house. My suggestions for these positions would be Allen West and Herman Cain. We need people that will fight back.

And, with the universal support for jfkerry, can´t we now acknowledge that we have a congress full of gutless, immoral scum? Boehner will remain because the dems/pubbies (can you tell the difference?)have decided they like the way things are going.

Paul Ryan or someone who could articulate the debt issues and the insanity of the spending is what we need. Boehner, like the RNC, is only in this for the power grab, committee chairs, and perks that come with the office. A Tea Party revolt in Congress is what we need from Day 1 (actually two weeks before) Obama´s 2nd term begins. Let´s shut this operation down and wield an iron fist in the House. Ryan should also take on and expose Harry Reid. Let´s expose him as the real crook and union crony he is!

We need someone that can make the Low Information Voter (Obama´s crowd) understand what is going on.....explain it in terms that a 1st grader can understand. This person also needs to be able to stand up to Obama, Pelosi, Reid, etc. He or she should be able to blast these people for what they are and not feel any guilt when doing it. I recommend Newt.

As a side note, they are also required to determine if the President-elect is qualified to hold that office, under Amendment 20, para. 3.
His father was a British citizen, and all his children are by law British citizens, regardless of where they were born. Obama carries dual citizenship.
Under the qualifications for President (Article II, Section 1) all any one carrying British citizenship could hold the office of President, if they were born before 1788, when the Constitution went into force.
A simple majority can prevent him from becoming President.

This writer comes across like a breathless terrier anticipating a t-bone steak that ain´t gonna be thrown his way.
They´ll never elect a non-incumbent to the Speakership, regardless of what the Constitution has to say about eligibility. It´s just not in the nature of the institution. And wasn´t Gingrich the guy who, by his own admission, went all squishy inside when in the presence of Bill Clinton?
Don´t kid yourselves - a strident, ideology totin´ Speaker would give the MSM a field day and make a terrific foil for Obama. He would not, as some folks here might hope, be the magic change agent who´d awaken America from her stupor. Be glad there are not enough potential votes in the House to elect such an individual.

The night began like many at Boorda Hall, a five-story barracks at Naval Station Great Lakes, the Navy´s premier training base on the shore of Lake Michigan in Illinois. Somebody announced a party, and the hard drinking and beer pong began. A 21-year-old Marine lance corporal, so drunk on rum and Mountain Dew she was slurring her words, went to look for Kyle Antonacci, a Navy seaman she´d been dating off and on. Antonacci soon texted his friend Mike Pineda to help him deal with her. Both men had sex with her that night. But what distinguished May 8, 2009,

A U.S. Foreign Service officer was killed and four others wounded in Afghanistan while carrying out a goodwill mission in the eastern part of the country. The State Department team was delivering books to an Afghan school in the Qalat district of Zaul province when their convoy was hit by a suicide bomber, Secretary of State John Kerry said Saturday. "She was everything a foreign service officer should be: smart, capable, eager to serve, and deeply committed to our country and the difference she was making for the Afghan people," Kerry said of the slain official.

ATLANTA – Luke Hancock came off the bench to score 20 points, walk-on Tim Henderson sparked a second-half rally with a pair of monster 3s and Louisville advanced to the NCAA title game Saturday night, escaping with a 72-68 victory over Wichita State. As the final buzzer sounded, a Louisville player tossed the ball high into the air and injured Kevin Ware stood up, thrusting his arms above his head. It was the 15th straight victory for the top-seeded Cardinals (34-5), who will play the winner of Syracuse-Michigan for the national title Monday night.

The Keystone XL Pipeline has emerged as a major issue in the Massachusetts special U.S. Senate election, with environmental groups committing nearly one-third of the $1.25 million in outside money already spent on campaigns. The biggest spender so far is the League of Conservation Voters, which has already spent more than $545,000 to help elect Democratic candidate and Rep. Ed Markey, who has a strong pro-environment platform. “Our field campaign is resonating with voters across Massachusetts,” said Navin Nayak, a political specialist for the group. “The people of Massachusetts want climate change champion Ed Markey representing them.”

At the corner of Columbia Pike and Walter Reed Dr. in Arlington, Va., sits a stainless steel bus stop with a million dollar price tag. Yes, that’s right. The futuristic-looking bus stop cost $1 million to build. The so-called “super stop” boasts a heated concrete floor and a digital display board that shows when the next bus will arrive, but it doesn’t do much to keep commuters warm or dry (except for their feet). The stop leaves the people waiting for transportation exposed to the elements.(Snip) Some $800,000 of the money came from federal and state tax dollars via grants,

Now that it’s almost departure time for Julius Genachowski, Obama’s first chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, The Hill newspaper has noted one important sign of his priorities. In his four years at the helm, the FCC hasn’t issued one fine to Hollywood for indecent content on broadcast television. Now there’s a legacy. Hollywood sends its gratitude, Mr. Chairman, for an absolutely perfect record of inaction. Who says that in Obama’s America, your campaign contributions can’t buy regulatory paralysis in Washington when needed? Few media outlets noticed. Communications Daily described Genachowski’s perfect zero as a “restrained approach.”

Weighing in on the other side, national civil rights leader Julian Bond sent a letter urging legislators to grant equal rights to “my gay and lesbian brothers and sisters.” George met with prominent Chicago area black pastors and bishops
