If I could only grow 6 inches taller, I´d be perfect !
In today´s world, there is far too much emphasis on appearance, and almost none on intelligence and goodness.
I only looked at tall men, and married one and suffered for 28 years. I finally woke up and divorced him. I was asked out on a date by a short man, who turned out to be THE last perfect man on earth and we had a blissful happy marriage for 24 years, until his death last year. His sense of honor and decency, and respect for me and his warmth and love will sustain me to the end of my days.

Mrs Greyhounds is almost the same size, except she runs marathons and triathlons for fun...

And after 35 years, I´d marry her again!

It used to be that men had an instinct for preferring females that appeared to 1. be able to deliver without much trouble (ample hips), 2. could survive long periods of stress (extra fat), and 3. would be able to nurse a child adequately (breast size).
I´m not sure what their instinct is for now. Apparently,it´s for females who will 1. never have enough of anything, 2. will make endless demands, 3. always be somewhere or going somewhere and getting ready to go somewhere and 4.will always decide when it´s convenient enough so a guy can relieve himself of the 50,000 sperm he creates every day.

Elsie Scheel was very, very attractive to most men in 1912 ... she would also have been attractive to most men for all the eons men have existed before that!

There´s a good reason for that. Healthy body fat is essential for healthy pregnancies, and perpetuating humankind.

It is only in the last few decades, when the tastes of homosexual men began to dominate our culture, that rail-thin women became the ideal body type.

This is how we get sentiments like those expressed by #2 (who is disgusted by "fat on a woman").

Decades of propaganda from Madison Avenue and Hollywood have convinced even heterosexual men that a normal, healthy woman is unattractive.

Seems fairly heavy to me. Personally, I know I look and feel better at a smaller weight. Of course, a size 12/14 in 1912 is probably a size 8 by today´s standards. Vanity sizing throws a a major kink in this article. And #7, breast size has absolutely no bearing on successful breastfeeding.

If we completely ignore personality, intellect, sense of humor, adventure and character, and focus only on looks, I am partial to the taller, thinner girls.
Luckily for me, I don´t ignore the aforementioned qualities.
I don´t want to perpetuate humankind. I just want to stay in practice.

Eat healthy, exercise, be the size you are and be attracted to who you want......Everything else is just more crap.

What next? The government mandate you have to marry who they think is best, so more will feel better about themselves?

Elsie was 5´7", which would have made her quite tall for a woman of her generation. She´d actually be taller than the average American woman now, wouldn´t she?

Perfection,as a human ideal, has no foundation in reality. There are as many perfect people as there are people in the world. If you like starving yourself perpetually so you can have a body that other believe is ideal, then you have achieved your level of perfection. If you don´t give a rip what other people think about your body, love eating Philly cheese steaks every day, twice a day- that´s your level of perfection. Everything else is just mental metaphysics.

The current BMI formula is totally pointless since it can´t distinguish between weight from muscle and weight from fat. Think Bruce Willis in "Die Hard", Stallone in "First Blood", Schwarzenegger in anything, all would be deemed obese using this formula.
Regarding Miss Scheel´s curves, she is not fat. We´ve just been so brain-washed by the sight of walking skeletons for models that it seems "normal". The body type of the average Victoria Secret model applies to about 5% of the female population, I think. I doubt that they are much healthier than the rest of us, including us "pears"; the forgotten women of fashion.

Wow... I´m 5´7" and 150 and I am a healthy girl as momma use to say. Tack on 20 lbs on my frame and I would be fat as mud so goes to show how frame, musculature, and body shape make a huge difference. I wonder if she has more muscle as muscle weighs more than fat but it also burns more calories and is much healthier.

As to attraction, sorry folks, it´s biologically hardwired. You are attracted to who you are attracted to and it has nothing to do with personality or sense of humor or if someone is a "nice person." Those are nice accessories and make for happy beta thoughts but in the end, that is all they are. Suck down that red pill guys and gals, it´s for your own good.

You can be very attractive at 171 at 5´7", particularly if you are youthful. It would be about a size 10. She probably was very nice looking.

I knew I was born in the wrong era!

She´s what you call warmth in the winter and shade in the summer. Seriously, look at old photos from that era. Most of the well to do women were of ample size. Then look at pictures of pioneer women. The difference is stark.

I recently saw a picture of my great great grandmother taken around 1860. I hope this does not make me weird, but she was one of the most stunningly beautiful 40 year old women I have ever seen, even by today´s standards.
The problem is, when the picture was taken she was 19.

The people who promote the stick-thin female ideal of today are gay men who work in the fashion industry along with their female enablers. Their aim is to de-feminize the female form by reducing it to a boy-like appearance.

The reason they do this is simple: to reduce the difference between the genders. Liberals work on the basis that there must not be any difference between men and women. The reason that liberals choose women as the moveable object in this culture war is because women are highly impressionable when it comes to appearance. Remember that women are sellers by nature, which means they use their appearance to sell themselves to men.

If Elsie Scheel was the ideal a hundred years ago, and a stick-thin model is the ideal today, one shudders as to what might be the case in a hundred years from now. Slowly, we are heading for complete de-humanization.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Doesn´t it worry anyone that the deciding factor is the medical examiner ? Did it help that her mother was also a doctor ?
