Chevron Corp. will move up to 800 jobs - about a quarter of its current headquarters staff - from the Bay Area to Houston over the next two years but will remain based in San Ramon, the oil company told employees Thursday. The jobs - generally, technical positions dealing with information and advanced energy technologies - are all tied to Chevron´s worldwide oil exploration and production business, much of which is based in Houston. The company reported the shift in an e-mail to its employees Thursday. San Ramon will remain Chevron´s corporate headquarters, the company said. About 3,500 people work at Chevron´s

I love it !

Die California, a slow, writhing, ignominious death.

The former Golden State, an economic giant among the world´s great economies, a land of endless promise.

Well, as with all things it touches,
LIBERALISM has destroyed it.

And these are jobs that NEVER come back.

Thank the Democrats!

California has MASSIVE natural resources but refuses to tap them, in safe way, to help themselves pay for the state services, personnel and pensions.
Oh, and by tapping those resources it would create additional jobs, and maybe even lower fuel prices for state businesses, which would bring more to the state because it would be a better place to operate.

The state is currently working hard to prevent the fracking operations in the Central Valley where a oil shale deposit larger than Bakken in South Dakota is located.
Why?

The environmentalists don´t want Americans to use oil, or coal, or any other "dirty" fossil fuel.

They don´t have an alternative though.

Yeah, I agree with #11. Don´t be so smug yet #8. You think "oil people" from California--specifically from the overwhelmingly liberal Bay Area, are all wonderfully conservative voters? They´ll be bringing their whole families and often extended families with them, kids steeped in the California liberalism as taught in schools. And should their be lay offs (it IS the oil industry), you´ll be paying for unemployment.

Enjoy.

Historical fact: Chevron was once named Standard Oil of California. Which is why it is still headquartered in SF. I´m thinking that once the libtard voting population of CA is replaced by Mexican anchor babies - some actually (cough) looking for work - or at least govt. handouts - the state will become open to all sorts of mining and drilling.
